The Gold Coast has the first of three Saturday metropolitan meetings it will host in the next month with 10 races. The track has had a stack of racing but is holding up well but as always be alert for storms as it can deteriorate quickly. Around this time of the year the track usually produces very fast times because the bigger fields always generate a fast early pace.

QUADDIES (races 7-8-9-10)

Skinny Play:  1,7/1,7/6/9,11

Wide Play:  1,4,5,7/1,6,7,11/1,2,6,8/1,9,11,13

BEST BET: R4 – 6. SUNLIGHT

Next Best Bet: R9 – 6. AMANAAT

Best Roughie: R1 – 6. NASHVILLE SKYLINE

R1 - 12.27pm. AQUIS FARM LADIES DAY 6 JAN QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1800m.

No2 BOOM BOOM EPIC Has been most consistent of late in a similar company to this and getting out to the right distance now. Should be in the finish again.

No1 ALL TOO HUIYING Has won his past three starts in strong fashion and this looks an ideal race. Tricky barrier draw from this start and up in weight. But still hard to beat.

No6 NASHVILLE SKYLINE (BEST ROUGHIE) Was racing well before last-start failure at Doomben over 1600m. But was pushed very deep on the home turn and run was better than it looks. Respect out to 1800m.

No3 WEEKEND SAGA Stormed home from last to win at the Sunshine Coast over 1600m last start. Very strong win gives a chance in this tougher race.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 NASHVILLE SKYLINE

R2 – 1.02pm. FREE ENTRY 30 DEC Benchmark 75 Handicap - 900m.

No13 DESIRABLE MISS Like many of the better chances here has drawn poorly. But won this track and distance last start in good time. Hard to beat but just needs luck.

No11 BRAT ATTACK Has very good form this track and forget last-start failure in Toowoomba when didn't handle the track. Winner here previously.

No8 INVINCIBLE HEART Former Victorian who has had two trials to get ready for this. On best Melbourne form would win this but has a bad barrier.

No9 WIGGLESWORTH Recent form isn't flash but has plenty of pace and is well drawn. Has won this track and better than recent starts indicate.

VALUE RUNNER: No11 BRAT ATTACK

R3 - 1.37pm. AQUIS FARM LADIES DAY QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 900m.

No6 KATY'S DAUGHTER Had no luck at all at first start when second in a Doomben 2yo race. Ran home strongly but with better luck can be closer to the pace this smaller field.

No5 HOLDIN' MY OWN Pig rooted at first start when last as an odds on pop but showed true form with good win this track and distance last time. Has a 3kgs claim here and hard to beat.

No3 PAQUIRRI Trialled well before green at only start when third in a strong race in Newcastle. Has pacifiers here which might help.

No2 AWESOME MO At only start showed a lot of pace before fainting to run fourth in a good race at Toowoomba. Has a lot of early pace which suits here.

VALUE RUNNER: No5 HOLDIN' MY OWN

R4 - 2.12pm. EARLY BIRD GA MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 900m.

No6 SUNLIGHT (BEST BET) Placed in a stakes race at Flemington at its only race start and has won a trial this track beating Outback Barbie who won at Doomben on Saturday. Very hard to beat here.

No1 KING OF THE NORTH Strong Sunshine Coast winner at first start and then hit the lead in the straight but very green when third at Doomben last time. Chance here.

No10 YAMAZAKI Well-bred first starter who trialled well winning at Doomben on December 12. Not the worst here on trial win.

No7 LADY MCCABE Green at only start when second this track and distance before a spell. Has to be a hope here.

VALUE RUNNER: No1 KING OF THE NORTH

R5 - 2.52pm. UBET CALCUTTA DINNER Class 3 Plate - 1200m.

No11 PRUE'S ANGEL This is very tough, but good winner first-up at Ipswich and then in wrong part of the track when second at Ipswich last time. This looks a good race for her.

No5 ROCK ON DESTINY has had a few problems but has always shown ability. Too good at Ipswich last start with solid win. Each-way again here.

