Newcastle (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Newcastle. Today’s best bet is in race 1

Fri, 22 Dec, 12:00 AM

Newcastle for our provincial meeting here in the Sydney area for Xmas eve eve. We are also racing here again on boxing day, so a few big days coming up for the track. We have 7 races on the card here, in what looks a solid enough meeting with all the meetings we have on. The rail is out 10m and the track is rated good.

QUADDIES (races 4-5-6-7)

Skinny Play:  7  -  1,2  -  4,8,9  -  1,5,11

Wide Play: 4,7,9  -  1,2,6  -  4,6,8,9  -  1,5,8,11

Next Best Bet: R4 – 7. NOBODY’S PUPPET

Best Roughie: R7 – 1. CRAFTY TYCOON

R1 – 2.14pm. DJ Brooke Evers @ Boxing Day Races Benchmark 65 Handicap - 2360m.

No4 LADY MONTOYA (BEST BET) has been brilliant at winning her past two and gives no indication that she is going to lose her form here. The 2360m isn’t going to be an issue at all, she gets a good run just behind the speed here and should be too good.

No2 AURORA ROSE looks the likely leader here and should run them along, if she gets an easy time of it she will be hard to catch.

No1 BELLA GALEANO gets a soft run of it here from barrier 1. She ran well enough last start to run well again here.

No3 PRAISE SONGS comes out of the same form line as Lady Montoya and has a chance again.

R2 – 2.49pm. Cobond Maiden Handicap - 1600m.

No1 KORMA was solid enough first-up and hit the line very well, the step up to 1600m looks quite good and he is hard to beat.

No2 STARVINO was very good on debut and was run down late there. The step up to 1600m here looks more than ideal now.

No3 PIERINO has been good enough in both runs and has been hitting the line well enough coming into this and should run well.

No4 GREENSPAN comes out of a good race last start and is next best.

R3 – 3.24pm. Hit 106.9 Boxing Day Races Class 2 Handicap - 1600m.

No5 CALIFORNIA TURBO was a good winner on debut and looked to run right through the line there. 1600m will be no issue and he gets a great run on the map.

No1 MR TICKETS has a bit of “cat” in him and doesn’t seem to have the will to win. He is a winner over 1600m and I’m giving him another chance.

No2 SPRING CREEK STAR has been in good form without winning as of late. He gets a good run from gate 2.

No7 REGINE gets a good jockey change here. The form that she brings is solid enough for a race like this.

R4 – 4.04pm. Australia Wide Roofing 3yo Maiden Plate - 900m.

No7 NOBODY’S PUPPET (NEXT BEST BET) has been trialing up very well coming into the debut run, Bjorn looks to have placed her quite well here to get his career off to a flyer. 900m shouldn’t be a worry at all, as she can tag the speed and run away from them late.

No9 ZEGOTA turned it around last-start with a good run, she stays at the 900m and should run well again.

No4 IBANEZ has been threatening to break through for a long while now, and looks to get a better run of it here.

No8 ON THE NOD has been improving trial to trial coming into the debut run and she should run well here.

R5 – 4.44pm. Coca Cola Class 2 Handicap - 900m.

No2 PUPPET MASTER won brilliantly and in super-fast time second up at the T&D she gets the blinkers on here and looks super hard to beat here.

No1 ALL CARISMA has been going well enough as of late, and now drops back in grade here and should run well.

No6 OZIROSE won in very fast time at Gunnedah. Back to the 900m shouldn’t be an issue at all.

No4 THORN IN MY SIDE gets a good run on the map here from barrier 1. First-up record average, but this isn’t the best race.

R6 – 5.24pm. Iron Jack Maiden Plate - 1200m.

No8 THRILLED gets one last chance here, the form around has stacked up quite well. This isn’t the strongest race.

No4 PSITTACINE is a stoutly bred colt and has been trialing up well enough coming into this.

No9 VINEYARD has improved trial to trial coming into this, I liked the last trial over 1050m where he moved through the line well.

No6 SPIRIT OF ELIJAH has been trialing well coming into the debut run and should run well here.

R7 – 6.00pm. Tyrrell’s Wines Benchmark 60 Handicap - 1200m.

No1 CRAFTY TYCOON (BEST ROUGHIE) has been trialing well enough coming into the fresh run here, yes he has a big weight and draws a sticky gate. But he is the best horse here.

No11 GRAND THEFT AUTO won the maiden in good order at Nowra, the step up to 1400m here looks ideal and she has her chance.

No5 CASH STRAPPED steps up in trip quickly here, he gets a soft run on the map here and looks hard to hold out.

No8 ROYAL CASINO has been running as if he has needed this trip here. He gets a good run on the map here.
