Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race. Today’s best bet is in race 1.

Fri, 24 Nov, 12:00 AM

Doomben again for the second day of the summer carnival with two stakes races. The fields have some quality about them and there is plenty of value. There has been some rain about again after the final four races were washed out in a flash flood last week. The track will be soft at best.

QUADDIES (races 6,7,8,9)

Skinny Play:  2,7/4,6/3,9/1,4

Wide Play: 2,3,7,11/2,4,6,9/2,3,9,10/1,4,6,10

Next Best Bet: R7 – 4. RARE OCCURENCE

Best Roughie: R8 – 10. TOO GOOD TO REFUSE

R1 - 11.47am. STAV, ABBY AND MATT QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1200m.

No2 GRIM REAPER (BEST BET) Beaten by Blue Book at his first start but now out to 1200m and he looked the one to take more out of the run. Also meets Blue Book better at the weights.

No1 BLUE BOOK Showed a lot of pace to lead all the way and far too strong at first start this track two weeks ago. Out to 1200m should be no worry but the weight could be.

No3 ROCK ‘N’ SOL Very well bred first starter who was second in a recent trial when not asked to do too much.

No4 MISS SARA Two race starts have been solid and chased home a very smart horse when second this track last week. Not without claims here out to 1200m.

R2 - 12.22pm. RAY GARSKE MEMORIAL Class 3 Plate - 1630m.

No7 LOCUS Living up to early potential with wins at past two starts at Ipswich. Up in class here but should get the run of the race from barrier six.

No8 MONASTERIO Eye catching run last start when came from last to be second this track and distance two weeks back. Won't want to get back that far here but was certainly a top run last time.

No10 ISLA TRISTANA Good Ipswich winner two starts back and then no luck when unplaced at Rosehill last time. This is easier and 1600m suits.

No12 ALCAZAR Started big odds but was never going to get beaten first up at Ipswich. This is much tougher but fitter and suited at this trip.

R3 - 12.57pm. QUPEX Ratings Band 0 - 70 Handicap - 1350m.

No13 NILETTE Honest mare who is suited in this company. Not far away last start and winner this track four starts back. Always an each-way hope in these type of races. Drawn to get run of the race.

No8 AQUA VITE Rewarded for his consistency with a recent Gold Coast win. Then very good when third this track at 1600m at his last start. Coming back to 1350m no help but wet track is a bonus.

No9 GOULDIAN Led and fought on very well when last start Gold Coast winner. This isn't much tougher and should be on the pace again here.

No6 MEHMETO Good Gold Coast winner in an easier race last time and scratched from Ipswich on Wednesday to run here. Each-way hope in a tough race.

R4 - 1.32pm CARLTON MID QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1350m.

No6 MISS MIAO Trialled nicely before first-up win this track and distance last start. No reason why she can't win again as not harshly weighted and soft track won't worry.

No3 COLOSIMO Has been up this campaign for a while and holding her form well. Good third this track last time and this distance suits perfectly. Ready to win again.

No1 ZOFONIC DANCER Unbeaten in three races starts and has been most impressive on each occasion. Not sure this distance with this weight is ideal but has plenty of ability and hard to beat.

No5 ENTERPRISE MOSS Terrific win at Ipswich first-up and then fighting second this track and distance on a track surface that didn't really suit. Barrier no help here.

R5 - 2.08pm. WINNING EDGE PRESENTATIONS Benchmark 90 Handicap - 1050m.

No10 KHALAMA Promising mare who has won a trial in lead up to her resuming in this. Will get back but with plenty of early pace here watch for her late.

No7 POWEFUL SAGA They don't come more honest than this bloke and scored an overdue win at the Gold Coast in early October. Had a freshen-up and well drawn here with a nice weight. Hard to beat.

No3 WICKED INTENT Smart sprinter who has drawn poorly here for return to racing. He won a trial in good fashion two weeks ago and suited this distance. Has a 3kgs claim and just needs some luck from the barrier.

No9 SHE'S MISS DEVINE Former boom mare who has been racing in NSW and Victoria in recent years. Back at Eagle Farm now and has had two trials to get ready for this. Drawn to be in the finish here.

R6 - 2.48pm. G.H. MUMM Benchmark 80 Handicap- 2200m.

No2 THE RUMOUR FILE Scratched here last week because of the heavy track so will not want it too wet. However form has been good and he will be hard to beat again here following recent win this track.

No11 PILLARA Has always shown promise and a strong winner at the Gold Coast last time at 1800m. The run indicated she is looking for 2200m.

No3 CONCESSIONS Form has been strong at the NSW provincial tracks with two wins and a second past three starts. That form is usually good enough to be in the finish of a race like this one.

No7 TONI MAY Has had her share of problems but has been about the pace in all of her recent starts without threatening to win.

R7 - 3.28pm. UBET CLASSIC Fillies & Mares Plate - 1200m.

No4 RARE OCCURRENCE (NEXT BEST BET) Two runs from a spell have been good and she likes this track and the sting out of the ground. Has been placed in stakes class this track and has the services of a top jockey. Drawn barrier one and only worry is the inside going will be chopped up by race 7. But this isn't the hardest of takes races and looks a top chance.

No2 SHEISWHATSHEIS Showed great form up to 1600m before a break. Has won a trial recently and she does have plenty of class. Usually races well on the fresh side.

No6 OUR BEEBEE Has plenty of ability and two runs from a spell have been a fourth and a third when she wasn't suited either time by the way the races were run. Should be plenty of pace early here and that should suit.

No9 OF THE DAY Another mare resuming but there has always been a wrap on her. Won three times last campaign and not knocked about when third behind two open company performers at her recent trial.

R8 - 4.08pm. Sky Racing Tattersall's Recognition Stakes - 1350m.

No2 RUDY Better known these days as a stayer but has trialled twice for his comeback here and won them both most impressively. Has a good first-up record, loves Doomben and likes soft tracks. Plenty of ticks here.

No9 CRACK ME UP Has won in stakes class and sensational run when second under 63kgs last start. This is obviously a lot harder but drops 9kgs and has to be hard to beat from barrier one.

No10 TOO GOOD TO REFUSE (BEST ROUGHIE) Stakes winning galloper who was solid without being overly impressive first-up. Has since been gelded and that might make him a truly top class horse. Respect here.

No3 GOLD SYMPHONY Group 1 standard horse who is resuming here. Wasn't disgraced in last season's Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap this track and distance. Has had two solid trials to get ready for this.

R9 - 5.48pm. HUTCHINSON BUILDERS Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1200m.

No1 AMANAAT Has won his four most recent starts since coming to Queensland from Victoria. Starting to get right up in the weights but looks a future open class winner.

No4 RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR Beaten a nose in course record time last first run back from a spell and then had no chance from a wide barrier when fifth at this track last start. Much better placed here.

No8 MANAYA Quality mare who has more than a few bad habits but on her best behaviour last time to win this track. Dry conditions are a must for her.

No10 IRON GEORGE Has been racing well with no luck last three starts when close up on all occasions. Can win if things go his way.
