Cranbourne (Friday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Cranbourne today’s best bet is in race 7.

Wed, 10 Jan, 9:53 AM

Racing is back here again for another Friday night but this time the weather is much kinder with cooler conditions to prevail tonight after last weekend’s swelter.

The false rail has been moved to three-metres from the 1000m to the winning post and will be at the true position for the remainder of the track. The track is rated perfectly as a Good 4 and the night will be overcast but fine. Not a great meeting for depth of quality with three fillies and mares’ races and five maidens on the nine race card. Good luck!

R1 – 5.55pm. Maiden Plate – 1600m.

No1 TRAFFIC COP was runner up at Kyneton two starts ago before striking a bog when finishing fourth over 1400m maiden here on December 29. Looks close to breaking the ice and has drawn in two, so should get a soft run.

No2 EMPIRE LIBERTY ran a good second over 1200m here two starts ago. Last start ran a close seventh over 1400m maiden here on January 5. Is on the week-to-week back up but if repeats the run is a chance.

No8 MARVELOUS MIRREN showed enough when finishing sixth in a 1300m maiden for fillies at Geelong on December 26 to warrant here. Has top jockey Linda Meech as her new rider and keep safe.

No5 DEVILISH DIVA the distance should suit on past effort it just depends on her fitness level. She is resuming here from a 10 weeks spell but did run a good fourth over 1523m at Moonee Valley last start on November 3.

R2 – 6.30pm. TAB Multiplier 3YO Maiden Plate – 1000m.

No15 BRANKSOME CHIMES was a heavily backed $2.15 favourite at debut but struck a quagmire and finished last of nine over 1100m maiden at Wodonga on August 14. Forget the run and have fresh eyes on her today.

No9 SOUTH ARBOR has been placed at two starts so far. Last start ran a good third over 1003m maiden at Yarra Valley on October 28. Resumes here from a 10-week break and is having only third start. Would respect.

No6 EXPLICITLY plummets in class on last-start seventh in the Listed Queen Of Adelaide Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville on May 6. She was first-up that day after winning a trial and being placed second at two other trials. Looks a good chance.

No12 TOTALLY KAPTIVATED forget the last start when underwent a veterinary inspection following her shock last of eight over 1017m in a maiden at Moe on September 15. Struck a rain affected track that day and looks better suited on firm ground.

R3 – 7.00pm. Procon Developments F&M Maiden Plate – 1200m.

No8 AMASTRYKER was plunged into a red hot $2 favourite when running a close second over 1200m F&M maiden at Cranbourne on December 22. She went down narrowly and she strikes similar opposition here.

No11 SWEET SATIN showed good speed to lead and fought on okay when finishing fifth over 1200m F&M maiden here on December 22. She is back against similar opposition and should get a soft passage from seven.

No9 GOEGAN’S HERO is a well-bred filly from the leading stable of Team Hayes. She resumes here from a long spell and would ignore her last start when badly held up over 1400m at Geelong back in July.

No6 RUBYANNA JANE has been placed at her past two starts and only raced three times. Latest she ran a good second over 1100m maiden against F&M at Seymour on December 21. Gets senior rider Jake Noonan today.

R4 – 7.30pm. Core Protection Group F&M Maiden Plate – 1200m

No9 QUICK VERSE was backed into a $1.95 favourite at her debut three starts ago. She is resuming today from a close fourth over 1400m at Geelong on July 14. She is back down in maiden company here and has Linda Meech.

No8 MORE GRACEFUL is a nicely bred three-year-old filly who is bound to have taken benefit from her debut fifth over 1200m F&M maiden at Yarra Valley on December 28. She hails from an astute stable and has Luke Nolen to steer.

No10 REAL COCO is a former Queensland galloper who ran a solid third at her debut over 1200m 2yo maiden at the Gold Coast on July 30. Has changed stables and would expect her to show her colours prominently.

No2 I AM WILDWOOD gets a critical gear change with a tongue tie going on and also gets top rider Brad Rawiller as new pillion. Forget last start when a well beaten fourth over 1000m maiden here on November 8.

R5 – 8.00pm. Maiden Plate – 1400m.

