Warwick Farm for a rare Saturday meeting here in Sydney. We have 9 races on the card here with some smaller fields here, with a fair few city meetings over the next week or so. The weather in Sydney has been nothing but brilliant this week. Rail is in the true position and the track is good.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 1 - 3,8 - 2,4,7,10 - 3
Wide Play: 1,4,7,8 - 1,3,5,8 - 2,4,5,7,10 - 3,7,10
BEST BET: R2 – 3. SCREAM PARK
Next Best Bet: R6 – 1. TEST THE WORLD
Best Roughie: R8 – 10. MAGICAL STANCE
No5 CONDEMNED has been trialing quite well leading into the debut run here and looks to be quite a nice colt on the way through. The worry I have here is that he has only had the two 740m trials coming into 1200m on debut which is quite tough to do for a 2yo.
No3 SOKUDO comes out of the Breeders Plate on debut, which is one of the hottest 2yo races this season and wasn’t too bad there despite being beaten six lengths. He has had the one trial coming into this where he looked to move well, the race experience will help.
No8 FUTOOH wasn’t too bad in the 900m trial behind Sweet Ava (who won last week) and looked to go through the motions well. I would assume she has had a few jump outs at Euroa in the lead up to the debut run. The booking of Avdulla intrigues me here.
No2 CHARGE was very good on debut and ran right through the line behind Gongs and the step up to 1200m looks ideal. He is also in the Magic Millions on Thursday, not sure where he runs yet.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 FUTOOH
No3 SCREAM PARK (BEST BET) is a horse on the way up, and he is the one I want to be with here, despite only winning a maiden last start. The form out of his run two starts back has already held up with Seaway winning again since. The 1600m is only going to suit him more so, if he wins this he may well go to a race like the Karaka Mile as he was bought at that sale, if he was to go there he needs to win this, I think he will.
No1 SPARKY LAD turned it around last start, with a good win over Heliosphere. Not too sure about the step to the 1600m, but the small field, and slow tempo should allow him to run it out.
No2 BULL MARKET won well last start and the step up to the 1600m looks to be ideal here. He ran right through the line there and gets a good run just behind the speed here for TC, who is riding well.
No4 COLESBERG hasn’t really done a lot since winning this time last year, 1600m looks suitable. A benefit for him is he is a winner here.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 BULL MARKET
No6 BASTIA should be suited by the step up to 1600m, which is only an extra 100m but should prove the difference here. He just missed when attempting to run down King Darci last time at Rosehill. His first-up win was nothing short of awesome and he looks to have come back better and should go close again.
No1 KING DARCI was the winner of that race last start, but does go up the 3kgs here. He had been working well towards that win, and now that he has found his form he should hold it. He has a very good record at Warwick Farm and the mile shouldn’t be an issue.
No2 CAERLESS CHOICE was a big winner of the Muswellbrook Cup coming from absolutely nowhere to win that race. That win showed that the mile would be no issue at all. My worry for him, is that he has no “City” credentials to his name and all of his wins have come in the country.
No4 CELLARMAN has been in brilliant form this time in winning two of his last four races, and placing at the other two. He comes out of the same race behind Bastia and King Darci last start and ran well there. Getting back up to the mile is much more suitable here.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 CELLARMAN
No2 MATE STORY should be well suited coming back to country level after three good runs this preparation in good city races. He has drawn well here and gets a good run on the map, as he looks the likely leader in the race. He is a winner over the mile in the past and is hard to beat.
No7 ISLA TRISTANA was a huge run last start running right through the line against the bias at Doomben. She now finds a highway and Angland which is Dunn’s usual go to. She is yet to win over the mile, but the way she ran through the line last start indicated it wouldn’t be an issue.
No3 VOLPE probably didn’t cope with the seven day back up last start, after winning a highway previous to that. The two weeks between runs here will suit him much better. JVO stays aboard here and claims right down in the weights here. The mile won’t be an issue.
