Gold Coast (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Gold Coast. Today’s best bet is in race 1.

Thu, 25 Jan, 20:21

Another Saturday at the Gold Coast with some big fields and as usual value chances in most races. The track has been playing lightning fast and it should be the same again. Backing up from a meeting on Wednesday where it was rock hard. All horses should get their chances.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play:  1,6/5,7/2,7/3,8

Wide Play: 1,2,6,11/1,5,7,10/2,6,7,9/2,3,8,10

Next Best Bet:  R5 – 2. BEAT THE BEAST

Best Roughie: R4 – 5. LOVE AND LIES

R1 - 12.43pm. All Members Memorial Maiden Hadnicap - 900m.

No4 GIVEM HELL (BEST BEST) A funny race to make a special but on form there looks to be only two possible chances and this one is the best of them. Only has to reproduce last-start second this track and distance to win this.

No3 VICTORY STAR Three race starts have been okay without being anything flash. But did win a recent trial in handy fashion and this is very weak.

No5 MARIKINA Has run last at her past two race starts. But showed a bit more ability when placed in a recent trial. Might be on the improve and would want to be.

No6 YOU'RE SO VAIN Placed at Esk two runs back and does have some pace but has also had a few chances.

R2 - 1.18pm. Stuart James Memorial Maiden Handicap - 1400m.

No6 AMERICAN LOVE Should have finished closer when fifth in a strong Doomben maiden last start and getting better with racing.

No5 IT'S CHOUX TIME Had some handy New South Wales provincial form before coming north and we liked her trial win recently at this track.

No2 CHASIN Nothing went right at Doomben last start when well beaten but was second this track previous start and rates a hope.

No9 BUXTON Was very wayward early in his career but gradually getting better with racing. Has run third at past two starts and the 1400m around this track looks ideal.

R3 - 1.53pm. Dianne Smith Memorial Class 4 Handicap - 1100m.

No5 WIRNPA Was very impressive at first start this area when winning at the Sunshine Coast. Should be further improved for this.

No1 CONSTANTINE Has shown promise in previous campaigns and is a first-up winner. Trialled solidly recently and has to be an each-way hope.

No7 MUDDY ROPE Having first start this track but a good run when second at the Sunshine Coast last time. Each-way here.

No2 FINAL OVER Resuming here but won and placed three times from five starts before a spell. Has a very good first-up record.

R4 - 2.28pm. Elizabeth (Betty) Doran Memorial Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1400m.

No2 ELLAWISDOM An old mare who is usually about the place these type of races in her later days. Won at Toowoomba last start and has won this track. One of the better hopes.

No5 LOVE AND LIES (BEST ROUGHIE) Showed plenty of pace before finishing well back in an open at Ipswich last start over 1350m. This is easier and should be on the pace for a long way again.

No6 BURNING MOUNTAIN Had no luck when fourth at Toowoomba last start and winner that track previous start. This isn't a strong race and down in the weights here.

No1 COUNTER MEAL Best known as a wet track horse but not a bad third last time at Ipswich in a stronger race than this.

R5 - 3.08pm. Glen McCabe Memorial QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate - 1400m.

No2 BEAT THE BEAST (NEXT BEST BET) Could have easily won both his starts instead of finishing second in each of them. Well placed at the weights and has the inside barrier. Has plenty of ticks.

No11 ANOTHER DOLLAR Trialled well before first start when stout second at Doomben to a promising horse. Will be improved further.

No6 EPIC RANT Placed at Rosehill earlier in his career and a very good fifth in the Magic Millions Maiden gives him a strong hope here. The 1400m is a question mark.

No1 BACK CHAT Wanted to hang in down the running when second at Toowoomba last time. Should be improved by racing.

R6 - 3.48pm. Eric Cowell Memorial Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1800m.

No5 TIARNAN Caught deep and finally got to the lead after 800m when then led and fought on when fourth this track and distance last start. If he get a lead early he will be hard to beat.

No7 TRIUMPH STAR Gosford winner two starts back and then failed that track. This isn't hard and on best New South Wales provincial form can win.

No1 GALIANO Always tries hard to rarely wins too many. Good third at Ballina last time and should be handy for a long way here.

No10 WINDMILL FOLLIES Placed Ballina two starts back and the failed at Gatton but didn't handle the track. Each-way here at big odds.

R7 - 4.28pm. Frank Evans Memorial Class 2 Handicap - 1200m.

No2 EXCEED ALL ODDS Promising and won well at Ipswich last month. Has since won a trial and looks the major player here.

No7 DISTROYIA Resuming here and did nothing in a recent trial. While better known as a 1600m horse has some class and won first-up previous campaign.

No9 ONENESS Winner this track in June before a spell. Has had two trials to get ready for return and does show promise.

No6 WINDCATCHER Has had a few problems but on his day is handy. Failed this track and in a tougher race last month but previous form was good for a race like this.

R8 - 5.06pm. Past Heroes of Racing Class 1 Handicap - 1400m.

No3 FRENCH DESCENT Strong at the finish when finally won his maiden this track last start. Has been pretty honest and might be ready to put a few wins together.

No10 BEACON STREET Has been gradually improving with racing and handy win at Ipswich last start gives him another chance here.

No2 SHAOLIN KUNGFU Related to some very smart horses but he isn't any champion. Still plugs away and always worth an each-way ticket this class.

No8 PRINCESS ELLE Trialled nicely before first start win at Murwillumbah. Barrier no help here but has claims.
