Another Gold Coast Wednesday meeting with mixed fields with some depth in a few of them. The track played truly last Saturday and even with yet more rain about this week should play well again. There does appear to be some value.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 1,3/2/1,2,3/2,10
Wide Play: 1,3,4,9/1,2,3,9/1,2,3,5/1,2,6,10
BEST BET: R7 – 2. DIVINE UNICORN
Next Best Bet: R1 – 4. DVINA
Best Roughie: R9 – 10. STAR STILETTO
No4 DVINA (NEXT BEST BET) Winner past two starts including latest at the Sunshine Coast at this distance. Going very well and only worry is the smaller track here. Does look very hard to beat this small field.
No5 RAINBOW LACE Has been placed her past three starts and this track and distance suits. Chance here if left alone in front from the jump.
No1 DAPPER ONE Consistent and scored overdue win at the Sunshine Coast last time. This is a bit harder but still rates highly.
No2 ONE MANSINI Never has any luck and that was the case again when fourth at Doomben last start. The winner of that race has since won again so respect here.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 RAINBOW LACE
No8 SHESEES EVERYTHING Has run second at all three starts in this class. Resuming here but has had two solid trials for this and has a top jockey and handy barrier. The one to beat.
No9 SOUL SECRETS Very good second at the Sunshine Coast first up after a solid trial. Has excellent form for a race like this in previous campaigns.
No4 ANGEL DANE Has been placed past two starts at Ipswich and Toowoomba. Trained in Toowoomba but stable has a lot of luck at this track.
No1 BEAT THE BEAST First starter who has had two soft trials to get ready for this. Stable has a lot of success for the stud which owns him.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 ANGEL DANE
No7 OUR NETBANK Very good second at only start in a Doomben maiden. Has a good barrier and an in-form jockeys so hard to beat.
No3 TOBASCO Has had three trials in preparation for first start in this. We liked the most recent trial when second at Doomben and on that has a good show here.
No9 SHOWUS YA DIAMONDS Has had four trials to get ready for first start here. The stable is noted for first-up wins and should be respected here. Trials have been solid.
No12 LOVESON Well beaten third at second race start at the Sunshine Coast. But looked in need of the run and hit the line well. Each-way here.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 LOVESON
No5 IOWA Has solid form in NSW provincial races at shorter trips. Bred to run at least 1800m and on best form in the south looks the one to beat here.
No3 PIXIE HOLLOW Has been crying out for at least 1800m with placings past two starts in this company. Bred to win a Brisbane Cup and looks hard to toss here.
No8 NOREENA Placed past three starts in the northern rivers in shorter races. Looks like 1800m will suit and another hope in a tough race.
No6 MATCH DAY Has had a lot of chances to win a maiden but placed past two starts at Ipswich in middle distance maidens. Fit and has an each-way chance again.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 NOREENA
No2 BONSHO Very fast mare who scored an impressive win at Ipswich last start. The 900m is ideal for her and should be able to sit behind the pace until the straight.
No3 ALATORA Won twice in the northern rivers and then very good fourth last time in a harder race at Doomben. The only worry is the tricky barrier.
No1 LA DOLCE VITA Now with her third stable but racing well with a win and a third past two starts in the northern rivers. Handy and always a hope these short course races.
No5 BRILLIANT DIVA Two runs from a spell have been just fair but usually goes better as her campaigns go on and has won this track and distance. Expect her to improve.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 BRILLIANT DIVA
No3 LORD OF THE DREAMZ Placed past two starts this track and class and didn't have much luck either time. Beaten behind two promising horses at latest runs and gets his chance to win here.
No4 FRENCH DESCENT Won a trial like a future winner and then first-up no luck when second this track and class. Gets his chance against a handy field here.
No1 REACHER Looked in need of the run when well beaten at Doomben in a maiden first-up. Has since trialled nicely and on best Sydney form would win this.
No9 KNIGHT'S HONOUR Placed twice in this type of race last month. Two runs since have been solid without being too smart. Give one more chance here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 REACHER
No2 DIVINE UNICORN (BEST BET) Lightly raced but promising horse who won only start before a spell and then very good second at Ipswich behind a very promising horse at first run when resuming. The 1400m is ideal and he looks too good for these.
No1 TAKARAKKA Very consistent of late without winning. Hasn't run for nearly a month since finishing second at the Sunshine Coast. Each-way again.
No3 WINDCATCHER Stable has an enormous win strike of late and won this track two starts back before not really suited by the track conditions when third here at last start. Definite hope again.
No9 FUSI FOX Will be the outsider of this field but likes to roll along in the lead and there doesn't appear much other pace her. On occasions can run good races at big prices and this might be one of them.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 WINDCATCHER
No5 ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM He is a most consistent galloper in these type of races and followed three consecutive minor placings with a close-up fourth this track last start in a harder race. Always a top each-way hope and has barrier one here which is a big help.
No2 MR ATTITUDE Having his first start since July here and went around for a look when last in a Doomben trial recently. Has handy fresh form and this isn't very strong.
No3 MAN IN CHARGE Form is good with a Sunshine Coast win and then a third behind a horse which won a city race last Saturday at Doomben. He would have been the top tip if not for the tricky barrier from this start.
No1 TORANDO OF SOULS Wyong winner earlier in his career and now with an in-form stable based at this track. Has had a fairly solid trial for resumption here and rates respect.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 MR ATTITUDE
No1 LOVE AND LIES Has plenty of weight here but has raced well in much better company than this. Last-start third at first run back from a spell at Doomben was in a far stronger race. Hard to beat here.
No10 STAR STILETTO (BEST ROUGHIE) Has been close up past four starts in this type of race with latest a second this track a month ago. Will be value odds here and drawn to get the run of the race.
No6 LUCKY SHOW GIRL Has an outstanding record this track with four wins and two seconds from six starts. Beaten first-up at Murwillumbah when fourth but is much better this track and distance.
No2 EAT MY TRUST Resuming here and has had a solid trial to get ready for return. Last campaign showed her was up to city class with wins in stronger company than this. Only worry is the big weight.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 STAR STILETTO