No3 PLAN RED Scratched from an easier race on Wednesday to run here. Good Ipswich winner last start when ridden with cover. Chance again here.

No1 DOMINANT CROWN Winner at Armidale and Grafton past two starts and has drawn barrier one here. Looks a great each-way hope this harder race.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 PLAN RED

R6 - 3.32pm. MAGIC MILLIONS 13 JAN QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1200m.

No2 WINTER BRIDE Has only finished worse than second twice in nine starts. Good winner two runs back at Doomben and since an unlucky second that track in a Listed race. Looks the one to beat.

No6 FEMME FIREBALL Won her past two starts in far easier races but is promising. Well drawn and has a light weight.

No5 ROCK ‘N’ SUMMER Trialled very well before good first-up win and then well beaten at Doomben next start. Has had a solid trial to get ready for this.

No3 ARRESTAR Can be hard to catch and resuming from a break here. Not asked to do much when fourth in a recent trial and does have a first-up win to his credit.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 ARRESTAR

R7 - 4.12pm. CHINESE NEW YEAR 17 FEB No More Than Two Metro Wins This Year Handicap - 1800m.

No7 AQUA VITE There are few more consistent horses and scored a deserved metropolitan win at Doomben last start. Likes this track and any rain won't harm chances.

No1 FELTRE Has been placed in a magic Millions Cup so has class on his side. Recent form is in far harder races but getting out to the right distance now.

No4 BLACKJACK BELLA Three runs since a spell have been just okay but she has good form this track and distance and this looks the race for her to get back into the winners circle.

No5 SHEZA LILY Goes very well this track and distance with three wins and a third from four goes. Made up a lot of ground last start when third at Doomben in a harder race.

VALUE RUNNER: No1 FELTRE

R8 - 4.47pm. LADIES DAY FIESTA EVENT CENTRE Benchmark 75 Handicap - 2200m.

No1 THE RUMOUR FILE Has been very consistent with a win and two seconds his past three starts at Doomben. Has to be hard to beat on latest second in a far harder race but only worry is his racing style of getting back around this track.

No6 KIRINI Honest stayer who won at Doomben two runs back and the got lost in the run when second at latest run behind a smart stayer. Each-way again.

No7 SON OF A BRUT Showed staying potential with strong last start Doomben win in easier company. If has any early luck can be in the finish here.

No11 SHE GOES POP Has always appealed as a likely stayer and is a winner at only try this distance. Has been fair last couple but she should relish the step out to 2200m.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 SON OF A BRUT

R9 - 5.27pm. BOOK TICKETS @ GCTC.COM.AU Benchmark 90 Handicap - 1200m.

No6 AMANAAT (NEXT BEST BET) Has won five races in a row and down in weight here for going up in class. Does look very hard to beat from the inside barrier.

No2 HI I'M BACK Has been racing well in far harder races of late and was just behind the placegetters in two stakes races of late. This far easier and has 3kgs claim.

No1 UPSTART PRIDE The best performed horse in the race and has won this track and distance in very fast time. Has a 3kgs claim here and two runs back was second in stakes class. Only worry is he can be a handful on some days and you never know what you will get.

No8 OINK Has raced well in stakes company and resuming here with a solid trial under his belt. If there is a knock out horse it is probably him.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 OINK

R10 - 5.58pm. SEAFOOD BUFFET GALLERY RESTAURANT Benchmark 80 Handicap - 1400m.

No11 MANAYA Quality mare who should have won more races except for some bad luck. Latest fought on well for second behind an in form horse. The one to beat.

No9 RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR Poor old Ringo hasn't had any luck in five starts this campaign. Has been just behind the palcegetters past three and deserves better luck here this track where he has won.

No13 MAGNUFIGHTER Scored two strong city class wins and then not disgraced last start when third in a good quality three-year-old.

No1 DANCE OF HEROES Terrible last start but has had a freshen up and has run well in much better races than this on occasions.

VALUE RUNNER: No13 MAGNUFIGHTER
