Newcastle for our Saturday meeting here in the Sydney area. We have 8 races on the card with small fields here, due to racing on Sunday too. There is some rain around, but this track dries out quite well. So we should be on a good surface with the rail out 3m.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play:  2,3   -  7  -  2,4,6  -  1,2

Wide Play:  2,3,5  -  5,6,7  -  2,4,6,9  -  1,2,6,7

BEST BET: R4 – 7. UNWISE

Next Best Bet: R6 – 7. SEAHAMPTON

Best Roughie: R7 – 2. MR SMART

R1 – 12.59pm. Kay Maddison Retirement Celebration F&M Maiden Handicap - 1400m.

No3 HEAT HAZE comes out of a good enough race last start at the track. She ran fast time last there and found the line well. The step up to 1400m suits well here.

No4 LIGHTS OF COMO has been working well towards a good run as of late and gets a soft run from the barrier.

No2 SAVETHELASTDANCE has been trialing up well enough in typical Hawkes fashion, they are starting to find form as a stable and should be respected.

No1 RUGOSA ROSE was rolled at Bathurst last start, but it was by one of Bjorns, should improve second-up.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 LIGHTS OF COMO

R2 – 1.34pm. Honeywell Industrial Safety C,G&E Maiden Handicap - 1400m.

No2 PIERINO was quite good on debut and found the line well there. Stepping up to 1400m looks to be suitable here.

No3 STARVINO gets the blinkers on for the debut run here and has been trialing up well, to run a race on debut.

No4 EURO GOLD comes out of a good race last start at Randwick on cup day, the form has held up well out of that.

No1 CALIFORNIA TURBO has improved with each trial leading into the debut run, watch the market as it will tell all.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 EURO GOLD

R3 – 2.09pm. Bolle Safety Australia Benchmark 74 Handicap - 1200m.

No1 ALL SUMMER LONG resumes in a race that he can easily win, he brings a good fresh record and has trialed well enough coming in.

No2 GOOD TIME CHARLIE comes out of much better races than this leading in. I don’t know if he has that killer punch. This is his chance to show us he has it.

No6 MALAIGO has been going well enough as of late and gets a good run from the inside gate.

No3 SHOW ‘EM looks to be next best here in a race which should be dominated by the top two.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 MALAGIO

R4 – 2.44pm. Prochoice Australia 3yo Maiden Plate - 900m.

No7 UNWISE (BEST BET) comes out of a hot race on debut behind Catchy and Limestone, since then we have seen both go on to be competitive in Group 1 races, with Catchy winning the Diamond. She has had a long break coming into this new prep and has trialled well coming in. I think she has a lot of upside and is well placed.

No1 PUPPET MASTER comes out of a good race last start where he started fav, second-up he should improve.

No5 MY LITTLE TRAMP has been trialing well coming into the debut and should run well.

No2 TITUS looks to be next best here in a race which drops away.

VALUE RUNNER: No5 MY LITTLE TRAMP

R5 – 3.16pm. Iccons Serious Connections Class 2 Handicap - 900m.

No2 BISCUIT TIME resumes here and is quite a speedy filly, she seems to go well for the apprentice and should run well fresh.

No3 MISS GIGI has been going well enough over the short course as of late, she drops well in weight here.

No5 BIG REG did a good job at Dubbo on debut, coming from a tricky spot to find the line there.

No4 BARR HILL beat Miss Gigi last start, but meets worse at the weights, but should run well again.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 MISS GIGI

R6 – 3.56pm. The CSS Group Maiden Plate - 1200m.

No7 SEAHAMPTON (NEXT BEST BET) comes out of an awesome race on debut behind Ace High and Unforgotten. Ace High has since won the Derby, while Unforgotten looks a Group class mare. She started $7.50 in that race, which is a strong SP considering the form. The trial leading in was brilliant and I’m half expecting a gap job.

No5 LIBRARIES is brilliantly bred, and has been trialing up well enough coming in.

No6 ON FIRE BEACH has improved with each trial leading into the debut and should run well.

No9 TE AMO resumes here and was very highly thought of as a 2yo, they even went to the Karaka millions, big wrap! The trials coming in have been solid.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 ON FIRE BEACH

R7 – 4.36pm. 3M Personal Safety Division Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1350m.

No2 MR SMART (BEST ROUGHIE) was solid enough in a race in the same grade last start, he is well weighted after the claim and should run well again.

No4 ALLCASH was good enough first-up in Australia for Waller, he drops in grade which is a weird one, but this isn’t the best race.

No6 ROYAL STAMP has been going ok enough in a grade like this as of late and finds Penza here.

No9 SCULPTURES gets a good run from the barrier here and with the blinkers off should run well.

VALUE RUNNER: No2 MR SMART

R8 –5.16pm. MSA The Safety Company Class 1 Handicap - 1300m.

No2 INQUIRY comes out of some good form races in his short career and has been trialing up in brilliant order and should go close here.

No1 MO THE GREAT was a good winner first-up from a spell when well backed, second-up he should improve and run well again.

No6 KOONUNGA has some ability there, and was ok enough first-up. Now second-up she should run well after running well fresh in a good race.

No7 VINNIE POWER comes out of the same race as Koonunga last start, the formlines around Pretty Fast two back is quite good.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 KOONUNGA
