Adelaide’s top rider Jamie Kah riding here for Team Hayes is the highlight of tonight’s provincial night meeting at Pakenham.

With hot days forecast for Melbourne punters will be happy to sneak off to Pakenham where the mercury will peak at 32C and drops to a balmy 18C at night.

It is going to be another sweltering Australia Day long weekend for punters in Victoria with the temperatures to rise into the high 30s. Tonight’s eight race card kicks off with the usual four maidens but there appears a good bet in Spirit Of Aquada (Race 3). The feature race looks to hold a good bet too in Barchetta (Race 7). The false rail will be moved to the three-metre position and the track is rated as a Good 4.

No6 LADY DE BATHE chased out wide in search of firmer ground when finishing a sound sixth over 1400m at Cranbourne on a heavy 8 on January 10. Expected to be firmer going here and gets Adelaide’s top rider Jamie Kah.

No4 STEP ON IT has finished inside the money at three of his past five starts. Latest he ran a solid sixth over 1600m maiden at Sandown on January 10. He was checked at the 1000m but did a tradesmanlike job and respect here.

No5 ZANAHARY has given good efforts to finish no worse than fourth at his past four starts. Latest he ran a solid fourth over 1600m in a maiden at Sandown on January 10. Luke Nolen replaces Damien Oliver and gets his chance here.

No7 LETSAHOPE will sport a tongue tie following a sound debut where she ran a solid third over 1400m maiden at Warrnambool on December 31. She was a big drifter from $31 to $81 but defied her quote with a brave effort.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 LETSAHOPE

R2 – 6.30pm. Gembrook-Cockatoo FNC 3YO Maiden Plate – 1600m.

No8 JOIE DE DREAM has been placed at all three of her starts and gets top Adelaide rider Jamie Kah to partner for the first time. She ran a close third over 1500m maiden at Cranbourne on January 5. She fought hard that time.

No9 PETITE will race with the addition of blinkers today. She gave a good sight at her debut when finishing well to run third over 1300m F&M maiden at Cranbourne on January 5. She was specked into $12 and gets Damian Lane here.

No1 BUCKHOUND followed a solid debut second at Echuca with a good fourth over 1600m maiden at Sandown on January 10. James Winks rides again and he jumps from a similar barrier in gate seven today.

No2 LE BEAU ETOILE had a hard run but showed bravery to run a close fourth over 1318m maiden at Geelong on January 4. He was the $4 favourite that day and will be further improved for the outing. Has a similar draw in 13.

VALUE RUNNER: No2 LE BEAU ETOILE

R3 – 7.00pm. Falcone & Adams Lawyers Maiden Plate – 1200m.

No11 SPIRIT OF AQUADA (NEXT BEST BET) on city form looks hard to beat today. Last start ran a strong third over 1100m maiden at Caulfield on January 17. Has been placed at four of his past five starts and has a perfect alley in gate one. He took the lead 300m out from the winning post last time and had to face challengers and fought bravely in defeat. Ben Thompson keeps the ride and he carries 57kg again.

No3 JACKY PAPER is first-up after giving a bold sight at debut to finish third over 1003m at Moe in August

No 8 FIRE AND BRIMSTONE is by top sire Fastnet Rock for the top stable Team Hayes. Wears blinkers and a lugging bit at debut.

No4 ROYAL VOLLEY has a superior second-up record and was first up from a 20-week spell last start.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 ROYAL VOLLEY

R4 – 7.30pm. VoteBB Maiden Plate – 1400m.

No15 EVOLUTIONIST looks well suited dropping a kilo down to 57kg on her last start sixth after sitting four deep through out over 1530m maiden at Geelong on January 11. She is also entered for Ballarat on Wednesday. Watch for scratchings.

*SCRATCHED*  No6 REZEALIENT is a son of leading sire Sebring and is trained by the top stable of Team Hayes. He also gets Adelaide’s premier rider Jamie Kah to steer at his debut. He underlined he was primed for a top showing with a trial win over 1100m at Tatura on January 16.

*SCRATCHED*  No10 IMMACULATE SECRET made a solid debut when running a good second over 1130m maiden at Geelong on January 11. Will wear a tongue tie tonight and the extra distance should suit on breeding.

