Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 7.

Fri, 1 Dec, 12:00 AM

Doomben again for the third summer carnival day with four stakes races. The fields have some quality about them and as was the case last week there is value in most races. There has been plenty of rain about again and the track will again be on the soft side.

QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny Play:  2,4.2/2,14/2,6,14

Wide Play:  2,4,5,15/1,2,3,4/2,5,12,14/3,6,9,14

Next Best Bet: R5 – 2. COOROI CHASE

Best Roughie: R4 – 5. COUNTER MEAL

R1 - 1.22pm. Hamilton Hotel Benchmark 90 Handicap - 2200m.

No2 ANTON EN AVANT Has a good record this track and distance and slogged away for a good third here last time. Has a claim here and looks very well in at the weights. The main worry is a lack of early pace.

No1 MY GIULIANO Has won his past two starts this track at 2000m and 2200m. Has gone up in the weights and doesn't want a really wet track but chance again.

No4 THE RUMOUR FILE Has run home strongly for a win and a second this track past two starts. Another who gets back but has to be in the finish here provided it isn't too wet.

No6 HUNDRED Will be the outsider here but good winner in a weaker race in Toowoomba last start. Should lead here and might sneak a win.

R2 - 1.57pm. Stanley River Thoroughbreds Ratings Band 0-70 Handicap - 1050m.

No1 I'VE GOTTA NEL Has been racing well and a good second behind a very smart horse this track last start. Wet track is no worry and has a good barrier.

No3 STELLARCRAFT Has won this track and distance and has been placed past two starts in handy provincial fields. Another who is well drawn here.

No7 OH BOY Went very fast last start and just faded last 100m in a similar race to this. Is fitter now and a good hope.

No8 STAR JUSTICE Good Ipswich winner and then no luck when third in a similar race to this last start this track. Each-way again.

R3 - 2.32pm. Twilight Races 8th December 2017 - Sizzling Plate 2YO - 1050m.

No8 DREAM SERENADE Trialled okay before first start when fifth in a Doomben two-year-old and showed good pace. Has race experience on most of these and looks a good hope from a nice barrier.

No11 KATY’S DAUGHTER First starter who has not had an official trial but her entire family are early two-year-old winners so demands respect here.

No12 VERANES Well-bred first starter from a noted two-year-old stable who won a trial at Doomben in very good fashion. Looks an early comer.

No3 OSBECK From the top Sydney stable and on a Gold Coast trial in preparation for first start here. Has the inside barrier which is a big help this track.

R4 - 3.08pm. SEQ Ice Cream Benchmark 85 Handicap - 1200m.

No1 IN HIS STRIDE Has been racing in stakes company and down in grade here. Always takes time to hit his straps in a campaign and ready to show his best here after a fifth in the Keith Noud Quality. Weight the only worry.

No5 COUNTER MEAL (BEST ROUGHIE) A very good wet track horse and would start close to favourite in heavy going. Resuming and races well fresh on all tracks. Has had an easy trial for comeback and will be value on a dry track.

No7 RINGO'S A ROCKSTAR Has had no luck in three runs back from a spell and flew home late for fourth this track. Again drawn poorly but luck must go his way soon.

No6 COURTZA KING Has been racing well since a spell and was a handy third last start at 1200m and this is no harder. Never far away.

R5 - 3.48pm. Bobby Clarke Mode Plate - 1200m.

No2 COOROI CHASE (NEXT BEST BET) Handy filly in all going but extra good on heavy tracks. There will be sting out of the ground and that suits her. Last start demolished a three-year-old field on a wet track.

No3 PRETTY FAST Has won three in a row in NSW with the latest at Rosehill three weeks ago. Smart filly and looks well and truly up to this class. Stable has a great strike rate in Brisbane. Is bred to be a wet track horse.

No8 SOLO MELODY Won two races at the provincials and then no luck on a bog track when fourth this track last start. Good value hope here.

No6 COOL MOVER Has shown ability in previous campaigns and we liked her trial win at the Gold Coast recently. This isn't a hard Listed race.

R6 - 4.28pm. Become a BRC Member - Class 6 Handicap - 1600m.

No2 NO ANNAMOSSITY Has been racing in great fashion with wins his past three starts in similar company to this. The 1600m won't worry and bred to be a real mudlark.

No15 AQUA VITE Has been very honest and won the Gold Coast three runs back and then followed it with two handy city runs. A wet track would help with the light weight.

No4 LORD COCONUTS Has had a lot of chances of late and getting back before running home hard in his races. This type of race suits and is overdue to live up to his potential.

No5 THE AMATEUR Won three races in a row before last start when struggled against better horses this track. Should lead this field and be hard to run down.

R7 - 5.08pm. Access Insulation Winning Rupert Plate - 1200m.

No2 BRING IT HOME POP (BEST BET) Very good three year old who was tough with first-up win on a bog track this course two weeks ago. Form as a two-year-old was also very good and looks the one to beat.

No1 CAPITAL GAIN Won the Group one J J Atkins Handicap over 1600m as a two-year-old and has shown form fresh. Looks well placed here at the weights and had a nice trial where not asked to do much recently.

No4 SAINT PATRICKS DAY Stakes winning three-year-old who was much better at second run back from a spell when second on a wet track here two weeks ago. Ready to show his best now.

No3 MISHANI BULLITT Honest galloper who has been hampered by big weights in his career and back to set weights here. Has been freshened for this and does go well when runs are spaced.

R8 - 5.48pm. SUA George Moore Stakes - 1200m.

No2 MONSIEUR GUSTAVE Most improved galloper who has won his past three starts in stakes company. Latest was in the Keith Noud Quality at Ipswich. Has won three times second-up and unbeaten in four starts on soft racks.

No5 CALANDA Ran a course record when winning the Ramornie Stakes at Grafton in July and two runs from a spell good. Was fourth at Flemington last time in a Listed race.

No14 BROOKLYN STORM Light weight chance here after winning this track and then third in the Keith Noud Stakes last time.

No12 HI I'M BACK Loves this track and while this is a bit tougher than he has been racing in looks a chance on fourth to Keith Noud Quality at Ipswich last time when no luck in the straight.

R9 - 6.27pm. Ascot Green - Class 3 Plate - 1200m.

No3 DOWNLOADING Closely related to champion Buffering and has won his past two starts. This is no tougher and just needs some luck in the big field.

No9 DOUBT DEFYING Has a warp on him and is resuming here on the back of two trials where the latest as handy. Respect fresh.

No14 L'ELU Former Sydney horse who won a Gold Coast trial in nice fashion and then unlucky first start this area when third at Ipswich.

No6 VALFIERNO Run off his legs last start on a track which suited leaders. Previous form was good for a race like this.
