Randwick for midweek racing here in Sydney this week, and it is a rare midweek meeting here with only 7 races on the card. Don’t look by this meeting either. This meeting last year had, Alizee, Trapeeze Artist and Ace High, all of whom were beaten. The sires winner Invader was also a winner here. The track is currently soft, but will be good come race time and the rail is out 12m.

Next Best Bet: R2 – 5. TANGMERE
Best Roughie: R3 – 5. LUCKY LOUIE
No4 ROYAL WITNESS has been trialing up in very good order coming into the debut run here, so much so that he has been well backed in Slipper markets already, excited to see him debut here.
No2 HIEMAL started fav in the Breeders Plate, and not a lot went right there, he was taken on, in the run and was quite green in the straight. The trial has been quite good and he should run well.
No7 ZOUSAIN has trialled quite well twice coming into the debut run here. He gets a good run on the map here from gate 1 and should be respected.
No8 MISS BLUMENTHAL started short in the Inglis race on Cox Plate day and was quite new there. Better for the experience and the trial was good.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 ZOUSAIN
No5 TANGMERE (NEXT BEST BET) is a son of Frankel who resumes here and should appreciate the 1400m fresh on the big track. I believe there is a good amount of ability within this colt and he has trialled well coming in and he should be much better for the experience in that first prep.
No6 KOOKABAA was solid enough first-up finding the line well in a race which wasn’t run to suit, second-up he should be better.
No7 SEMPER FIDELIS was solid enough in the first prep and she looks to be an oaks filly to my eye, 1400m may be too short fresh.
No2 SCHOOLMATES is on debut here and has been trialing well enough leading in.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SEMPER FIDELIS
No1 MY WISEMAN has been trialing in very good order coming into the debut run here. Bridge always produces a smart one at this time of year, so it would be wise to pay close attention to him.
No7 RIDICULE comes out of a solid enough race on debut and has trialled well leading into this.
No4 SWAFFHAM BULBECK comes out of some solid enough races at the first two starts and has trialled well coming in.
No5 LUCKY LOUIE (BEST ROUGHIE) resumes here off an Oaks campaign in the spring, she has trialled well and could run well fresh.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 LUCKY LOUIE
No3 SPIRIT AND FIRE resumes from a long break and for a new trainer here. He has been gelded coming into this prep and the trial was ok enough, he is unbeaten fresh.
No1 INVINCIBLE QUEST gets down to 59kgs now thanks to the claim for JVO. He is a flying machine who has a great fresh record.
No2 AKASAKI was very good when winning last start and bounced back into form. He has a great 1000m record and should run well.
No5 STAR SHAFT resumes here and has a good fresh record. He resumes off a long break here and may take some benefit from the run.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 AKASAKI
No1 CANBERRA should be much better second-up here. She looked pregnant in the mounting yard and out to a distance that suits should run well.
No5 MULL OVER comes back in grade here where she wasn’t suited last start. She should be much better at the mile here.
No6 STELLA VICTORIA won in brilliant fashion last start when breaking the maiden finally. 1600m should suit her better.
No2 ALLEZ BIEN should roll forward from the gate here and gets in well for the claim with JVO. She looks hard to beat off recent form.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 MULL OVER
No11 VARUSKA should be much better suited stepping up to the 2400m at home here. He was looking for the 2400m last start when winning.
No10 LUCKY LEGEND won well last start and has had the trial between the run and should have no issue with 2400m.
No1 THE GAVEL will run well here stepping up in trip to the 2400m at home and looks to have his chance.
No13 MAZAZ drops well in grade here from BM75s in Brisbane where he has been going well enough and should run well here.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 LUCKY LEGEND
No10 DANZIE (BEST BET) smashed them when resuming at Warwick Farm and should be much better second up here. From the gate Shinn should roll across from the gate here and look to dominate the race. He looks to be a progressive horse.
No9 KOPI LUWAK was scratched out of an easier race on Saturday and looks to be much better suited here map wise. He looks to be a country championships horse.
No8 ALL IN THE REFLEXS was a touch flat second-up at home last start. She should be much improved here and has last shot at them.
No7 SO YOU WIN resumes here and the 1400m looks to suits. Well bred gelding who will run well.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 ALL IN THE REFLEXES
