Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 7.

Thu, 7 Dec, 12:00 AM

Doomben for the second leg of back-to-back Friday and Saturday meetings. Why is anyone's guess as the track has already taken a real pounding. There is rain about but as we saw last Saturday the track dries very quickly. Only problem is there is usually a fast lane which develops and it can suit horses on the pace. So bet late when the pattern emerges.

Next Best Bet: R8 – 4. CRACK ME UP

Best Roughie: R9 – 2. STEEL ZIP

R1 - 12.22pm. Sky Racing QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1200m.

No3 KING OF THE NORTH Showed explosive pace out of the barriers to lead all the way in a Sunshine Coast two-year-old at his debut. This is harder but still down in the weights and looks hard to beat.

No1 BLUE BOOK Has shown a lot of pace to lead all of the way to win both his starts at shorter trips. Should have no trouble with the step up to 1200m. Slight worry is the step up in weight.

No2 FULLAZABOOT At only start was too strong for a Doomben two-year-old field on a heavy track. Should handle the dry and 1200m and has won a trial since first-start win.

No8 ANIMAL SPIRITS Beat Blue Book in a trial before first start when third to that horse on a very heavy track. The return to a drier surface and 1200m a big plus.

R2 - 12.57pm. WWW.BRC.COM.AU Ratings Band 0 - 70 Handicap - 1350m.

No3 MEHMETO Has been racing very well and win at Gold Cost was followed by a strong third this track last time. Has a top jockey and a good barrier so hard to beat.

No11 BENFICA PRINCESS Very smart on her day and was a good first-up winner at the Gold Coast. Needs fast early pace or she can over race. Has a top jockey and pace to suit here.

No13 SORNJA Strong Sunshine Coast winner at 1200m last time. Suited this distance with the pace on and ready to win again.

No4 NIGHT ATTIRE Always tries hard and no luck when third at Ipswich behind two smart horses last start. Each-way claims are strong again.

R3 - 1.32pm. NO CRACKS PLUMBING QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1600m.

No4 BOOM BOOM EPIC Excellent second at 1350m this track last start. Rarely runs a bad race and still down on the minimum weight. Looks the one to beat now he is at 1600m.

No2 ZOFONIC DANCER Won first three races in strong fashion and then found to be short when unplaced this track over 1350m last time. Back to 1600m suits very well.

No1 MAGNUFIGHTER Wasn't far off top two-year-old company last season and two runs since a spell have produced strong wins this track. Stepping up to 1600m which is no problem the big weight might be.

No5 NASHVILLE SKYLINE Promising filly who won at the Gold Coast and then third this distance at the Sunshine Coast last start. Back against own age here.

R4 - 2.08pm. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONSTER UBET 'Origin' Jockey Series Class 2 Plate - 1600m.

No7 SHADOW VISION NSW visitor who has solid provincial form. Raced here in the winter without much luck and this looks a nice race to begin summer Queensland campaign.

No13 SOCIAL VAMPIRE Just fair first-up at the Gold Coast. But did trial solidly before first-up run and has a great second-up record. This suits.

No2 CHAMALU Not a bad run last start when not far from placegetters in a harder race this track and distance. Gets a chance to win here.

No3 DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE Ran home well to be fifth in a harder race this track and distance last start. Ideally placed here.

R5 - 2.48pm. MONIER 'TOP CAT' IN ROOFING No Metro Wins Handicap - 1200m.

No1 DRUMBEAT'S CHOICE Never a winning hope last start in a tougher race at this track. Previous form was solid for this type of race and is one of the few chances to have drawn well.

No10 RUTHLESS AGENT Racing well in NSW provincial areas and hasn't been far away in some Sydney races. Has a bad barrier here but with luck will be right in the finish.

No4 IRON GEORGE Has plenty of talent and showed it with last start Toowoomba win. Has strong provincial form and no luck only city start. Each-way here.

No8 ZENDAYE Has won his past two starts at the provincial tracks. Can race up on the pace which is an advantage here. One of the main hopes.

R6 - 3.28pm. MULTI SYSTEMS ELECTRICAL UBET 'Origin' Jockey Series Class 6 Plate - 2000m.

No9 MONASTERIO Has been very strong at the finish of his past two starts at 1600m with the latest a barn storming win. Gives every indication this trip is ideal and he looks very hard to beat again.

No6 SINGING Recent form is in Sydney where he has been struggling. Has won twice at this trip and this is easier than last couple. The stable has a great strike rate in Brisbane.

No5 KARAKABEEL Placed past three starts in middle distance races. Seems to get to the lead in the straight and then stop last 100m. Might be better if saved for one final shot at them.

No3 INGEEGOODBE Won four races over a middle distance last campaign and is one of the most promising stayers in Queensland. Good effort first up at 1600m last time and should be fitter now.

No7 OUR BEEBEE (BEST BET) Has run very well in three starts since a spell but is yet to win. Ran home strongly last time for second at 1200m this track. Out to the right distance for her and she has stayed right down in the weights. With plenty of early pace assured here will be flying home late.

No3 SHEISWHATSHEIS Showed good form earlier this year and led for a long way when first-up fifth at 1200m this track last start. Should lead again here and is fitter for this. Respect.

No11 MANAYA There are plenty of chances this race but she has been racing well with a win and then unlucky fifth this track. This is an ideal distance and race for her.

No1 COL ‘N’ LIL Well beaten first up in the Keith Noud Quality at 1200m. But better placed against own sex and at this distance. She has won three stakes races but big worry is she is only tiny and the big weight here.

No4 CRACK ME UP (NEXT BEST BET) Has won three stakes race in past four starts with the other a second under 63kgs first-up two runs back. Won the Recognition Stakes at 1350m last time and better at 1600m. Up in weight but looks very hard to beat.

No1 RUDY Winner of over $1million dollars and was strong to the line first up when fifth in the Recognition Stakes. Is a Group 2 winner at 1600m and meets a few of his opponents better at the weights here.

No11 EMPHASIS Forget his last-start failure on a very heavy track over 2200m. Back to his pet track and distance here and looks as the best value in a strong race.

No12 ZAHSPEED Good run to win this track and distance two runs back and then not disgraced when third in Sydney at his last start. This is tough but at least we know he will race on the pace.

R9 - 5.25pm. BECOME A MEMBER AT BRC No More Than One Metro Win This Year Handicap - 1350m.

No3 BECKHAM Stepping back in grade on recent efforts and usually takes time to get to his best each campaign. Well suited here at fourth run in from a spell and has top international jockey.

No5 PRIVLAKA Never looked like getting beaten when led all of the way to win at 1400m at the Sunshine Coast last time. Back to town now but does like this track when the sting is out of it.

No2 STEEL ZIP (BEST ROUGHIE) Has had two trials winning one at Deagon since last start in October. Old enough to vote but well in here with a 3kgs claim and capable of a surprise at big odds.

No8 LUCKY TOM Will be huge odds here but this is easier than last-start failure in the Recognition Stakes. Has scored surprise wins this track and distance on occasions and should be near the lead for a long way here.
