It is like ground hog day but back to Doomben again for yet another meeting. The fields have some quality about them with horses coming back for the rich summer carnival. There has been some rain about but as we consistently point out Doomben is a very good drying track.

No6 THE RUMOUR FILE Scored a tough win this track last start and looked as though he would run third with 100m to go but dug deep. This is stronger but he is still down in the weights and suited by the small field.
No1 EMPHASIS Very good horse at Doomben and placed past two starts this track. Ran in the Doomben Cup and wasn't disgraced in the winter. The big weight the only worry here.
No2 OUTRAGED Has been up this campaign for a long time but holding his form. Has not finished worse than fifth past six starts and each-way again here.
No3 MY GIULIANO Another who has had a long campaign but holding his form well. Strong winner this track at 2040m last start and although 2200m a question rates highly here.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 OUTRAGED
No1 ONLY WANNA SING Very impressive when close second in class record time at his only start this track. Has a poor barrier but should be able to get over with cover and finish very fast.
No6 ANIMAL SPIRITS First starter but won a Gold Coast trial in similar time to Group horse Rudy two weeks ago. Looks a promising type.
No7 CUDDLE ME TIGHT First starter from an in form Toowoomba stable. No official trial but leading jockey Jeff Lloyd has taken the ride which is a good sign.
No10 HEAVENLY STRANGER Won a Gold Coast trial impressively and then hit the lead at the 200m at only start this track two weeks ago before finishing midfield. Looked lost last time and better for the run.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 ANIMAL SPIRITS
No14 WINTER BRIDE All runs since coming from NSW have been good with seconds past two starts and a win at the Gold Coast three runs back. Looks well placed here.
No6 KEYSTONE Former Singapore galloper who has won both his Australians starts at the Sunshine Coast. This isn't much harder than last-start win so keep very safe.
No3 STAR JUSTICE Probably the run of the race when third this track at last start. Ipswich winner two runs back and this isn't overly hard.
No1 ALATORA Has won his past two starts in the northern rivers in good fashion. This is harder and has plenty of weight but has strong hopes.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 KEYSTONE
No2 INITIALIZE Smart horse last season as a two year old and not asked to do much when unplaced in a recent Sunshine Coast trial. Should be able to get a nice run just behind the pace here.
No8 SWEET ORPHAN Winner two of her past three starts at the provincial tracks. Gets back in her races but suited here where there will be a lot of early speed.
No4 AMELIA JANE Starting to live up to her early potential with wins her past two starts in provincial class. Has a bit of fight at the finish and hard to beat here.
No1 DREAM KISSES Had good form as a two year old winning this track and then finishing second in a Townsville feature race. Has trialled twice for her comeback here.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 AMELIA JANE
No3 WHYPEEO (BEST BET) Very promising young horse who beat top quality opposition in his two wins before a break. Being set for the Magic Millions carnival but should be too slick for these around Doomben.
No5 REDEX Wasn't suited by the way the race was run when unplaced here last start. But provincial form previously was very good and looks hard to beat.
No1 BRING IT HOME POP Won his two starts before a spell in good fashion in handy two year old company. Resuming here and placed twice first-up and too good to ignore.
No2 SAINT PATRICKS DAY Terrible first-up at Doomben when last although the track had definite leader bias. Much better than that and is a stakes class winner.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 SAINT PATRICKS DAY
No10 TAKARAKKA If any horse deserves a city win it is him as he has been a model of consistency of late. No luck last time when second at the Sunshine Coast and has a barrier which will enable him to get the race.
No7 AQUA VITE Racing very well at the Gold Coast with a win and several placings before good third this track and distance last start. Some rain would help even more.
No1 MERCURIAN Looked winner for much of the straight when second this track and distance two weeks ago. Has to be an each-way chance again.
No13 PRESSWAY Winner past two starts at the Sunshine Coast including one this distance. Has to be a strong chance again despite tricky barrier.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 AQUA VITE
No5 PRIVLAKA Likes this track and distance and good second in open company last start. Has a few tricks but provided the track isn't too hard will be difficult to beat again.
No6 SPRING TYCOON Has always been highly rated and found best form when a strong winner this track and distance last start. This is harder but still has to be a main chance.
No8 COURTZA KING Never runs bad race and indicated this distance would suit when good last start third this track at 1200m. Ready to win again.
No7 DON'T TELL MAMA One of many horses who weren't suited by a leader bias on the day when fourth first-up this track. Is an honest mare and should get the early pace to suit here.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 DON'T TELL MAMA
No2 BIG MONEY (NEXT BEST BET) Hasn't won for more than 18 months but is a multiple stakes winner including twice this track. Indicated he was back near his best with last-start third in a three-way photo finish in Sydney. Has had three recent trials and fit enough to win here.
No1 MOST IMPORTANT Won the Brisbane summer triple crown last year and forget two lasts in Melbourne at last when failed to handle Caulfield at latest starts. Much better this way of going and respect.
No3 MONSIEUR GUSTAVE Probably the most improved horse in Queensland and won two stakes races before a spell. Has not had an official trial but usually races well fresh.
No4 COL 'N'LIL Tiny mare who has a big heart. Resuming here and had a jog around when last in a recent Gold Coast trial. Has won three times fresh.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 COL 'N' LIL
No3 ZAHSPEED Former Victorian who has been in good form his three runs since coming north. Strong winner this track last start and should be on the pace again here.
No12 RHYME NOR RHYTHM (BEST ROUGHIE) Very honest but can find a way to get beaten. Strong win at the Gold Coast last start indicated he is starting to fulfil his potential and that makes him a good value hope.
No2 LAUTERBRUNNEN Form is better than it looks on paper because he has had no luck at all his past three starts. Likes this track and distance and another value runner.
No7 LORD COCONUTS Starting to wear very thin as a betting proposition but continues to run good races without winning. Strong effort when fourth this track last time and rates an each-way hope here.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 RHYME NOR RHYTHM