No5 O’LORDY should be much suited coming up to the mile here after staying at the 1200m / 1300m range at the past few. She is placed behind Zamex over the 1500m in a highway before so the mile won’t be an issue. She gets a great run on the map here.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 MATE STORY
No5 MORNINGTON finds himself on top here, due to the booking of Shinn and that he looks to get a dream run on the map. He should be able to settle just in behind the speed, and I think the way Warwick Farm is laid out will help him as shin can build him up from the 800 with that long run into the final turn.
No4 LEAD CHOREOGRAPHER just missed last start when sitting up on speed, I feel as if he will do the same here just behind Great Glen who is the likely leader, if he is able to kick off the turn he may well be able to hold them off.
No1 CARZOFF claims down here, and I like Magorrian on for McDougall who has been riding fantastically as of late. From barrier 1 he won’t have to do any work in the run. After the two runs at the 2000m he should be ready to peak.
No3 GREAT GLEN is the leader here, and was quite good last start when getting run down late by Imperial Aviator. I think that will prove to be a good form race, the drop back of 300m wont be an issue at all.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 CARZOFF
No1 TEST THE WORLD (NEXT BEST BET) should just be too good for this lot, now that she has found her fitness and given the way she ran away from them last start in what was a tough effort. Gate 1 won’t be an issue for her, like it is for some other horses as she is a winner at the T&D from the barrier in the past. She has black type written all over her and should be too good.
No8 SIR BARB will sit off and have the last crack at them. Cunningham did a brilliant job with him in his first prep with her. The trial leading in was very good.
No7 BRATISLAVA drops well in weight here after a good win at Canterbury last start. He gets a soft run, in behind the speed yet again and should be charging late.
No4 EUSEBIO resumes here off a good break, last time in she showed that she had black type quality. The trials leading in have been good.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 SIR BARB
No3 GOLD SYMPHONY has had a solid trial leading into the first-up run here and looks to have come back in very good order. His first-up record is quite poor, but I am looking past it, as with Snowden he has become a better horse.
No8 MORTON’S FORK has trialled well between runs, and comes out of a good race last start that has already held up well enough since then. He has always had good ability, but has never gone to that next level. Taking the punt that he can show it here.
No5 INVINZABEEL has been fantastic winning the last two in good order, no reason to knock the winning form at all. He beat Morton’s Fork last start, and shouldn’t go backwards now that he has found the winning groove.
No1 SUPPLY AND DEMAND comes up as an early favorite here, but has gone to Perth and back since the last run. That’s a lot of travel and he comes back in distance too. He did SP $10 in the Group 1 so we need to respect that.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 INVIZABEEL
No7 PIPELINE was run down late last start and looks set to peak third-up from a spell here. With the visors on he will be able to see the horses coming at him, which will help him give that extra kick he needs. From the gate he looks the leader.
No10 MAGICAL STANCE (BEST ROUGHIE) should improve second-up from a spell after an ok enough run first up. His claim down in the weights here suits him quite well. The blinkers on the first time here show intent, and that he may well be ready to go here.
No4 MAN OF CHOICE was good enough first-up back in his original stable. Getting down to the 54kgs after the claim here for JVO is more than suitable and he should run well at the 1400m second-up.
No2 BETTER NOT BLUE has a good second-up record and gets a good run on the map here, as well as a good jockey change with King going on board. He hasn’t won in a long while, but is a winner at this track in the past.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 MAGICAL STANCE
No3 NOIRE has been nothing short of fantastic in her two wins this time in, and doing them quite easily. Third-up staying at the 1400m is perfect for her here, as she gets a perfect run on the map here behind the speed. Shinn pushes off around the turn, she wins simple.
No10 QUEEN MISTY was good enough second-up running through the line behind Noire, who she meets better at the weights. No shock to see Clark push forward from the wide gate here and take the race by the scruff of the neck.
No7 MISS BALLANTINE comes out of that same race last start and ran really well through the line there. She gets a perfect run behind the speed again here, and will be running right through the line.
No6 PECANS has been brilliant since joining the new stable winning the last two in very good order. She goes down 2.5kgs but steps up in grade here. At her home track she will run well.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 QUEEN MISTY
