Rosehill for another Saturday meeting here in Sydney, we have a few Saturdays coming and this is probably Sydney’s best track and it is quite fair for all punters and horses. Nine races on a card that isn’t too high on final acceptors. The rail is +3m and we should be on a good track come raceday.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 8,9 - 4,5 - 9 - 3,4,6
Wide Play: 4,8,9 - 4,5 - 2,3,9 - 1,3,4,6
BEST BET: R7 – 5. JUST DREAMING
Next Best Bet: R2 – 2. UNFORGOTTEN
Best Roughie: R6 – 4. PRINCE PLANET
No7 SANGITA is one of the best looking 2yos that I have seen this season and had the bias against on debut. Happy to forgive that and follow the market support the horse had, race experience suits here and should run well.
No8 SECRET LADY looks an absolute speedball and with the claim down to 54kg here, she is going to make the most of the “low” weight and run them along here. Her mother was an early 2yo winner and looks to have thrown one here.
No5 MADAM ROUGE is the first of the Zoustar’s to be seen and he has been quite highly touted by some smart judges as a good sire. The trials have been quite good leading in and she looks to be a nice horse in the making here.
No1 DYNAMITED is very well bred and has only had the one soft trial coming into this, where he was beaten by the stablemate. But I liked the way this colt went about his business, he could improve into the debut run and run well.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 MADAM ROUGE
No2 UNFORGOTTEN (NEXT BEST BET) got the job done for us last weekend in very strong fashion, the way the race was run didn’t suit her and she had to make a long 600m run and ran right over the top of them for an impressive win. I love the quick back up as that shows that the horse is clearly flying. She may well be a horse with Group potential next Autumn, breeding says Vinery/Oaks filly.
No5 POPULAR did a good job when winning first up at Warwick Farm, she is drawn to get a cosy run here.
No3 DESTINY’S OWN did a good job when winning last start at the midweeks. He was very strong through the line there and should run well again.
No6 CAJETAN resumed as a gelding with a very strong win at Gosford getting over them late. He can only improve out to the 1500m here.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 DESTINY’S OWN
No3 KARAVALI charged through the line when wining at Randwick over the 2000m, the 2400m looks as if it shouldn’t be an issue for her. Collett will go back again and get the soft run of the race and should run well again here.
No6 LYCURGUS comes to Sydney with some solid enough Melbourne form and has been going quite well as of late in staying races down there. He has the right platform to run well, and brings good form lines to this.
No1 VASSAL has been going ok enough as of late in Brisbane. Waller bought Carzoff down to win last weekend. He has the proper staying set up for this and if he won, it wouldn’t shock at all.
No2 OLYMPIC ACADMEY has to carry some big weights and has been going quite well. He is honest as the day is long and will continue to whack away here, and if the breaks fall his way. He will be in the finish.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 VASSAL
No6 BON AMIS has been nothing short of brilliant in all three wins from three starts. He has run very fast time in all three wins and now comes to a city race here with not much depth. Has to stretch to 1100m, which I think won’t be an issue, as he isn’t a hard going horse. Hutchings down to 56kgs is a big tick.
No4 MAGICAZ was solid enough when resuming and had been trialing up quite well coming into this preparation. The second-up record is quite good and she has won up to 1400m in the past and the 1100m doesn’t look an issue here.
No3 BLOWING KISSES comes out of the same race as Magicaz last start and ran quite well flashing late in really fast time for the day there. Collett will suit this horse quite well, as he will be able to ride it nice and soft and follow the fav into the race.
No1 CURDLED finished off last preparation with a Listed win in the Brisbane carnival. He has had one soft trial coming into this over the short course of 735m at Randwick, he may well improve with the run here.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 BLOWING KISSES
*SCRATCHED* No4 I AM SERIOUS steps up in distance here which looks to suit very well, she is a weird horse as she gets off the bit early in the race, but keeps on finding the line. This is why the 1800m is going to suit well and the wide gate shouldn’t be an issue at all, as Glyn will have her wide in the run and able to stoke up from the 600m.
