Rosehill for our Saturday meeting here in Sydney and it is Girls Day Out at Rosehill. We have 9 races on the card here, on a good surface. With the Rail at 6M it could give a slight advantage to the on pacers more so.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 6,8 - 4,6 - 2,3,5 - 4,9,10
Wide Play: 6,8 - 1,2,3,4,6,9 - 2,3,4,5,10 - 4,9,10,11
BEST BET: R2 – 1. SLOW BURN
Next Best Bet: R9 – 9. TACTICAL ADVANTAGE
Best Roughie: R4 – 4. LOOSE GOOSE
No6 PRETTY FAST has done a good job at both runs this time in, bolting in at both starts in Newcastle. Her second-up win was quite dominant against the older horses and showed she has taken that next step. She is now ready for Saturday grade.
*SCRATCHED* No8 ECHO JET bolted in last start at Newcastle on the same day as Pretty Fast, but did come home in a slower sectional there. He claims away down to 53.5kgs here. He gets a super soft run on the map here and will be in the finish.
No5 HELIOSPHERE is probably the best horse in the race but will appreciate further in time. His debut run at Randwick behind Kementari was fantastic, before doing a lot wrong when winning at Warwick Farm. I like how he was kept away from the better races this spring, as it could be the making of him.
No3 SPARKY LAD has had a freshen up since the last start when he was quite plain behind Goodfella. He ran third, but I thought he had every chance there. He gets Shinn on from a good gate here, and I want to give him a chance off the freshen.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 SPARKY LAD
No1 SLOW BURN (BEST BET) won in very good fashion last start, bouncing back from a defeat second-up. She stays in the same grade here and goes up only 4kg at the weights here. I think she is much better than this grade. From gate 4, she should be able to jump and run them along, with not too much speed in the race and she should take the next step.
No4 SAVVAN somehow missed last start, and I do not know how she did, from gate 8 she gets back, which is a concern. But she is flying.
No2 AWOKE has been testing the patience of the punters as of late, she comes out of a good form race last start and gets another chance.
No7 SIREN’S FURY got too far back last start in a race which wasn’t run to suit. Good jockey change here gives her another chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SIREN’S FURY
No2 CARZOFF should improve from the second-up win, when quickly out to 1800m there. The 2000m should suit much better as he has always looked a stayer, and had that tough run last start. He looks to get a good run on the map here just behind the leaders.
No4 IMPAVIDO has had a lot of chances this time in, and has let the punters down. I do like that Collett gets back on board of him here. He gets back down to 56.5kgs and that looks to be much more suitable for him than the 59 he carried against Carzoff last start.
No6 LEAD CHOREOGRAPHER was mowed down last start by Karavali, and people may say the form hasn’t held up. But 2400m is a different world. This horse has been going very well this time in, and I expect Avdulla to roll forward from the gate and try to run them into the ground.
No1 COLLATERAL ran up to market expectations last start, when he was out the gate on the betting fluctuations. That could have been a flat run, after such a booming run fresh. He gets a good run on the map here from barrier 1 and gets another chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 COLLATERAL
*SCRATHCED* No4 LOOSE GOOSE (BEST ROUGHIE) goes in on top here, in what looks to be the target race for this horse this time in. He has been quite good since joining the Dunn yard, and now after three runs this time in. He gets blinkers on and Dunn goes to Angland who is his go to rider.
No1 EQUAL BALANCE was slaughtered last start simple as that. Jockey change here is much more suitable, as he won’t get as sore a back as he was given last start. From gate 4 he gets a much softer run of it on the map.
No3 SHE KNOWS did a good job when winning last start in this grade at Randwick in quite slick time. She has had a trial since, where she scorched the turf in 32.7 seconds for her last 600m there. She is low flying, looks the leader and is the one to catch.
No2 VOLPE resumes without a trial coming into this and has quite a good record over distances further than this. She comes out of some hot form at the last start, and will be charging at them late here with Shinn on board.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 VOLPE
No6 SALSONIC wasn’t at all suited by how the race was run first-up from a spell. He got way too far back before running on, ok enough there. Now second-up on a better track, he should be much fitter for the effort and with the good jockey change, he could well round them up.
