Doomben (Friday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 3.
Doomben on Australia Day with a handy program and the rail out a mile. The track has had little rain but a lot of watering. As we keep saying the race pattern is pretty well set with on a dry or soft track with those on the pace suited early and backmarkers coming into their own late.

Best Roughie: R4 – 9. SUN DECK
R1 - 12.42pm. SKY THORUGHBRED CENTRAL Maiden Handicap - 1110m.
No3 METIS One of the stars of the trials recently before finishing second at both race starts with the latest at Doomben two weeks ago. Should just about win this from a good barrier.
No5 WRITTINKO Has run third at both race starts and on each occasion did not have much luck. This suits from a handy barrier.
No10 SNOW SPARKLE Scratched from the Gold Coast on Wednesday to run here and has the inside barrier. Form has been solid and has a chance.
No2 RED MAHOGANY Fell last start when travelling strongly at the Sunshine Coast. Previous form okay but we did like his trial second earlier this month.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 SNOW SPARKLE
R2 - 1.17pm. DOLLY'S DREAM QTIS Three-Years-Old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate - 1200m.
No4 LOVE AND ROCK IT (NEXT BEST BET) Has been trialing very well and finished mid field at last start in the Magic Millions Maiden. Down sharply in class here and had no luck from a wide barrier last time and did well to finish as close as he did. Promising and should be too good for this lot.
No6 NAKED Well beaten at last start before a spell in July in a far stronger race. Previous form was very good with two placings and looks the main danger.
No8 REBEL SAGA First starter who has had four trials. Won the latest in handy fashion and has claims here.
No11 THE LAWYER Hasn't run since August but has been trialing well and looks ready to improve here.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 THE LAWYER
R4 - 2.32pm. KODI'S MESSAGE Class 2 Plate - 1660m.
No7 NAMIB At first run back from a spell too strong for a fair field at the Sunshine Coast over 1400m. This distance suits better and ready to win again.
No9 SUN DECK (BEST ROUGHIE) Has two runs from a sell with latest effort fourth at Ipswich in a small but quality field. Out to a suitable distance now and ready to race well from an inside barrier.
No1 COULTHARD Has been racing well this area with a Gold Coast win three starts back and the strong second at Ipswich last time when had no luck. Better suited here.
No4 SUPERBEE Has handy form in New South Wales over a middle distance. Has had two trials to get ready for return here for a Caloundra stable. Not the worst.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 COULTHARD
R5 - 3.12pm. GIRL'S DAY OUT RACEDAY Class 3 Handicap - 1200m.
No2 VICEMAN Recent form in this type of race is strong and won at Murwillumbah last start, where had some trouble. This is not much harder and is one of the few top chances well drawn.
No13 WILD AVA Not very big so suited down in the weights here. Battled on well for third to a couple of handy horses at Doomben last start and is one of the better hops.
No7 ROCK ON DESTINY Hasn't run since strong Ipswich winner in early December but has had a trial and ready to race well here.
No11 ISLA TRISTINA Has been mixing races between Sydney and Brisbane of late. Form at both centres has been solid and just needs some luck here from tricky barrier.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 ROCK ON DESTINY
R6 - 3.52pm. PINK LADY Class 1 Plate - 2240m.
No6 THE PINKERTON Promising young stayer taking on older horses. Good third first and then run off his feet over 1800m at the Gold Coast next start. This distance suits better.
No1 HIGH WIND Has won one from 21 starts which sums him up. But related to some very good stayers and not bad when placed at 1800m last start. Give one more chance in a weak race.
No9 USENA Made up good ground when fourth in an 1800m race at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday. Probably better suited this trip.
No10 EUNGAI Will be big odds here but has always indicated staying might be his go. Plugged away here last and this trip should suit.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 EUNGAI
R7 - 4.27pm. BIG SCREEN ON THE GREEN Fillies and Mares Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1350m.
No6 FATAL RENDEZVOUS She has won her past two starts at the Sunshine Coast where she has been strong at the finish. The only worry is coming back to this smaller track but she does look well placed here.
No4 ON A HIGH A most consistent mare who was rewarded with a last start Ipswich win. Only has to repeat that run to be in the finish here and always an each-way hope.
No8 TIME TO PLAY Kept trying hard when second to a promising horse at Ipswich last start. This doesn't look much harder and back against own sex here.
No10 VERILY Started big odds when she won for us last start. That lived up a good trial last month and while she will be big odds here is not without some claims especially if we get rain.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 TIME TO PLAY
R8 - 5.05pm. EVENTS AT BRC Colts, Geldings and Entires Benchmark 65 Handicap- 1350m.
No1 DREAMSCOPE Very consistent and never far from the place money. Toowoomba winner two starts back and then struck some trouble when third at Ipswich. This is fairly weak so should be hard to beat.
No2 GREGORY Has accepted in two races but strong chance on fast finishing win this track at first run back from a spell.
No6 LOCUS Was racing very well late last year but recent form is just fair. Still will be up on the pace here and this isn't very strong. Looks one of the better hopes.
No8 MR BELLAGIO Two runs from a spell have been good with placings at the Sunshine Coast and Doomben in harder races than this. Looks ready to win now.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 LOCUS
R3 - 1.52pm. WWW.BRC.COM.AU QTIS Three-Years-Old Fillies Maiden Plate - 1200m.
No4 ITALIA BELLA (BEST BEST) Very promising filly who is heading south for the autumn carnival next month. All her runs have been in top grade where she has performed very well. Latest was a third behind two top class three-year-olds at the Gold Coast. Has won a recent trial and looks far too good for these.
No10 SHE SEESEVERYTHING Looks the obvious danger to Italia Bella on her second in the rich Magic Millions Maiden last start. There were problems with her race gear in that race and there is a good case to say she should have won in a race run in very fast time.
No5 MAGIC ANNA From a leading stable and has had four trials to get ready for her first start here. Looks to have claims on trial efforts.
No12 TOLAI MERI Good second at last start at the Sunshine Coast when did strike a lot of trouble and probably should have won. Each-way here.
