Back to Doomben for a midweek meeting this time. At least it gets another rest this Saturday. The false rail is out 8.5 metres but there are some handy fields. As always at this time of the year be alert for storms so watch the weather closely.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play: 7 / 1,8 / 5,7/ 6,8

Wide Play: 1,2,7,8 / 1,8,10,11 / 1,5,7,10 / 2,6,8,10

BEST BET: R5 – 7. BELLA OCCHI

Next Best Bet: R3 – 4. DOOM

Best Roughie: R8 – 8. TWO SHOES

R1 - 12.43pm. WWW.BRC.COM.AU Maiden Handicap - 1650m.

No6 GRAND WHISPER Has been getting back in his races from wide barriers and rattling home late. Was third this track over 1350m last time and 1600m suits much better. Again drawn poorly which is a worry.

No7 PIXIE HOLLOW Battling away in her races and not a bad third at Ipswich last start. Fit and looks an each-way chance here.

No3 INDIAN ROCKS Much better run last start when second in a handy maiden at the Gold Coast over 1400m. The 1600m should suit very well here.

No10 MADAM MAHAL Placed twice at Ipswich and then didn't have much luck when fifth at the Gold Coast last start. This race and distance suits.

VALUE RUNNER: No1 MADAM MAHAL

R2 - 1.18pm. HAMILTON HOTEL QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate - 1350m.

No3 LI'L RODGE Only start was a very good second at Ipswich on a very heavy track. Better suited in the dry and will be a lot fitter for this.

No5 SMARTY JACK Hasn't run a place in three runs since winning a trial nicely. But has not been far away and looks a nice race for him.

No2 KURUMBA Trial was only fair but handy run wen third first-up at the Sunshine Coast. Has been placed this track and one of the hopes.

No6 ANOTHER DOLLAR A first starter from a top stable who has had five trials to get ready for this. We did like his last effort so keep very safe.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 ANOTHER DOLLAR

R3 - 1.53pm. GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB Maiden Handicap - 1200m.

No4 DOOM (NEXT BEST BET) Has run second at his past three starts. Latest lost touch with the leaders in the middle stages before running home strongly. Gets his chance to win here in a weak maiden.

No6 THE SOCIALIST Started odds on at his first start and had no luck when second to a horse which has raced well since. Looks one of the main hopes in this.

No2 CASH IS BLACK First starter who has had five trials being placed in four. We liked his last trial and he might be ready to run a bold race here.

No1 PREFERITO First start this area but has been placed four times in NSW country and provincial area. Stable has a great strike arte with southern cast offs and has been placed twice fresh.

VALUE RUNNER: No2 CASH IS BLACK

R4 - 2.28pm. ASCOT GREEN Benchmark 80 Handicap - 1200m.

No2 BOOMWAA Looked unlucky when second this track in a far harder race last start. Should lead or be on the pace here and prove hard to run down.

No3 RARE OCCURRENCE Recent form has been only fair but that has been in far races on Saturdays. Down markedly in class here and loves this track. Has to be a chance on old form.

*SCRATCHED* No8 MAKE A RULER Has been most consistent of late in easier races but good winner here last start when fought on well. Each-way claims with a light weight here.

No4 BEAUDRAGON Very strong at the finish when a winner this track at last start. This harder but has the inside barrier and has an apprentice's claim. Strong hopes here again.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 MAKE A RULER

R5 - 3.03pm. GIRLS DAY OUT RACEDAY Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1050m.

No7 BELLA OCCHI (BEST BET) Unbeaten in three starts on all types of tracks. Far too good on a heavy track at Ipswich last time and scratched from the Gold Coast on Saturday to run here. Looks too good for these.

No8 BASARA Resuming here but showed potential last time with very good Doomben win and then unplaced in a high class three-year-old race at the Gold Coast. Can win here with luck.

No2 GOOD TO BE GREAT Battled on well last time when second at Ipswich. This is harder but ran third in a similar race to this back in July. A repeat would see him in the finish.

*SCRATCHED* No1 WIGGLESWORTH Recent form is nothing flash but not that far away in a Saturday race at the Gold Coast last start. Has run the occasional good race this track and distance and this looks to suit at big odds.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 BASARA

R6 - 3.38pm. RELAXED RACING Class 4 Handicap - 1650m.

No10 BENFICA PRINCESS Has a few tracks and really needs a track like Eagle Farm to do her best but that could be as much as a year away. Handy fifth at the Sunshine Coast last start and provided the pace is on here as it should be she will be charging home.

No8 WHO'S YOUR DADDY Has run placings at big odds for us at his past couple of starts and can do it again here especially if left alone in front. Looks well placed with an apprentice’s allowance.

No1 KUBIS Very good at the finish when a last-start winner at the Sunshine Coast. Like many in this field probably wants a bigger track but looks a good hope here.

*SCRATCHED* No11 MADAM SHAZAM Ran home very well last start when second at Ipswich. Starting to get back to best form and an each-way hope.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 WHO'S YOUR DADDY

R7 - 4.13pm. WEDDINGS AT BRC Class 2 Plate - 1200m.

No7 SCALLOPINI Injured early in his career but making up for it with very strong wins at both starts since a spell. Looks a horse of the future and suited this race.

No1 DEEP IMAGE Promising horse who has drawn a bad barrier yet again. Handy fourth first-up this track and has trialled well since. At best would win this but will need luck from the barrier.

No5 MR BELLAGIO Handy effort first-up behind a promising horse and didn't have a lot of luck. Rarely runs a bad race and will be among the finish again here.

*SCRATCHED* No10 JADENTOM Has missed a place only once in five starts and run down on the line when second at Toowoomba last time. One of the better hopes in this.

VALUE RUNNER: No10 JADENTOM

R8 - 4.50pm. SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL Class 3 Handicap - 1350m.

No6 MONACO PLAYBOY Has been racing most consistently of late and probably should have on last start when second at the Gold Coast. One of the main chances again.

No2 CHIEF JOSEPH At his best is a very good horse and handy effort at first run from a spell when fifth at Toowoomba. Can finish very quickly when the pace is on early in his races.

No8 TWO SHOES (BEST ROUGHIE) Has never lived up to her potential when she looked like being top class. But an improved effort when third last start and there is plenty of early pace in this race which will suit her.

No10 FUTURE EVENT Better known over more ground but can put in the occasional good run fresh. Another who will be suited by what appears likely to be a solid early pace here.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 TWO SHOES
