Ipswich (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 6

Mon, 20 Nov, 12:00 AM

Ipswich has yet another midweek meeting with some solid fields but it is different because the stakes race the Keith Noud Quality has been added to the programme. It was moved after Doomben was washed out in a freak weather event on Saturday. There has been rain and storms about again and this means the track will be at best on the softer side.

QUADDIES (races 6,7,8,9)

Skinny Play:  2,6/2,3,5/2,5/5,7

Wide Play: 2,3,6,7/2,3,4,5/2,3,5,10/1,5,7,9

Next Best Bet: R1 – 4. DARKTOWN STRUTTER

Best Roughie: R3 – 2. CHAPTER AND VERSE

R1 - 12.08pm. IPSWICH LITTLE THEATRE Class 2 Handicap - 1020m.

No4 DARKTOWN STRUTTER (NEXT BEST BET) Was scratched on Saturday because of the rain. First-up here and has a bad barrier but brilliant winner this track and distance first-up last campaign. Has trialled okay and has pace to overcome the barrier.

No3 PRUE'S ANGEL Another resuming here but has won a recent trial in nice fashion. Winner first-up last time in work and this suits from barrier three.

No6 DON'T LEAVE ME OUT Trialled solidly before good win at the Sunshine Coast at only start. Rates highly here.

No8 MAGIC STREET Has a good record this track and handy effort when second at the Sunshine Coast last start.

R2 - 12.43pm. CHANNEL 7 NEWS Maiden Plate - 1100m.

No7 JUSTIFY Huge wrap on him after he won all three of his trials. Well drawn here and on trial form should win. Just a little niggling doubt at first-up this track.

No11 SNOW SPARKLE Stable has an enormous strike rate with mares coming from NSW country to race here. She is another one and much better than first-up defeat this track when favourite.

No3 STAR ROCK Ran second at both starts in Victoria and has trialled solidly in lead up to first start this area. Looks hard to beat.

No6 FLYING MAGIC First starter who has had five trials over an eight-month period. Finally getting to the races and must be a chance.

R3 - 1.18pm. SCHWEPPES QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate - 1200m.

No6 SIR BARNABUS This is a very tough race but we liked his only start when third at the Gold Coast in a handy maiden two weeks ago. One of the few chances well drawn at the barriers.

No2 CHAPTER AND VERSE (BEST ROUGHIE) First starter who was poor in first trial and then one of the runs of the day when won his second trial at Doomben last week. Sat four deep the whole way and too strong. Time wasn't flash but style of win was.

No5 PIPER BOY First starter and stable rarely trials their horses to do much but both of his have been eye catchers with the latest a good second at Doomben last week.

No13 ALL IMPORTANT Scratched from the Gold Coast on Saturday because of the heavy track. Starting to live up to early wraps and ready to fire here. Stable has five acceptors for this race.

R4 - 1.53pm. SIRROMET WINES Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Handicap - 1350m.

No2 GO THE GANTRY Always tries hard and no luck when fourth this track in a similar race last start. Always an each-way hope.

No3 MEHMETO Strong winner at the Gold Coast last start and in all tens tarts has always been close to the money. Another strong each-way hope.

No4 PARK CHINOIS Good run first-up at Doomben when second and probably should have won. Has won second-up and chance here.

No6 ZAP Winner back in September and four runs since have all been solid without much luck. This isn't hard and gets his chance to win again here.

R5 - 2.28pm. RAY WHITE IPSWICH Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap - 1350m.

No8 SORNJA Handy mare and the stable is really firing at the moment. Freshened before last start Doomben second and ideally placed here at the weights.

No2 LUNA FIORE Winner this track and distance two starts back when led all of the way. Fair run when unplaced in a Doomben Saturday race at her latest effort. Much better placed here.

No5 HIDDEN GOLD The keys to her are soft tracks and plenty of pace on. Gets both here and handy run at the Gold Coast last time when fourth in similar company.

No1 DIAPASON Has very good Melbourne and Sydney form over a bit longer distances. Has had two trials since coming north to Chris Waller's Gold Coast stable. Has won first-up and weight the main worry here.

R6 - 3.03pm. QUEENSLAND TIMES CANNONBALL SERIES - HEAT - Benchmark 75 Handicap - 800m.

No2 PUFF'S GIRL (BEST BET) We usually wouldn't make a special from this barrier at this start. But she seems to race better when she can get away from the fence just off the pace and outside a horse. She should do that here and good win at Toowoomba last time means she is well in here after 3kgs claim.

No6 STELLARCRAFT Doesn't win often but tough as old boots and doesn't look harshly treated here at the weights. Good third last start this track.

No7 TRUCULENT First-up here and stable has good record with fresh runners. Both wins were first-up and has the top jockey which is a good pointer.

No3 TIBROGARGAN MISS To say he can be head strong is an understatement. But has had a stable change and fitter for first-up effort when unplaced at Kilcoy. Has had an easy trial since.

R7 - 3.38pm. CITY OF IPSWICH Class 5 Handicap - 1200m.

No4 JOMAR'S ELEMENT Never runs a bad race this track and winner here last start in good fashion over this distance. That was second run back from a spell and even fitter now.

No5 ZENDAYE Can be hard to catch but strong win at return run from a spell at Kilcoy when had lengths on the opposition. This harder but at best always a threat.

No3 ALWAYS SACRED Has generally been a disappointment this campaign after initially being considered a possible stakes horse. Recent form just okay but this weaker than recent efforts and did win at the Gold Coast three runs back.

No2 SHADOW LORD Recent form this area just fair but likes wet tracks and has 3kgs claim here. On old form would be a big hope.

R8 - 4.13pm. RADIOTAB KEITH NOUD Quality Handica - 1200m.

No2 BIG MONEY Hasn't won for 18 months but won three trials before very good run in strong race at Randwick when third. Don't know if switch from Doomben to Ipswich is a bonus but he should handle the track.

No3 MONSIEUR GUSTAVE Won two stakes races before a break including one at this track. First-up record solid and loves soft tracks. He is one suited by switch to this track.

No5 UPSTART PRIDE Goes very fast and suited by switch to this track where he has won. First-up record is very good and should be hard to beat here.

No10 BROOKLYN STORM Former Sydney galloper who has been racing very well this area and gets into this with a light weight after recent Doomben win. Each-way here.

R9 - 4.50pm. GRANDVIEW STUD Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1690m.

No5 LIKE A RULER Was big odds but led until the last 50m when fifth at Doomben last time. This is easier and should be on the pace again. Each-way claims.

No1 FLYING CHARGER Still has plenty of weight even after a 3kgs claim but is honest and winner at Dalby before northern rivers placing. This isn't the toughest of races.

No7 TENNESSEE FLING Should get a wet track to suit here and has been around the place in similar races without winning of late.

No9 MONTRER DAME We are getting sick of tipping her because she gets back and runs into trouble in most of her races. But another who generally runs well these races and we would hate to miss the day she actually wins.
