Gold Coast (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Gold Coast. Today’s best bet is in race 1.

Thu, 18 Jan, 12:52 PM

Back to a usual Saturday at the Gold Coast with big field sizes and value chances in most races. The track has been playing lightning fast and there has been little rain. But as we say every week at this time of the year be alert for storms as the track can deteriorate quickly.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8-)

Skinny Play:  3,9/3,11/2,8/3,5

Wide Play:  3, 9,14, 16/3,4,5,11/1,2,4,8/1,3,5,11

Next Best Bet: R3 – 4. DESIRABLE MISS

Best Roughie: R4 – 6. LADY NO MORE

R1 - 12.43pm. BRISBANE ISUZU QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Plate - 900m.

No5 MISS BANG (BEST BET) This is a tricky race because no runner has had a race start. But Miss Bang was very impressive in a Doomben trial recently and that should be too good for this lot.

No2 COSSIE First starter who won a trial at the Gold Coast in nice fashion. On home track here.

No6 PLUMARO First starter by boom sire Spirit of Boom who has not trialled publically. Bred to go fast.

No9 WOLF ALICE First starter who has had two trials running second both times. Not the worst here by a long way.

R2 - 1.18pm. SNIPPETS MEMORIAL Ratings Band 0 - 60 Handicap - 900m.

No4 KEEN INSTINCT Has better form than most of these and last-start fifth to a smart horse in a far harder Doomben race. Has raced well this track on previous occasions.

No6 NOOR DROPPER Bush horse who mixes its form. But this is the type of race it could bob up in at odds.

No3 AIMALAC BOBBY Good second last start this track and distance gives him a strong hope here.

No2 ROCKY NUGGET Fast horse who was racing well at the provincial tracks before failing in a far tougher race last time. Very fast.

R3 - 1.53pm. COLE DIESEL MEMORIAL Class 4 Handicap - 1200m.

No4 DESIRABLE MISS (NEXT BEST BET) Rarely far away in these type of races and has a good record this track. Last-start second at Doomben to a promising horse makes her hard to beat.

No1 VIADUCTRESS Strong winner this rack two starts back and then had no luck at all when well beaten at Doomben. This suits better.

No3 GO THE GANTRY Prolific placegetter who has not been further back than fourth at past six starts. Has only two wins and that about sums him up.

No5 SUGAR RAY RED Recent form in harder races is just fair but this small field will suit him very well.

R4 - 2.28pm. ROUGH HABIT MEMORIAL Class 3 Handicap - 1800m.

No1 GREY STEYNE Won two on end when overcoming trouble both times before last-start third in a similar race here. Has a claim and hard to beat.

No4 SORNJA Has been strong at the finish in most of his races at shorter trips of late. This distance should suit now and this easier than last-start Doomben fourth.

No6 LADY NO MORE (BEST ROUGHIE) Has never lived up to early promise due to a few problems. But racing solidly and chance here on last-start third at Ipswich.

No7 SHARP SPEEDO Has had a lot of chances but never has much luck. Good last-start second over 1600m at Doomben was a good pointer for this.

R5 - 3.08pm. DON ALROE MEMORIAL Maiden Plate - 1400m.

No9 MISS SEVERINA This is a nightmare race to tip in or bet. But it is the first leg of the quaddie and Miss Severina is one of the few with solid race form. She has had two trials to get ready for this.

No3 SONIC QUILL Has finished midfield at both race starts. But fitter now and well-drawn in a big field.

No10 SIGNORIA Placed past two starts at Ipswich and back on her home track here. One of the main hopes.

No14 RIVAL MO Placed Ballina two runs back and last start at Ipswich was solid.

R6 - 3.48pm. IAN COLLINS MEMORIAL Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1400m.

No3 WACK’EM Has always shown ability and good fourth last start this track at second run back from a spell indicates is ready to race well here.

No11 AWAKE THE STARS Good winner this track back in October and no luck when fourth only run since. Go well fresh here.

No4 TYCOON FLUTTER Placed both runs from a spell at the Sunshine Coast and looks one of the main hopes here.

No5 BEAUDACIOUS Winner this track three runs back and not bad in two runs since in harder races.

R7 - 4.28pm. WAYNE WILSON MEMORIAL Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap - 1300m.

No4 DIXYVILLE This is a hard race but at second race start was a strong maiden winner this track. Drawn to get the run of the race.

No1 ARGIE BARGIE Had a few tries before breaking through for a Ballina maiden win. Might be ready to go on with it now.

No2 FLYING MACHINE Looked winner at the 200m but peaked when fourth this track last start. Good Ballina winner previously.

No8 GO DAISY Winner this track back in August and a nice run first-up. Has some handy form in better races than this.

R8 - 5.03pm. SHOGUN LODGE MEMORIAL Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap - 1300m.

No5 CAPTAIN THE WORLD Has run second at Ipswich and this track at past two starts. Getting near a win.

No1 LOVE YA MRS Good Doomben maiden winner at first start and then got a long way back when fourth this track last start. Chance here to atone.

No3 EVERY SINGLE ONE Had strong form last campaign and good second in a trail recently to get ready for this. The barrier is the only worry.

No11 IN KOBE Has had a stable change and hasn't run since August. But had some handy form last time and has been placed first-up previously.
