Newcastle for Sunday provincial racing here in Sydney region, we have 8 races on the card with small fields here due to the races on Saturday too. The rail is in the true position and with the rain around we may well be on soft going.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play:  2,7  -  5,7  -  5,10  -  2,4,6

Wide Play:  2,5,7  -  2,5,7  -  5,10,14  -  2,4,6,8

Next Best Bet: R7 – 5. JUVENTUS

Best Roughie: R8 – 2. TRAVANCORE

R1 – 12.54pm. Newcastle Master Builders 3yo & up Maiden Handicap - 900m.

No1 KANGA’S EYE (BEST BET) comes out of two brilliant form races and has changed stables since the last preparation. On debut in the Gimcrack she was awesome when just missing behind Jorda. The trial leading in was nothing short of fantastic and I have to be with her.

No3 HANK SCORPIO besides been brilliantly named has trialled in good time coming in.

No7 ZEGOTA pulled up with issues last start when short odds. Tongue tie on.

No2 HOLLYWOOD ROSE has trialled well coming into the debut run and should be respected.

R2 – 1.29pm. PGH Bricks & Pavers Benchmark 60 Handicap - 2300m.

No3 AURORA ROSE won in good style last week at Goulburn. The quick back up should be no issue at all for her and she looks the one here.

No2 MOUNT BULLA won well last start at the course, the step up to the 2300m shouldn’t be a worry here.

No4 SPORTSTAR SAMUEL gets a good run on the map here from gate 1 and has been going well.

No7 LADY MONTOYA gets in well at the weights after the claim and has been going well enough as if late.

R3 – 2.04pm. All Steel Sheds Maiden Handicap - 1300m.

No3 STONE has been gelded coming into this preparation and comes out of some good form races last time in and the trials were good.

No8 THUNDERBUNNY comes out of a good race on debut where the form has held up, the 1300m suits.

No4 EXPIERROMENT has trialled well leading into the second preparation and comes out of a good race on debut.

No5 SOVIET comes out of a good race last start behind a few handy horses, Ace High and Unforgotten to name a few. The trials have been good.

R4 – 2.39pm. MBA Hunter Division F&M Class 2 Handicap - 1400m.

No2 LADDER resumes here for the new trainer and has been trialing well in the lead up to this. She is well weighted after the claim.

No5 GOLLY MISS SOLLY has won the last two in very good fashion and the big open spaces of Newcastle suit.

No1 LOVELETTER really hasn’t lived up to the early hype that she had. The run last start wasn’t too bad however.

No3 MULL OVER resumes here, and has been trialing up in good fashion leading into this.

R5 – 3.15pm. Max Lees Classic - 900m.

No2 JONKER won a trial in brilliant time by 9 lengths, they may not be able to catch him here.

No7 HANDSPUN has trialled in good fashion leading into the debut run, I love the gate for Avdulla as he has options in the run. She looks an early filly.

No5 SIZZLEONTHEBRIDGE needs to be respected leading into the debut run as he would have been set for this.

No3 PAQUIRRI improved a lot from trial to trial, and if he continues on that upward spiral he could run well here.

R6 – 4.00pm. Hit106.9 C,G&E Class 2 Handicap - 1400m.

No5 SPRING CREEK STAR has been going quite well and was run down late last start, the form around is good.

No7 I CAN HEAR MUSIC has been in quite good form as of late and at home need to respect.

No2 MAGICALEASE has won the last two in good fashion, this is a step up. But it is hard to knock winners.

No4 GRAVITATE looks to be next best here, he got too far back last start. But the run at Goulburn two back was good.

R7 – 4.39pm. Mark Hughes Foundation Prov & Crty Maiden Plate - 1300m.

No5 JUVENTUS (NEXT BEST BET) should improve a lot from the first-up run, he is an impressive type of horse who had to make a long run and looked to blow out in condition late at Canterbury, and this is a weaker race.

No10 KATHAIRE was quite good last start at Hawkesbury, she should take a lot of improvement from that.

No14 HEAT HAZE has been good in both runs this time in and up to the 1300m looks to be suitable.

No1 BALAHA looks to be next best in a race which drops away quickly.

R8 – 5.15pm. Robert Thompson Cup Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1200m.

No2 TRAVANCORE (BEST ROUGHIE) resumes here and comes out of some very good races last time in and the trials have been good.

No4 EL VENETIAN resumes here and looks the likely leader in the race, the form around is quite good.

No6 INTUITION won the maiden in stylish fashion first-up. She should improve off that and run well again.

No8 OAKFIELD CAPTAIN won at a big price on debut, but ran quite good time. I have to respect the form.
