Gold Coast (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Gold Coast. Today’s best bet is in race 7.

Fri, 1 Dec, 12:00 AM

The Gold Coast is backing up from a nine event program on Wednesday where the track played truly. South east Queensland is a strange place weather wise. On Wednesday Doomben, which wasn't racing, got 65mm of rain while the Gold Coast got 2mm. In other words always wait to see what the weather is doing before betting at this time of the year. The track condition can literally change dramatically in an hour.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play:  1,3/2/,2,3/5,6

Wide Play: 1,2,3,9/1,2,7,8/2,3,5,6/5,6,8,9

Next Best Bet: R4 - 2. RED PHANTOM

Best Roughie: R2 – 12. ISAVERDICT

R1 - 12.38pm. HAWKINS MEDIA Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap - 1400m.

No5 MAGIC SCENT Trialled nicely before first-up run when little luck and fifth this track. Suited out to 1400m now.

No1 DANGER IN DEVON Has some good Victorian form in previous campaigns and trialled well before first run this area when fifth in a Gold Coast maiden.

No10 EUNGAI Has yet to run a place in six starts and resuming here without a trial. But this very weak and he has been not far from the place money a few times.

No4 SONIC BLOOM Has been solid in three runs from a spell after trialling well in the lead up. Barrier no help but each-way here.

R2 - 1.13pm. MERCURY INSTALLATIONS Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap - 1400m.

No3 FORTUNATELY Good run when stormed home for second this track at last start. Has some previous solid form and 1400m suits very well.

No10 ODELIA Good third at Ballina at second run back from a spell indicated 1400m around this track will suit.

No12 ISAVERDICT (BEST ROUGHIE) Form looks only fair but not sure the way her recent races have been run suited her. The 1400m around here looks more to her liking and will be big odds.

No5 VERILY Has started since June when good fourth in a maiden at the Sunshine Coast. Has had two trials for comeback here and if it is wet her whole family are mud larks.

R3 - 1.48pm. STRIKER FABRICATIONS QTIS Three-Years-Old Class 2 Handicap - 1400m.

No2 MASONDALE Two runs have been very good and won a maiden here last start. Looks the one to beat again.

No7 TIME TO PLAY Landed some big bets when winner this track two starts back and then struck trouble when mid field last time at Ipswich.

No4 ROSEXCEL Was big odds at second start but too strong when won a Sunshine Coast maiden. A wet track would help.

No1 ZAP Tough as old boots and flashed home late when third over 1350m at Ipswich last start. The 1400m suits here.

R4 - 2.26pm. ONEHUB BUSINESS GROUP Class 1 Handicap - 1800m.

No2 RED PHANTOM (NEXT BEST BET) Has always shown promise and lived up to it when won a 1600m maiden at the Sunshine Coast and then no luck when fourth this track and distance next start. Ready to win again.

No1 SOLARCRAFT Scored an overdue maiden win this track last start and out to 1800m now which suits. Strong hope again.

No5 TEMUJIN'S RULE Giant of a horse who led all of the way to win at the Sunshine Coast over 1600m last start. Has to be a chance here again.

No8 EKSPRESS KING Forget last start when well beaten at Ballina on a track which didn't suit. Had some strong northern rivers form previously.

R5 - 3.08pm. NERANG RSL Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1800m.

No1 HI HARRY Continues to race well at the provincial meetings and winner this track early last month at 1800m. Has had a trial win since at Grafton and looks ready to win again.

No3 CONGELATOR Racing well and winner Toowoomba and Doomben before last start third at Roma in the $50,000 Cup. Chance back to this grade.

No2 POLYNIKES Has had three runs since winning a trail back in September. Form just fair but better now out to 1800m and might lead here.

No9 ALFIE JUNIOR Will be good odds here but recent form has been solid at the provincial tracks. Will run the trip and wet track will help.

R6 - 3.48pm. TANGALOOMA Class 1 Handicap - 900m.

No2 JADENTOM Resuming here without an official trial. Won in Toowoomba and then midfield in a very good three year old back in March. Is pretty smart.

No1 VIENNA POWER Won his only start at Ipswich in May and second in a recent Doomben barrier trial. Looks the obvious quinella horse with No2.

No8 SPLASH OF CRISTAL Took a long time to win her maiden which did this track and distance last time. But might go with it now.

No7 SWISS LOVE Form before a spell was just okay but she has won this track and distance and usually goes well fresh.

R7 - 4.28pm. DON ALROE & SONS Class 3 Plate - 1400m.

No2 VAULTING AMBITION (BEST BEST) A case of third time lucky here as we have tipped him our specials past two starts for him to record a third and a second. Both times he was unlucky and with any luck after a 3kgs claim here he can win.

No6 ALPENGLOW Toowoomba winner three starts and form since has been solid. Always an each way hope these type of races.

No3 BALBOA ROCKS He is a city class horse at his best and solid return when third at the Sunshine Coast first up. Loves wet tracks.

No5 SPIRAL Much travelled galloper who is never far away in whatever he contests. Good third at Ipswich last time gives him a hope here.

R8 - 5.04pm. KATE HAWKINS 50TH Class 2 Handicap - 1200m.

No5 DIAMONDS ARE Trialled very well before first-up win this area two weeks ago. Hard to beat but like several others in this race engaged elsewhere this weekend. Top chance if starts here.

No6 MAYBE EVEN YOU Resuming here but had solid form before a spell and this isn't very hard. Rates highly as has good Sydney and NSW country form.

No8 GO DAISY Hasn't run since winning a maiden here in August. Has some form around handy horses and can go well fresh here without an official trial.

No9 LOOKS LIKE ELVIS Another horse engaged in several places this weekend. This is far easier than last start when well beaten in a Doomben Saturday three year old but previous form solid for this.
