Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 8.
The third Doomben meeting in seven days with rail moved yet again. Last Saturday was a front-runner's paradise but the track played fairer on Tuesday. It should do the same again with one catch. If the predicted thunderstorms hit late in the week the track will be soft. But as we continually point out it dries very quickly and then for some reason becomes a haven for the front-runner again!

Best Roughie: R4 - 6. TONI MAY
R1 - 11.42am. NATIONAL STORAGE 2YO HANDICAP - 1110m.
No10 ROSA'S CHARM Finished very strongly to win this track at second start. Very well drawn and has a claim here so does look very well placed.
No3 BRINKMANSHIP Has trialled well and was green at first start when second and then got into a roller derby type bumping war when fourth at next start, both at the Gold Coast. This suits well from a good barrier.
No9 RAINS APLENTY Has had a wrap on him and hasn't had much luck when third at both race starts. Much better drawn now and looks ready to win.
*SCRATCHED* No8 JUST FAVULOUS First starter who has not had an official trial. But the whole family have been more than handy gallopers so must be respected here.
R2 - 12.18pm. BRONCOS SUPERSTORE 3YO HANDICAP - 1200m.
No1 MISS EXFACTOR (NEXT BEST BET) Has been scheduled to run the past two weeks but the first day was washed out and then the second day the track was too hard and she was a late scratching. Has plenty of ability and should be suited here where she can lead.
No4 DAZZLING RED Winner of his past two starts at the provincial tracks. Has form on all types of tracks and should be suited here with plenty early pace.
No5 CABIN FEVER Had good form during the winter and forget first-up failure this track as the race bias was against her. This suits far better and will be running home.
No6 COOROI CHASE Better run last start when second this track when finished very fast. A bit more rain would do her hopes no harm.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 CABIN FEVER
R3 - 12.58pm. MARK COTTERELL MASTER JEWELLER 0 - 70 HANDICAP - 1200m.
*SCRATCHED* No10 DOWNLOADING Well-bred galloper who was most impressive with first-up at the Sunshine Coast. Ready to live up to the early wraps on him and just has to overcome a tricky barrier.
*SCRATCHED* No11 HOT GOSSIP Should have won when second this track two starts back and then never a chance from a wide barrier last time. Much better drawn this time.
No13 TWO SHOES Has a very good fresh record and gets back in her races so barrier should be no major worry. Better than last couple of runs last campaign.
No8 SCRABBLE Doesn't win often but always tries hard and ran on again last start to be third in a similar race this track. Always one for the trifectas.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 HOT GOSSIP
R4 - 1.38pm. CONSTRUCTION SKILLS QUEENSLAND BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP - 2000m.
No6 TONI MAY (BEST ROUGHIE) Gradually getting back to her best form and found the 1666m too short when fourth at Ipswich last start. Has an apprentice's claim here and ready to do her best now.
No7 DIA DE REYES Has plenty of tricks but past two runs in Sydney have been very good with a third and then a win at 1800m. Handles wet and dry tracks.
No4 KARAKABEEL Again looked the winner at the 200m but just faded when close second this track at 2200m last start. Surely overdue for a win.
No2 SNAPPER Strong win at 1600m this track and has always been rated a potential staying star. Getting out to the right distance now and looks hard to beat in a tricky race.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 SNAPPER
R5 - 2.18pm. EPICURE MEMORABLE EVENTS BENCHMARK 85 HANDICAP - 1200m.
No2 WITH A PROMISE Smart mare who is getting back near her best. Was third in a fast run open handicap over 1200m last start and ideally drawn here from barrier four.
No1 CRACK ME UP Quality galloper who won two stakes races during the winter carnival. Has a huge weight here but jockey is noted for winning on top weights. Has to be a big show here and will be good odds because of his weight.
*SCRATCHED* No6 COURTZA KING Good win first-up and then no luck when third this track last time. Always a hope these races with plenty of early pace.
No7 RARE OCCURRENCE Very good horse at Doomben, especially if there is some rain. Handy fourth last time in a tougher race than this. Each-way here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 CRACK ME UP
R6 – 3.00pm. NATIONAL STORAGE LOCKER ROOM CLASS 3 PLATE - 1600m.
No3 BEAU ISA Barrier is no help but shows a lot of promise with two recent wins at Beaudesert and then Ipswich. A horse on the up.
No10 SHE GOES POP Promising mare who won first-up at the Sunshine Coast. Has been placed this track and distance at only attempt. Ready to win again.
No14 DON'T DOUBT THE WIFE Racing well but keeps running into one just a little bit better. Always an each-way hope.
No8 ANTIGONE Has some good form in these type of races and better placed here from a good barrier and at 1600m than last-start flop this track.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 ANTIGONE
R7 - 3.45pm. MARK COTTERELL MASTER JEWELLER CLASS 6 HANDICAP - 1110m.
No8 AMANAAT Has drawn perfectly with an inside barrier and has won his past three starts at the provincials. Strikes a smart field here but should be very hard to beat.
No5 RINGO'S A ROCKSTAR The winner ran a course record when he was second beaten nose at the Sunshine Coast. He was checked twice in the straight and should have won. The barrier is the only risk.
No9 JUST ORM Won a good quality race at the Sunshine Cost and then got too far back when unplaced at Doomben in latest run. Should be closer in the run from a good barrier.
No12 I'VE GOTTA NEL Honest gelding who has run third and then won on heavy tracks at his two runs back from a spell. This is harder but has a light weight and also handles good tracks.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 JUST ORM
R8 - 4.35pm. #BRONXNATION OPEN HANDICAP- 1350m.
No2 CANTBUYBETTER (BEST BET) Talented gelding who is on trial for a trip to Perth for the Railway Stakes. Good second first-up and much better placed at this distance. The barrier is no help but he still should win.
No1 FRESPANOL Can mix his form but on his day isn't far off being a stakes horse. Better placed here than last start fourth at the Gold Coast last month and has had a soft trial since.
No5 BECKHAM Honest old timer who is fitter for two runs from a spell. The 1350m is ideal but probably needs more rain. Keep very safe in trifectas, etc.
No7 FIERY HEIGHTS This harder than last start win this track but has a very good record this track and distance. Always a hope especially if he can lead by himself.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 FRESPANOL
R9 - 5.15pm. WWW.BRC.COM.AU BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP - 1350m.
No6 NO ANNAMOSSITY Has been racing very well with wins past two starts and has a 3kgs claim here from a handy barrier. This is a tough race but looks the one to beat.
No13 SUPER SUAVE Has been placed past two starts behind a couple of smart horses. This is no harder and remains down in the weights.
No12 ST HILARY Has found her form with wins her past three starts including one this track. Suited this track and distance and should be up on the pace for a long way.
No15 FALKIRK DRIVE Won two races in a row and then no hope this track last start when pushed back when the bias was too leaders. Right down in the weights here and give another chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No15 FALKIRK DRIVE