No5 CABEZA DE VACA was a brilliant winner first-up from a spell, when running his opponents into the ground. He was in brilliant order first up in the yard, and looked as if he would still improve from that. The form has stacked up well out of that race and he will run well again.
No3 FEDERAL comes out of that same race as the top two picks last start, and brings quite a good second-up record to this race. He has a good record at the track and distance and should run well yet again here.
No7 FIRSTHAND was a good winner second up over 1200m here at his home track, he looks to be a much better horse this time in and has now started to settle in his runs, hence why the nose roll has come off. He drops 3kgs and gets Avdulla on here and should run well again.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 FIRSTHAND
No8 BLACK ON GOLD was very good when winning last start and before that got very close to Interlocuter at Randwick. Getting out to the 1900m is only going to suit him here, as it took him all of the 1800m to get over the top. Kathy stays on board here and gets a soft run of it.
No6 INTERLOCUTER has been nothing short of brilliant in all three runs this time in, but after seeing him in the yard last start when winning at Randwick, I want to take him on at the price. He looked as if he has come to the end of his prep where he has produced three booming runs. He will either bounce off that or compound and at $1.90 I want to be against him.
No4 PRINCE CHERI blew out late last start when looming up to win against Black On Gold, he should be further improved from that run and gets a much better run on the map here from gate two, as he can be cuddled up and charge at them late.
No3 NEW TIPPERARY should be much more suited getting further out in distance here and gets Avdulla back on board here, who seems to get the most out of this horse and knows what makes him tick. He hasn’t found the heights that some thought he would have reached, but looks to be back on track after last start.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 PRINCE CHERI
No4 PELORUS JACK blew out late first-up and looked as if he would have a lot of improvement to come from the yard there. He gets a good jockey change with Clark getting back on board who knows him well, 1200m could well be too short for him. But if Clark puts him into the race he will be in the finish.
No6 BEST GUESS gets the apprentice off and Shinn on board here after not the best of rides last start when buried up on the fence. He gets the same run here for Shinn, but he should push him in the race and sit on the leaders back here.
No3 CARELESS CHOICE gets the blinkers off here and has trialled well between leading into the first-up run here. The form that he brings to this from last preparation was nothing short of brilliant without winning. The run where he finished second last, in the QLD Guineas, he should have gone close to winning, as he never got a clear run at them. He will have the last shot at them.
No9 PIPELINE is unbeaten first-up and resumes here after a long break and has trialed in very good fashion leading in. If you look through the form he has, it is quite strong and at his home track fresh he should run well.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 PELORUS JACK
No2 COSMIC ENGINE was very good when resuming as a winner and although he got all the breaks there, he should take a lot of improvement from the yard there fitness wise. Ever since he was gelded he has taken that next step and was a winner second-up last time in.
No5 BROTHER IN ARMS bolted up fresh with 61kgs at Nowra, yes that was a lowly country race. But he carried the big weight fresh and gave them a spanking. He gets a super soft run of it here from gate two. He is a winner second-up in the past and shouldn’t get under the punters guards.
No3 REDOUBLE backs up quickly after winning last weekend in good fashion, Baker does a good job with his horses on the back up and they usually respond quite well. He won in soft fashion last weekend, in what looked to be a good race on paper.
No4 FLOW resumes here from a funny sort of a prep last time in, where nothing really went right for him. Cummings has had control all prep now and the two trials coming in were quite good.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 FLOW
No9 TACTICAL ADVANTAGE (NEXT BEST BET) should be much improved for the first-up run, and hopefully we get a better ride form Glyn here, as he gave this one a sore back. Blinkers on for Joe Pride is a huge tick, that means from gate 2, this horse will be bang on speed and hard to beat. Huge sniff.
No10 POMELO won in brilliant fashion last start, and showed me she was back as I did doubt her going into that run. From the gate she is going to be on speed, potentially leading here and she has such a high cruising speed they may struggle to catch her.
No4 KINSHACHI comes out of a good race fresh and has had the typical Cummings trial between the first and second-up run. She has quite a good second-up record and did run right through the line fresh. Big step back in grade here.
No11 GLENALL resumes yet again for a new trainer, owner loves a stable change. He has only won the one race in five starts. But has some serious form around him. At start four he ran fourth in a galaxy. He has had a good long break, and if he is at his best he can blow them away.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 TACTICAL ADVANTAGE
