Find out how to be a winner if Tom Melbourne runs 2nd again
Australia’s favourite Bridesmaid is running again and everyone is coming to the party.
The WA Championships series kicks off with all eyes on Australia’s unluckiest gelding Tom Melbourne in the Group 1 Railway Stakes over 1600m. Tom has the unenviable record of placing in 58% of his career starts including running second by less than a length in 5 of his last 6 starts. Along the way he’s trumped Group 1 winners like Foxplay, Egg Tart and Tosen Stardom but he has heartbreakingly been beaten home when it matters most. This time around that may well be the case again as Scales of Justice is the race favourite at $6.00*, whilst Tom is predictably the second favourite at $6.50*.
Either way making a place bet seems like a sound move…but we’re actually hoping Tom stays true to form and comes 2nd because it could get pretty lucrative for all if he does.
Whilst William Hill have upped the stakes to $10 for the a 2nd place result also at a max bet of $25.
Come on Tom, stay true to form and be the first loser again!
Good luck on the punt.