No1 BONFIRE GOLD makes strong appeal on debut effort when fought on well to finish third over 1200m maiden at Seymour on December 21. Gets top jockey Luke Nolen and has drawn perfectly in gate five.

No11 LADY DE BATHE has the blinkers coming off and the winkers going back on today. Latest she ran a close fourth in a 1400m maiden at Werribee on December 24. Makes appeal with Michael Dee to ride here.

No10 FONTEIN ALI underlined she was on the march forward with a good second over 1200m maiden at Yarra Valley on December 22. She has a wide gate to overcome in 12, but looms as one of the better hopes.

No9 SHINSEKI Looms with claim in a shocking race with the blinkers going on for the first timer tonight. Latest ran a steady sixth over 1400m maiden here on December 22. Gets top apprentice Ben Allen to ride and drawn three.

R6 – 8.30pm. BM78 Handicap – 3000m.

No1 CASTA (NEXT BEST BET) looks one of the better bets on an ordinary night for class. With ace jockey Dwayne Dunn to ride and if repeats last-start fourth over 2400m at Caulfield here carrying 58kg and with the inside ally on the rail should be hard to beat. Has won over 2200m and is now primed for this journey with the run over 2400m under his belt.

No8 CHARLIE ROAD struck a bog track when a narrowly beaten favourite here last time out.

No5 KASTOR won over 1950m at Yarra Valley five starts ago and is rock solid for this trip tonight.

No4 SHAMPION was a surprise winner over 3026m at Warrnambool last start on December 31.

R7 – 9.00pm. NZB Karaka2018 BM64 Handicap – 2025m.

No10 CONSIDERING (BEST BET) has been in sparkling form and with apprentice Stephanie Thornton’s 1.5kg claim will carry 56.5kg. Comes here off a smart win over 2025m here on December 29. Carried 55.5kg that time and Ben Allen rode. Thornton is riding in great fashion and from barrier eight should cross nicely and be a strong chance.

No5 PENTHOUSE POET broke the ice in devastating style with a polished 10 length win in a 1600m maiden here on December 29.

No2 STARTIERRA won over this distance at Kyneton two starts ago. Ran a strong second last start here.

No3 BIG PAT’S PONTIAC was a flawless winner over 1850m at Kyneton last start and looks to have claims.

R8 – 9.30pm. F&M BM64 Handicap – 1000m.

No5 STRAVIERA looked imposing when racing away to a convincing win over 1000m at Bairnsdale on December 29. Was a heavily backed $2.20 favourite that day and only goes up a kilo to 57.5kg with the 1.5kg claim.

No8 INVINCIBLE AMICI was an impressive debut winner in a maiden over 1000m before finishing a steady fourth on a bog track over 1000m here back in late August. Trainer Darren Weir will have the polish on first-up.

No2 FOR A SONG drops down to country class on last-start third over 1000m against F&M at Sandown on December 20. The 2kg claim of the apprentice drops her weight to a comfortable 58kg.

No3 SAVVY SHIELDS (BEST ROUGHIE) spread-eagled the opposition to score an emphatic 2 length win over 1100m against F&M at Stony Creek on December 30. Faces stronger opposition today but gets the 1.5kg claim to reduce her impost to 58kg.

R9 – 10pm. NZB Karaka2018 BM64 Handicap – 1300m

No10 SIRIUS BLACK kicked off his career with a hard fought win over 1100m maiden at Tatura on December 10 before elevated to Caulfield where ran a sound eighth over 1100m on December 26. Better suited here.

No7 PETE’S DRAGON won over 1200m here two starts ago. Last start ran a rock solid third over 1200m at Sandown on January 3. Gets ace jockey Michael Dee replacing and apprentice tonight and goes up a kilo to 58.5kg.

No8 VIN FIZ forgive last start when was bogged down on a heavy track finishing eighth over 1200m here on December 29. Previous form was most honest with a win over 1200m at Mornington four starts ago.

No12 CHALCIDIAN found the winner too good when running a steady second over 1200m at Mornington on December 13. The three-year-old filly has been freshened up for this assignment and respect.
