Doomben (Tuesday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 6.
The middle leg of three race days at Doomben in a week. As we keep saying the track really is being asked to do a lot but it continues to play pretty well. Most fields are a reasonable size and with the rail out 9.5 metres it may pay to look for front runners at least early on.

BEST BET: R6 – 1. MAGNUFIGHTER
Next Best Bet: R4 – 1. VAULTING AMBITION
Best Roughie: R1 – 7. SHE SALUTES
R1 - 11.42am. CANADIAN CLUB QTIS Three-Years-Old Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1650m.
No3 HI LIZZY Has raced well in Saturday three-year-olds and good run on a heavy track behind a smart horse when second at Ipswich. Better suited on top of the ground here.
No7 SHE SALUTES (BEST ROUGHIE) Good Sunshine Coast race winner two starts back and then didn't handle the wet track last time at Ipswich. Looks well in at the weights.
No1 ARISTOCAT Won an Ipswich maiden over 1550m and then escaped from the swabbing stall onto the nearby streets. If hasn't taken any harm from that adventure will be hard to beat.
No2 WAKE UP JEFF Has been racing well at the provincials and was a last-start Toowoomba winner. Well drawn and should be in the finish here.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SHE SALUTES
R2 - 12.17pm. MITAVITE Maiden Handicap - 1050m.
No11 TALAPUS Well-bred first starter who has had two handy trials at the Sunshine Coast. This is a weak maiden and on trial form should be in the finish.
No12 KOSCIUSZKO EXPRESS Having first start this area after showing some ability in NSW. Has the inside barrier and a top jockey so respect.
No8 OOSHE Only start was a good second at Grafton and had trialled solidly at Doomben previously. Each-way here.
No1 REACHER Had some good NSW and Victorian form but has had a few injury problems. Had two trials in Sydney before coming north. On his best a chance despite the barrier.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 OOSHE
R3 - 12.52pm. JAMES BOAGS PREMIUM Maiden Plate - 1350m.
No7 WAS AGONA Not a bad run first-up at Ipswich in a race won by a 100/1 shot. But we did like his trial earlier this year which showed he has ability. Good barrier and top jockey give him a big show here.
No6 ARTERIAL Had three trials before first-up fourth at Ipswich on a heavy track. It wasn't a bad run and should be better suited here on a drier track.
No4 INTERVENTIONS Has been placed at his past five starts in maidens. Can get up on the pace and from barrier three looks very hard to beat here.
No1 BRICKHALL Surprising he is still a maiden as he has form around some good horses. Hasn't raced since July and hasn't had an official trial. The leading jockey has taken the ride which is a good sign.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 ARTERIAL
R4 - 1.40pm RECON SOLUTIONS Class 3 Handicap - 1350m.
No1 VAULTING AMBITION (NEXT BEST BET) Has very good form around some top horses earlier in his career but has had injury problems and then hit with big weights. Resuming here but claims 3kgs and has had two trials of late. On his best form will be too good for these.
No3 LUNA FIORE Tough mare who won at Ipswich recently when led all of the way. If she got a soft lead here could repeat the win.
No7 AUDREE Coming back in distance here after a year's break. Has not had an official trial but working okay and stable has a reputation for long shot winners. Respect.
No4 ONE MANSINI Always running into problems in his races and that was the case past two starts. From a good barrier should be able to get the run of the race.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 ONE MANSINI
R5 - 2.55pm. ASCOT GREEN Benchmark 65 Handicap - 2200m.
No4 GEOMETRIST Has been consistent of late until most recent run when ran into trouble this track and distance. Deserves another chance in this easier race.
No1 SCOTTY BE GOTTI Form is a lot better than it appears on paper as he has had little luck of late. Wasn't far out of the place last start this track at 2000m and better here at 2200m.
No8 JIMMY HOFFA Strong win at the Sunshine Coast last start at 2200m. Good stayer on his day but problem here is one drop of rain and forget him. On a dry track the one to beat.
No7 CLASSY RUBY Two solid efforts first-up from a spell and then forget last start when had no chance from a wide barrier. On her best southern form could win this.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 SCOTTY BE GOTTI
R6 - 3.37pm. CANADIAN CLUB Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap - 1200m.
No1 MAGNUFIGHTER (BEST BET) Ran well against top two-year-olds last campaign and was placed in stakes class. Has had an easy trial for his return here and looks to have too much class for this field.
No5 FORTUNE STAR Honest three year old who won at the Gold Coast last season and good second when had no luck at Beaudesert latest. Has trialled well a couple of times.
No2 THUNDER ROCKER Last start Beaudesert winner and while this is harder he has shown a lot of ability in good standard trials including winning one.
No9 TWO AMOR Fell in to win by a narrow margin at Gatton last start but has shown ability in better races in previous efforts. Each-way here.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 THUNDER ROCKER
R7 - 4.12pm. CHANNEL 7 Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap - 1200m.
No2 EXPERTEA Form was good last campaign finishing with an Ipswich maiden win. Has trialled okay for comeback here and this isn't very hard. Stable usually has horses ready to win fresh.
No6 I REMEMBER YOU Good second first-up at the Gold Coast. Has always had a wrap on her but yet to live up to it. This campaign might be the one where she wins a few races.
No4 TAY SWIFT All runs this campaign have been good with an Ipswich win and then two minor placings. Won't strike a much easier Class 1 than this and should get the run of the race.
No8 TANGO YANKEE Solid win at the Sunshine Coast and then nothing went right that track last start when unplaced. Forget that run and go on previous honest form.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 TAY SWIFT
R8 - 4.52pm. PAGES EVENT EQUIPMENT HIRE Class 5 Handicap - 1640m.
No2 SLYDINI Usually regarded as just a wet tracker but runs on all surfaces have been good of late with a win and a second at Ipswich past two starts. Give another hope here. He might even lead this field which would be a help.
No7 THE EQUALIZER Hard to catch but on his day would win this. Better suited this distance than most recent effort when unplaced at the Gold Coast.
No3 REALLY REILLY Lived up to his potential with a strong win at the Sunshine Coast last start. Has raced well this track on occasions and an obvious danger. Just needs a bit of luck in the straight.
No11 MONTRER DAME The day she has some luck she will win a race like this. Gets back in the field and often strikes trouble. But placed three of past four starts and with luck could have won at least two of them.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 THE EQUALISER