No5 BE LIKE DAD will give them something to chase down with just the 53.5kgs after just getting beaten by Shield Wall. The 1800m at his home track shouldn’t be an issue at all. Payne has his team going quite well at the minute and should be respected.
No6 INTUERI has quite good form around him, but comes out of Canterbury which is ok enough for a race like this, but he needs to show me something away from that track before I come into him. He did run a placing in February at the track.
No1 MORTAR PLATOON should improve after a flat effort last weekend, after coming off a booming win at Randwick two back. The senior jock gets back aboard here and should suit.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 BE LIKE DAD
No8 ISLA TRISTANA won with consummate ease last start at Ipswich. Dunn has been bringing her slowly along this time in and now the step up to 1400m shouldn’t be an issue at all. She is a highway winner in the past and still has a lot of upside.
No9 ROSEITO has quite a good record in a short career thus far and gets a soft run of it on the map here. The win first-up was very good and she ran over the top of them quite well there. Good jockey change suits and should be respected.
No4 PRINCE PLANET (BEST ROUGHIE) can sit just behind them on the map here and comes out of some ok enough form lines in the western districts. I like that M Cahill has followed this to town, as he wouldn’t make the six hour drive from Cowra for no reason.
No2 SCHEDULE made up ground against the bias, on Everest day so you have to respect that. I don’t think he gets a strong mile, but he is quite good over 1400m which is where he stays at here. He is a highway winner in the past.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 PRINCE PLANET
No5 JUST DREAMING (BEST BET) looks set to peak third-up from a spell here and has had that run over the 1500m last start where she just got tired late and was beaten in the last few strides. She is drawn to get a good run, just in behind the speed and should be tracking Stonebrook all over the place. The claim for King down to 57.5kg gets her further away from Stonebrook.
No4 STONEBROOK wasn’t ridden the best last start and got run down late, I have to be against him at the price, as he is fifth-up in his second prep.
No9 CORDERO should improve here at the home track. He gets in with no weight and gets super soft run from gate 1.
No6 DAGNY comes out of the same race last start behind Just Dreaming. She hasn’t lived up to the promise that many thought she had, but she can run well here.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 CORDERO
No9 ZONK could well be a moral here at the weights as Slow Burn was last week. Interestingly enough, both horses won fresh, placed second-up and we saw Slow Burn produce a booming win third-up. I get the feeling this may well be the same, as she was scratched out of a race on Tuesday. She looks to be going well and could well gap them.
No3 IN TIMES OF WAR was beaten last week and a lot of people said she should have won, I don’t buy into that as she always finds a way to get beaten. Nice enough horse, but has a lot of issues between the ears.
No2 YOUR WAY is back off a freshen up here where she produced a career worst last start. The trials coming into this have been quite good and she could well be back to her best now.
No4 MACHINE GUN JUBS is her own worst enemy and you cannot back her until you can trust her again. If she jumps with them she can run well, but I want to see her do it first.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 YOUR WAY
No3 DREAMFORCE has been gelded coming into this preparation and could go to another level this time in now that he is “focused” on his racing. The two trials coming in have been quite strong and he looks very well set up for a first-up win here.
No6 REDOUBLE pulled up with an issue when very well backed last start. He has been back to the trials since and did quite a good job there. Again it is another horse with a lightweight for Hutchings and should be given respect here.
No4 BARTHELONA has the ability, but it’s up to him if he wants to show it each time he turns out on a racecourse. He has ok enough midweek form this time in, and gets a soft run on the map and does have a booming finish on him.
No1 KING DARCI looks ready to run a race here at the third run back from the break. He gets down to 58kgs after the claim and has quite a good record at the 1300m + distance range, watch the betting too. If he is well backed, he will be winning.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 BARTHELONA