No9 BRALCA’S GEM (BEST ROUGHIE) Damian Lane taking the reins is a big bonus and ran a sound fourth over 1209m fillies' maiden at Yarra Valley first-up on January 9. She is from a well-known staying stable and the extra ground tonight should assist.

VALUE RUNNER: No9 BRACULA’S GEM

R5 – 8.00pm. K4Construction BM64 Handicap – 2500m.

No1 AURORA ROSE fought hard at her first Victorian start to run a sound second over 2447m at Geelong on January 11. She was not wanted in betting easing from $2.60 to $4.80, but gave a good sight to her backers.

No4 CHERON WARRIOR was a smart winner over 2837m at Kyneton five starts ago. Last start was never on the track when running ninth over 2420m at Caulfield on December 16. Lachlan King’s 1.5kg claim drops his weight to 57.5kg.

No2 SAILORS FALLS was searching for a hat-trick but bad luck struck and lost his rider when backed into a $3 favourite over 2447m at Geelong on January 11. Carries the same weight on 60kg and Ben Allen is back on top.

No9 SKILLED HUNTER has been racing well and was well placed when landing a convincing win over 2200m at Hamilton on January 12. Leading stable rider John Allen rides again and he drops a kilo to 58kg tonight.

VALUE RUNNER: No2 SAILORS FALLS

R6 – 8.30pm. Henzen Brothers Construction Class 1 Handicap – 1400m.

No3 KAPTIVE HERO gets his chance to atone tonight after claiming a string of placings as a warm favourite. Latest he was a $3.20 favourite before finishing second over 1400m at Ballarat on January 14. Has a good draw in gate seven.

No1 HOUSTON STREET is resuming from a 28-week spell and has a good record racing fresh of two starts for a win and a third. He is having his first start for new trainer David Brideoake and showed he was primed with a 1000m trial win at Stony Creek.

*SCRATCHED* No5 SOMETHING SILVER broke the ice at only her second start with a fighting win in a 1400m maiden at Cranbourne on January 5. Michael Walker again rides from a good draw in gate two and has the same weight on 56kg.

*SCRATCHED* No4 KEDLESTON finally broke through for a maiden win over 1209m in a maiden at Yarra Valley on January 9. That was his 12th start and he carried 55.5kg with Chris Caserta’s claim. Caserta rides tonight but he carries his listed weight on 57.5kg.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 KEDLESTON

R7 – 9.00pm. Delarue Tyres Sprint F&M BM70 Handicap – 1200m.

No4 BARCHETTA (BEST BET) had the bar raised high when she finished 13th over 1200m at Caulfield on January 7. She did pull up lame from the start so would forget she went around. She was a brilliant winner at her prior start over 1170m at Echuca and has a record of two wins and a second at her four starts. Winning jockey Luke Nolen is back on board her for the first time this campaign. Looks a strong winning chance.

No9 PETE’S DRAGON went down as a favourite last start at Cranbourne on a heavy 9 on January 12. Can atone.

No3 PLENTY TO LIKE is having her first start for new trainer Nick Ryan following Stuart Webb being stood down. Rock solid second-up record.

No1 INVICTUM DOMINA was given a soft trial at Tatura and has a brilliant record fresh.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 PLENTY TO LIK

R8 – 9.30pm. The Ranges Hotel BM64 Handicap – 1200m.

No2 CHAVUMA has an outstanding record at this track of two starts for a win and a second. Faces milder opposition here than last start when steadily finishing on to run ninth over 1000m at Sandown on January 10.

No5 KENTUCKY FLYER will wear blinkers for the first time at his return to the track from a four-week break. Last start he ran a good sixth over 1214m at Moe on January 17. He is on the quick back up but has a good third up record.

No9 CAMBRIDGE LADY won over 1000m at her debut at Cranbourne at her inaugural campaign. Returns here from a 56-week spell and has Group 1 winning rider Michael Dee to steer. Watch market.

No11 REGAL EMBRACE was a brilliant winner at this track at his penultimate start, before finishing last of nine over 1400m at Flemington on August 8. Gets top Adelaide hoop Jamie Kah to guide and wears blinkers for the first time.

VALUE RUNNER: No9 CAMBRIDGE LADY
