Doomben (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 7.

Mon, 18 Dec, 3:52 PM

Poor old Doomben again for a midweek meeting this time. At least it gets a rest this Saturday. The false rail is nearly in the car park at 10.5 metres but there is some depth in most fields. There are storms about so watch the weather closely.

QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny Play:  1,4/2,5/1,7/5,10

Wide Play:  1,2,4,5/2,3,5,7/1,2,7,8/2,5,8,10

Next Best Bet:  R6 - 1. PRIORITISE

Best Roughie: R3 – 8. TIME TO PLAY

R1 - 1.38pm. BECOME A MEMBER @ BRC Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap - 1200m.

No5 BOSCOBELLA Two race starts produced fourths both in stronger races than this. Has trialled well and just needs luck from a tricky barrier draw.

No7 EXCRUCIATE Starting to wear out her welcome with a fifth at the Gold Coast last start. Got a long way back and might be closer from good barrier draw,

No1 ABSTAIN Has run seven minor placings in his ten starts. Never has much luck and always worth an each-way ticket.

No2 SPRING GLORY Former Victorian who was only fair two runs there. But we did like her recent trial and rates some hope here.

R2 - 2.13pm. HAMILTON HOTEL Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap - 1200m.

No4 MR DUMONT Had no luck first-up when fourth this track and on that run would nearly win this. Has to overcome a poor barrier.

No7 WALLANDER Well-bred first starter who has won two of his three trials to date. Has ability but another who needs luck from the barrier.

No1 REACHER Should have probably won last start when good second at Ipswich. Ready to win but has a poor barrier here.

No3 ALLON ZEE Only race start was in a much stronger two-year-old race nearly two years ago. Has trialled solidly twice for comeback here and deserves respect.

R3 - 2.48pm MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS Three-Years-Old Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1350m.

No6 LOOKS LIKE ELVIS Back in his right grade here after finishing fifth in a stakes race last time. Well waited and showing promise.

No2 CRUZE Good run first-up when fourth in a much tougher race and should have finished closer. Considered good enough to take to Sydney for a race last campaign.

No1 ZUKAZ Never runs a bad race and won at Sunshine Coast three starts back before two strong efforts next two when not far from the winner. This is tougher but big hope.

No8 TIME TO PLAY (BEST ROUGHIE) Winner two of past three starts in easier company but handles all track surfaces and this race will be run to suit.

R4 - 3.22pm. Sky Racing Class 1 Handicap - 1660m.

No2 EXPERTEA Showing good ability of late and had no luck when fourth in a Saturday race behind a couple of smart horses. Looks well placed here.

No5 IOWA Very well bred mare who won her maiden at the Gold Coast over 1800m. This distance probably suits better and has a chance.

No1 BRICKHALL Took a while to win his maiden after showing plenty of ability. Good win last time and ready to go on with it now.

No6 ARAZONA Strong at the end of 1600m when second at the Sunshine Coast last start. A similar run will see her in the finish.

R5 - 3.58pm. GIRLS DAY OUT Colts, Geldings and Entires Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1200m.

No4 JOMAR'S ELEMENT Likes to lead and should do that from good barrier. Has been a model of consistency of late and has won this track.

No2 ZENDAYE Won two races at the midweeks and then hit the lead but stopped last bit when unplaced in a Saturday race this track last start. Much better placed here.

No9 MAKE A RULER Won two on end and then a fighting second behind a handy horse at Ipswich last start. Each-way here.

No7 TRUCULENT Good Ipswich winner two starts back and then run off his feet at Kilcoy last time. Better this race where he can settle.

R6 - 4.33pm. NOVOTEL BRISBANE AIRPORT Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 70 Hcp - 1200m.

No1 PRIORITISE (NEXT BEST BET) Very promising and had no luck first start back this campaign when third at the Sunshine Coast. Should have won last time and has a 2kgs claim here. Hard to beat.

No5 CONFRONTING Handy third in a strong race at Murwillumbah last time. Fitter now and always an each-way hope these races.

No4 PLAN RED Much better last time when ridden with cover and scored an impressive win at Ipswich. Should get cover again here.

No2 PATRONIZING Doesn't win many but never far away. That was the story past two when just behind the placegetters. In a race he can win.

R7 - 5.08pm. Ascot Green Class 4 Handicap - 1660m.

No5 ELSARAY (BEST BET) Won two on end before fighting third at Ipswich last start. Likes to lead and that usually suits horses when the rail is out so far at this track. Very hard to toss.

No2 BRONZED VENOM Has been racing well in stronger races and a Randwick winner in Sydney three starts back. This looks ideal.

No7 WHO'S YOUR DADDY Two starts this campaign have been solid fourth and a third at the Gold Coast. Has no weight here and a knock out hope.

No3 DIA DE REYES Hard to tip with any confidence because he has few tricks. But was a Randwick winner two starts back and no luck when unplaced this track last time.

R8 - 5.43pm. WWW.BRC.COM.AU Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1200m.

No2 CLOCKWORK ORANGE At first run from a spell had no luck in a small field when third at Ipswich. Fitter now and on best form will be hard to beat.

No1 LIPSYNC Ipswich form is very good with a win and second at past two starts in harder races than this. Looks a top chance.

No7 MAKE HER OWN WHEY Hasn't run a bad race in her last ten starts but doesn't win often. Good third at the Gold Coast last start in a harder race.

No8 SAILOR GERRI Has found form this campaign and strong second this track last start gives her a great each-way chance here.

R9 - 6.18pm. Gallopers Sports Club Class 1 Handicap - 1350m.

No10 CAPO DI TUTTI Honest without being any star. But last start when second at the Gold Coast was a very good pointer to this.

No2 MAN IN CHARGE Good fourth at the Gold Coast last time when struck trouble. Has to be a chance here on consistent previous form.

No5 CRACKACHARGE Good Ipswich winner two starts back and then struck trouble when well beaten this track last time. Give another chance.

No8 I AM IMPINGE Has started odds on at both starts since a spell and failed both times. Poor latest when midfield this track in similar race. At his best would win by 100 metres but struggling.
