Randwick for the big Melbourne Cup day support card, there is always a huge crowd out at Randwick and today should be no different. We have nine races on the card and big deep fields. The track should be in the good range and the rail is +4 throughout.

QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny Play:  4  -  7,9  -  6,8  -  2,4,13

Wide Play:  4  -  7,9,12  -  2,6,7,8  -  2,4,8,13

BEST BET: R3 – 1. HIGHER GROUND

Next Best Bet: R5 – 1. ON THE SPOT

Best Roughie: R2 – 6. SEAWAY

R1 – 12.00pm. Task Retail Plate - 1800m.

No8 ALL TOO SOON drops well in grade here after a solid run last Saturday in a race which should hold up quite well. The 1800m off its breeding is going to suit perfectly. Maybe Adkins with the claim and not much speed, can sit behind Zeppelin here and turn it into a staying contest.

No7 ZEPPELIN looks the likely leader here and was run down late last start. He now comes back to his home track here, and gets Parr on from the inside gate. If he is allowed to dictate terms, they will find it hard to run him down.

No1 DEVIL’S LAIR has been good in two starts and had a solid trial on Friday morning at Canterbury, which just looked to be a tick over for this. His breeding suggests that the 1800m is suitable here. From the gate he will get back and have the last shot here.

No4 ROSHERVILLE looks to be on speed here from the good gate and should improve out to the 1800m. he has some good form around him and should run well here.

VALUE RUNNER: No1 DEVIL’S LAIR

R2 – 12.35pm. APN Outdoor Plate - 1200m.

No6 SEAWAY (BEST ROUGHIE) gets thrown in on debut here, not sure what price he comes up, but the trial was just ok enough last week. The breeding isn’t too bad and he looks to have some ability and if he has taken improvement from that trial like Waller horses do, he is well within a chance.

*SCRATCHED* No3 LUCKY HADA has been trialing up in very good order coming into the debut run here. He looks to have a lot of ability off his trials and has been well educated with a few different preparations and should run well at home on debut.

No8 TUNERO comes out of a very good race on debut at Newcastle where the first two home have since won in the city. The two trials coming into this have been quiet in typical fashion for the stable. The claim suits here.

*SCRATCHED* No9 AQUA D’IVINA comes out of a brilliant race on debut behind Almanzora and ran up to her breeding there. By Pierro out of Aqua D’Amore she is bred to be a superstar and could well be a very nice horse in the making. 1200m could be too short.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 SEAWAY

R3 – 1.10pm. RIGHT2DRIVE Handicap - 1400m.

No1 HIGHER GROUND (BEST BET) comes out of a very hot lead up race here on debut behind Cuba. Glyn half fell asleep in the run and Cuba was off and gone. He really ran through the line in brilliant fashion there and the step up to 1400m and on the big track here suits. No issue with the apprentice riding as he is in great form.

*SCRATCHED* No9 IMPULSIVE has an awkward draw here, but has been trialing in very good order coming into the debut run and should appreciate 1400m on debut.

No3 MUSTAFA comes out of a very hot race on debut behind Goodfella, we will know by now if that form is hot, but back to maiden he has to be respected.

No5 SO YOU WIN smashed the line on debut at Kembla and the step up in trip here to 1400m suits.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 MUSTAFA

R4 – 1.45pm. McGrath Estate Agents ACT Handicap - 2400m.

No4 WINE BUSH ends up on top here in what is an average race, a lot of these horses have been running against each other and swapping wins as of late, he is probably due for his turn here and with T Angland on board he has one more chance.

No3 READY FOR SUCCESS was the winner of that race last start in pretty good fashion there, he should roll along in front again and if given an easy enough time of it in front again. The same could happen again.

No7 HOOF HUSTLER won well when stepping up to the 2400m for the first time last Saturday. He jumped and ran them along here and did a good job there. He has the least amount of convictions in this field and could well be a horse on the way up.

No9 ANTONIO’S PRIDE was a runner up behind Hoof Hustler last start and ran out the 2400m strongly and meets that rival better at the weights here. That he hasn’t won a race as of yet is a touch of an issue for mine. But he could be on the way up.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 HOOF HUSTLER

R5 – 2.25pm. McGrath Estate Agents QLD Handicap - 1200m.

