We are back racing at Sandown following last Saturday’s massive ten-race feature card where punters witnessed some fantastic and thrilling racing on a marvelous day of great action.

The false rail is at the True position for the 10 races last Saturday and will be left at the same position for today’s eight-race card. The day should be sunny and warm with the track rated as a Good 4.

Wide Play: 1,3,6 – 4,7,8,10 – 1,3,7 -1,6,9,10

Next Best Bet: R7 – 1. HARBOUR GREY

Best Roughie: R7 – 7. ZAGAYA

R1 – 1.00pm. Moorookyle Park Plate – 1400m.

No9 LADY MAHALA has oodles of speed and has done well in campaign with some good runs of late. Has jockey Andrew Mallyon to ride on 56.5kg for co trainers Ellerton and Zahra from Flemington and must be a great chance here.

No7 TRENT will have new gear change of blinkers going on for the first time in career. Latest ran a good second over 1340m maiden at Taralgon on November 4. Has a good draw in barrier one and has one of Melbourne’s best riders Mark Zahra to steer.

No2 RAID THE CABINET has racked up a good record of two placings at four career starts. Ran a great second over 1400m maiden at Echuca two starts ago on October267. Latest run at Moonee Valley was rock solid and respect here,

No4 MERCURY BULLET is another galloper who will have a new gear change with the blinkers going on for the first time in their career. Ran a great fourth over 1212m maiden at Kilmore on November 5 and with Ben Melham on has good claims.

R2 – 1.35pm. Le Pine Handicap – 1200m.

No3 BELLA MARTINI scored a scorching win with a tearaway effort of five lengths over 1200m at Pakenham on July 7. That was 18 weeks since her last start and he was a red hot favourite that day at the tight odds of $1.75.

No1 EGYPTIAN BULLET this is a most talented filly and she has been racing in resounding fashion with three wins from her six starts. Was raised to Group 3 level when finishing a smart eighth over 1100m at Flemington on November 9.

No4 OCEAN DEEP will have a new gear change with the addition of winkers going on here for the first time. She fought hard to post a most narrow win over 1212m in a maiden at Kilmore on November 5 at her sole start. Can go on.

No2 KARDASHING ran a fabulous trial to finish a very strong second over 800m against three-year-old fillies over 800m trial at Cranbourne on November 14. Her previous race form on the track was very good and is a great chance.

R3 – 2.10pm. Chandler McLeod Handicap – 1200m.

No1 ALSVIN gets to wear winkers for the very first time in his career. He ran a terrific race to win at his debut over 1100m in a maiden at sale on October 29. That was over three weeks ago and he will be as fresh as a daisy for this race.

No5 ECHO JET hails from one of the best stables in the country from the evergreen yard of Team Hawkes. He ran a terrific race to run away and win by over two lengths over 1200m maiden at Newcastle on November 4. That was on a Good 4 track.

No7 SCUBA could not have scored a great victory than by absolutely trouncing his opposition of six horses by well over one length over 1160m in a maiden at Benella on November. Looks ideally drawn for this race and can win.

No3 HOLY FREEZE was a great starter to career by smashing his rivals in fabulous style over 1100m in a three-year-old maiden at Hamilton on October 6. Gets in to this race with fabulous claims again and must rate as a good chance.

R4 – 2.45pm. Hamilton Reid Chartered Accountants Handicap – 2400m.

No11 CORRS showed fantastic stealth to score a big win over 2080m in a maiden at Cranbourne on October 13. Was returned to Hamilton where he ran another cracker of a race to run a close second over 2200m. Has great claims in this race.

No2 ALMALITA was absolutely burning last start when he raced away to a brilliant win over 2540m at Cranbourne on November 10. That day he was on fire and gets back into a similar race where he can be a big force again over this distance.

No3 BAYKOOL be cool or be square and this bloke is cool and he gets a good chance here to run a big race after stringing together some very solid efforts over the longer distances on these country tracks. He is a big chance here and like him.

No1 ANEMOI has the excellent record of two wins, two seconds and a third from his 13 starts for a stayer. He must make his presence felt here on his recent outings. He has been placed over the longer distances in the city and will make an impact.

R5 – 3.20pm. Scwheppes Handicap – 1500m.

No9 ATOMIC KITTEN she can lick these lot here on her great recent form. This is a four-year-old mare who scored a fabulous win over 1462m at the good track at Kilmore on November 5. Going to get every chance here and makes very strong appeal against her own sex.

No6 A MIST OPPORTUNITY gets her opportunity to make hay while the sun is shining high above in the sky racing here against her own sex in a 1500m handicap. Forget her last start and go on her other form, which is first class against her own sex over similar distances.

No10 PRIA ECLIPSE has been a most profitable mare for her connections with so many placings at her 27 starts. She has only won twice but finished in the minor placings another 13 times and she will again be inside the money in this race.

No3 BLACKTEIN comes to this racetrack with outstanding form on the country racing circuits under her big belt. She was a fantastic winner over 1400m at Mt Gambier on November 11 and with that form behind her makes a good case here in this company.

R6 – 3.55pm. United Petroleum Handicap – 1600m.

No8 ALMIGHTY (BEST BET) absolutely looks the best bet on this fantastic racing card today. He was a brilliant winner at Newcastle over the distance of 1600m and at his last start looked most unlucky to finish unplaced at Flemington in a big Group 3 race over the Melbourne Cup carnival. With the outstanding jockey Mark Zahra to ride he must rank very highly here in this field.

No7 LAST WEEK don’t worry about last week let’s see what he can do now. He has been gelded and now may be able to concentrate far better.

No11 BARNEY ALLEN is a very smart like galloper who was an amazing winner at his last start in far lower company than this but on that effort must rate.

No4 MAGELLAN is back from having a three-week break from the racetrack. Well on his most current form would rate with good prospects here.

R7 – 4.30pm. Le Pines Funeral Handicap – 1300m.

No1 HARBOUR GREY (NEXT BEST BET) ran an absolutely sensational race at the city track of Flemington to finish a blazing second over 1400m to the great Tribal Wisdom on the big race day of the VRC Oaks back earlier this month on November 9. The six-year-old grey drops right down in class today and absolutely loves this distance with two wins at his four runs over the journey. Makes a very strong case.

No7 ZAGAYA (BEST ROUGHIE) returns to the country following a very good city run where he ran a great eighth over 1600m in the Country Final at Flemington.

No8 SEE ME FLY posted a brilliant win at Mornington three starts ago and his recent form on the country tracks has been right up there.

No3 BOB OF THE HEAD showed plenty of true grit to win over 1105m at Sale recently. Latest was upped in the ante and back down in grade here.

R8 – 5.05pm. Ladbrokes Money Wire Handicap – 1400m.

No1 MINOAN SPIRIT kept on charging at them and got the best result though very narrowly when he won over 1400m at Hamilton on October 29. That was an outstanding performance and from a good draw here in gate seven rates highly again.

No6 CHARLIE CHEVAL came from behind to run home strongly and do very well to land the minor end of the quinella over 1200m at Pakenham on November 12. He has his first start at this track, but on his first-up effort he must rank with the main chances.

No10 SAVVY BELLE has finished right into the placings at her three starts this campaign. She was rewarded for her outstanding efforts to win very well though narrowly over 1411m at Seymour on November 2. She is fresh for this with three weeks between starts.

No9 LADY PROVOCATEUR gave a most solid effort to run a good sixth over 1400m at Ballarat on November 6. That was her first start from a very long spell of 21 weeks. She is going to be much fitter for that start and has a good rider in Jye McNeil.
