Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 4.

Thu, 1 Feb, 10:39 AM

Doomben continues to be asked to do a lot of work but is holding up well. The track has had little rain but plenty of irrigation. The race pattern is pretty well set with on a dry to soft track with those on the pace suited early and backmarkers coming into their own late. Some big fields means there will be value results.

Next Best Bet:  R2 – 5. EXPERTEA

Best Roughie: R6 – 10. SILIQUA

R1 - 12.32pm. SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1050m.

No3 SPIRIT OF CHEROKEE First starter by top first-season-sire Spirit of Boom. Has not had an official trial but reports are he is pretty smart. Has drawn the inside barrier which is a huge help from this tricky start.

No1 DESERT DIGBY He was strong at the finish when winning his only start in a two-year-old at the Gold Coast. Has drawn well here with the top jockey so rates very highly.

No6 ACCOMPLISH Chased home a smart horse when second at only start in a feature race at Toowoomba. No trial since but stable always a chance when it brings two-year-olds to Brisbane.

No7 COSSIE Will be big odds here but we liked his trial win at the Gold Coast before first race start when third at that track. Looked as though the run would have done him good and has value hopes here.

R2 - 1.07pm. GIRLS DAY OUT RACEDAY Benchmark 80 Handicap - 2000m.

No5 EXPERTEA (NEXT BEST BET) Is a stayer of some promise and good winner this track last start when able to lead. Should get the lead again and is still down in the weights. The one to beat.

No1 EXOTERIC At first start this area was too strong in an 1800m race at the Gold Coast. Best known as a stayer and getting out to correct distance now. The stable has dominated middle distance races here for some time.

No2 ALLZIN Has shown ability and good effort when third at Canterbury in Sydney last start. On best efforts would be right in this.

No6 CONTRALTO Came from a long way back to win this track at his last start over 1630m. No reason he shouldn't run a strong 2000m in this class.

R3 - 1.42pm. HASTINGS DEERING Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1600m.

No15 MAYBE EVEN YOU Strong win in an easier race this track last time when finished fast. Has a good barrier and top jockey so hard to beat again.

No3 BAKER BOY Finished very well to win at Ipswich last time. Drawn to lead or sit on the pace here. Good value chance.

No8 WACK ‘EM Gold Coast form is consistent and good second there last start. This isn't much harder and just needs some luck from tricky barrier.

No10 MALKARA Three runs from a spell have been okay. Handy Gold Coast third last time and fitter now.

R4 - 2.17pm. CIVFORCE PIPELAYING QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1350m.

No3 JOHNNY WHITESOX (BEST BET) Promising young horse who was an easy winner first-up at Ipswich. This looks perfect race for him from a good barrier at the 1350m. Has won this track and should get the run of the race here.

No1 RANCHO MONTOYA A smart horse who races like a future staying star. Has had a trial win to get ready for first-up run here. Engaged in two races but top chance if runs here.

No8 SUSURRI Ran second in this class and track at last start. Trapped four deep most of the way and probably should have won. Could lead here and is an each-way hope.

No6 BIMINI ROAD Smart filly who gets up on the pace in her races. She has little luck in her races and can improve on recent form which includes a last-start second at Ipswich.

R5 - 2.57pm. DANIEL BULLIMORE OPEN Handicap - 1200m.

No7 BOOMWAA Former star two-year-old who has taken a long time to get back to his best. Won this track and distance last start in fast time and is getting down in the weights for going up in class. Hard to beat.

No4 DREAM FINNISH Has a record of winning first-up at big odds. Better known as a 1600m horse but with the pace on fresh here can continue her great first-up record.

No2 STELLA OMBRA Has been okay this campaign with fourths at his two most recent starts in similar races to this. Down in the weights and going okay but really does want some rain.

No1 UPSTART PRIDE Well beaten in the Magic Millions sprint at his last start but previous form is sound and does usually race well this track. It all depends on whether he is attacked in the lead.

R6 - 3.37pm. ALLIANCE AIRLINES No Metro Wins Handicap - 1110m.

No6 TVERSKY This is a very tough race but at least he has won his past starts although in smaller fields. Has a nice barrier and a top jockey so he has claims again here.

No10 SILIQUA (BEST ROUGHIE) Will be big odds here because gets back in his races and can rattle home. Last start got decked at the start when second at Ipswich and should have won. Watch for him late.

No7 ZENDAYE Has some strong provincial form but just struggled a bit when comes to Saturday races. Never the less, is very well drawn here and should get the run of the race.

No13 JADENTOM Back to her best form when Sunshine Coast winner at her last start. Suited at the weights here and should be up on the pace most of the way.

R7 - 4.17pm. BRENT KIELLY MEMORIAL Class 3 Plate - 1350m.

No12 LYRICIST didn’t have a lot of luck getting a clear run when fourth this track last start. Suited at this trip and at the weights. Just needs some luck in the straight.

No1 LAST ARMAGEDDON Has won two of his past three starts at the provincials and shows a lot of promise. Has the inside barrier and a 3kgs claim so must be among the best chances here.

No14 WITNESS Has been most consistent with two wins and a second past three starts on the provincial tracks. Looks well placed at the weights and this type of race suits.

No13 MISS KINDILAN Scored a strong win this track two runs back and forget last start when well beaten in a harder race this track. Can improve sharply here.

R8 - 4.55pm. ICON GROUP OPEN Handicap - 1600m.

No2 TORGERSEN Should have finished closer when fifth in a $100,000 race at the Sunshine Coast last start. The 1600m in this average field makes him a real hope.

No7 SLYDINI We would like to own him but he has been frustrating for connections with four straight seconds and has missed a place only once in past nine starts. But he has won only once. Some rain would help his cause.

No4 BRAZEN MOSS Was huge odds when fourth in a top quality race at the Sunshine Coast last start. The 1600m will suit and only needs to repeat last start to nearly win this.

No6 GLENDARA Was midfield in the Magic Millions QTIS race last start but run a lot better than it looks on paper. Didn't have a lot of luck last time and has a handy record this track and distance.

R9 - 5.35pm. INTEGRA ADVISORY Benchmark 85 Handicap - 1350m.

No1 I'M A RIPPA Has found top form winning the Magic Millions QTIS race last start. Has a good record this track and distance and a 3kgs claim here. Should be on the pace for long way.

No10 SHE'S MISS DEVINE Getting back to somewhere near her best form with a third in the magic Millions QTIS race. The barrier no help here but still has claims.

No2 OINK Finished strongly for second this track last start and out to a more suitable distance now. Still has a big weight but does rate a good chance in this class.

No14 PLUCKY GIRL Never runs a bad race and beat a horse which has won since at the Gold Coast last time. Always an each-way hope and is very well off at the weights here.