No1 ON THE SPOT (NEXT BEST BET) was a strong winner last start at Kembla charging over the top of them late with a big weight there. Angland sticks here which adds to confidence and the drop down to 58.5kg here is suitable. The form that he has around him is better than these and he looks the one here.

No4 DRACHENFELS is his own worst enemy, he should have won last Wednesday and was beaten a lip. If he wants to win he can.

No6 SAVVAN was very good when first up for the new stable, the trial between runs was quite good and she will be finishing over the top of them.

No9 AQUATIC resumes here and is back to the scene of the crime of his only win. The trial coming in was quite good and he should run well.

VALUE RUNNER: No9 AQUATIC

R6 – 3.40pm. McGrath Estate Agent VIC Handicap - 1300m.

*SCRATCHED* No4 ZONK would be third best on the day if I had one, she was softened up in the lead when sensationally backed 13 days ago. She looked to have fitness improvement to come from the yard there. Looks to be a black type mare in the making, only concern here is T Clark off. But she should be too good on her home track.

No2 AANVOERDER backs up quickly and drops in distance which looks to suit here. She is a nice mare who will run well again with the claim for JVO.

No6 KAWAIKINI was a strong winner first-up in a good open handicap race in the country, she should improve off that and run well.

*SCRATCHED* No7 LOVELETTER comes out of the same race as Zonk last start, and that form should hold up quite well here as I have Zonk on top.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 KAWAIKINI

R8 – 5.05pm. Girvin Waugh Handicap - 1600m.

No6 OUR BELISA has been quite good in winning two of three races this time in, in very good fashion. The form out of the last start race should hold up quite well and if Angland can get the luck when needed from barrier 3 she will be hard to hold out.

*SCRATCHED* No8 CORDERO was very well backed when resuming and ran quite well there, he looked to have blown out of fitness late there and would take improvement from that run. The 1600m holds no issues at all and he only needs some luck early in the run to be in the finish.

*SCRATCHED* No7 ALLITERATE comes out of some very good form races as of late and that ties in quite well with Our Belisa here. She is a mare who likes to duck and weave and from gate 7, Hutchings will try to find the fence here and he is quite a “ballsy” jockey who will go for the runs.

No2 GAUGUIN drops well in grade here and has a host of gear changes coming into this. He is a horse who has a lot of ability if he wants to put it all together when it matters, the claim suits as does the open expanses of Randwick.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 ALLITERATE

R9 – 5.40pm. Precise Air Handicap - 1400m.

*SCRATCHED* No2 SO SPIRITED won a handy midweek race last start in which the form should hold up quite well here. He showed that the 1400m is no issue at all, and I think in time he will be better over further being by So You Think. He should be able to roll forward and dominate.

No4 ISTRIA won in strong fashion last start after coming out of some very good form races previous to that. I like the step here to the midweek meeting before taking on better races than this. She gets a perfect run of the race from gate 1 and will be in the finish.

No8 GITAN is a very nice horse with some upside and comes out of what looks to be a good race last start. The claim for JVO suits him well here and I am a fan of backing Jean Dubios horses as he gets them up and running and places them to advantage.

*SCRATCHED* No13 SHARPNESS comes out of some very good form races at this preparation without winning any of them. Zonk and Noire form is quite strong, gate 12 is a touch sticky but if Jennings can find a way from the gate she will be there when it counts.

VALUE RUNNER: No13 SHARPNESS

R7 – 4.25pm. Schweppes Choisir Handicap - 1100m.

*SCRATCHED* No9 TACTICAL ADVANTAGE should be winning this race second-up on the quick back up here. He was never in the race last Saturday when drifting, and Glyn being a touch quiet on the horse. 1000m was probably a touch short too. 1100m and the claim = hard to beat here.

*SCRATCHED* No7 DIDDUMS comes back in distance and in grade here which is a move which looks to suit. Completely forget the last start run where she pulled up with an issue, go off the first-up run where she was an awesome winner in good time and she runs well again here.

No12 TO EXCESS just doesn’t run the 1200m out as we saw last start, and now he drops back to 1100m which suits perfectly here. JVO doesn’t claim here as he rides 53kg only. He has built up a very good record here and should run well.

*SCRATCHED* No5 PALAZZO PUBBLICO resumes here and brings a good fresh record into this race, she raced against better horses than this last time in and has trialed very well twice leading in. 1100m at Randwick is her go. We backed her on Slipper day, we need to have something on here.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 DIDDUMS
