Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 3.

Thu, 8 Feb, 10:39 AM

Doomben was drenched by rain last Saturday but it can recover quickly. The track has had little rain this week but still should have the give out of it. As we say each week the race pattern is pretty well set on a dry to soft track with those on the pace suited early and backmarkers coming into their own late. Some big fields and ten races means there will again be value results.

QUADDIES (races 7-8-9-10)

Skinny Play:  10,13/10,15/4,10,12/4,10

Wide Play:  2,10,12,13/10,11,13,15/2,4,10,12/2,4,7,9,10

Next Best Bet: R1 – 2. GET ON THE GRANGE

Best Roughie: R5 – 5. ANOTHER DOLLAR

R1 - 11.57am. Coca Cola Open Handicap - 2200m.

No2 GET ON THE GRANGE (NEXT BEST BET) Has been racing against stronger fields in Sydney and good second there last start. Has won this track and looks very hard to beat here.

No1 OUTRAGED Very unlucky in the Magic Millions Trophy when third and then far too strong in a Caloundra Open 2200m last start. Top chance again.

No6 KIRINI Has been racing very well since coming north from Sydney. Forget last start when got too far back when had a big weight. Much better suited this small field and with a light weight.

No3 MORENDI Getting back to his best form with a solid second at Caloundra last start. Has won this track and always a danger if there is a genuine early pace.

R2 - 12.32pm. Cascade Class 3 Plate - 1050m.

No3 MR MARBELLOUZ Boom Toowoomba galloper who has won three of his four starts. Easy winner in Toowoomba last time and has drawn the rails here.

No1 CAPTAIN PARKER Has been a model of consistency since coming north from Victoria. Ran a record when winning at Kilcoy last start and well-drawn at the barriers here.

No13 JEST EXCEL Resuming here but has had two trials which were both solid. Has to be an each-way chance on best form.

No5 SECRET MO Form has been patchy but we liked his recent trial when second at this track. On his day could surprise.

R3 - 1.07pm. Jim Beam QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap - 1200m.

No4 PLUMARO (BEST BET) Won a Toowoomba two year old by 9.25 lengths on debut. Missed the start but had a brilliant final burst. This looks ideal and hard to beat.

No5 RED DOULTON Backing up from last week after winning at Gatton and then finishing fourth this track last Saturday. Better suited to 1200m.

No9 LASHONI First starter but has had two solid trials to get ready for this race. From a noted first-up stable.

No1 YOU KNOW THE ONE Scored an upset win at the Gold Coast at first race start and then didn't handle the wet track when well beaten at this track before a spell.

R4 - 1.42pm. CANADIAN CLUB QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1200m.

No4 BASARA Good winner this track first-up and had no luck at all when third at the Sunshine Coast last start. Can improve here with luck.

No8 SHESEES EVERYTHING Very unlucky when second in the Magic Millions maiden and since beat a strong field here. Can continue to win.

No2 ABSOLUTLYPOSITIVLY Most impressive winner against a good field at Ipswich last start. A filly who is on the up.

No1 SNITZ Classy young horse who hasn't run since winning at this track in September. Has had a barrier trial and not asked to do much in it. Has raced well fresh.

R5 - 2.17pm. MT FRANKLIN QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1615m.

No12 EPIC RANT Has been racing very well without winning. This distance suits and should have finished closer when fourth in a similar race to this last start.

No5 ANOTHER DOLLAR (BEST ROUGHIE) Two runs have been very good with an unlucky second at here followed by a strong win at the Gold Coast. Good value hope.

No1 PINCH PASSION Very strong at the finish when second at the Sunshine Coast last start and put to the right distance at 1600m. Classy at his best.

No2 TROMMELSCHLAGEN Very heavily backed when well beaten this track last start. But didn't seem to handle the heavy going.

R6 - 2.57pm. Makers Mark Open Handicap - 1350m.

No4 I'M A RIPPA Won the Magic Millions QTIS race last start and is racing very well in general. Has the pace to overcome a wide barrier.

No6 BIDII BABE Excellent effort when second in a $100,000 race at the Sunshine Coast last start. Has some good form in previous campaigns and looks one of the main hopes.

No2 FLAMBOYER Beaten out of sight at the Sunshine Coast but better this track with some give in the ground. Should be on the pace and recent trial win was very good.

No1 HONEY TOAST Quality galloper resuming here after suffering a tendon injury. Has had a couple of jump outs and reportedly working very well.

R8 - 4.17pm. Coke Zero Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1615m.

No10 SHOW ‘EM Strong Ipswich win two runs back and then no luck when fourth at the Gold Coast. Stepping up in class but good value here and this is an ideal race.

No15 BENFICA PRINCESS Won here in a good fashion and then never hope in a tougher class last time. Gets back but with pace on here should be rattling home.

No12 COLOUR OF MONEY Strong at the finish when winner at the Sunshine Coast and although this race is very tough, he is another of the value hopes we have found in it.

No11 VAULTING AMBITION This is a very hard race but good second last start and is looking for 1600m around this track. Another at good odds here.

R9 - 4.55pm. Cascade Class 3 Plate - 1350m.

No10 SUGGAN BUGGAN No doubt he should have won the Magic Millions Country Cup instead of finishing second last start. This is easier and looks hard to beat.

No12 LYRICIST No luck in the straight when fourth here last start and is one of many hopes at good odds here.

No2 LAST ARMAGEDDON Racing very well at the provincials with two wins and a second past three starts. Has a 3kgs claim here and a good barrier. Ticks plenty of boxes.

No4 MUSTARRID This is a tough race to be second-up in but he was handy when resuming at Toowoomba and on his best day would win this.

R7 - 3.37pm. Sprite Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1200m.

No10 DREAM MASTER Could not have been more impressive in two wins at the provincial tracks of late. Ready to take the step to city racing here.

No12 NILETTE Honest mare who never runs a bad race but struggles to win. Excellent effort last start when third at the Sunshine Coast and always an each-way hope.

No3 BARNSLEY Beat a small but handy field at Ipswich and then ran into trouble when unplaced at the Sunshine Coast. This suits better.

No13 JADENTOM Handy mare who has won three of past five starts at the provincial tracks. Races on the pace which is a big help in this large field.

R10 - 5.30pm. Canadian Club Class 6 Plate - 1200m.

No4 HANWRITTEN Very handy horse who has won two trials when ridden from behind recently. Can mix his form but is a Sydney winner and goes well fresh.

No10 OINK Stormed home for second in a good quality race last start this track. Probably looking for 1350m but still rates highly.

No7 ZENDAYE Placed past two in easier races and has won this track. At least we know he should be on the pace which in this big field is an advantage.

No2 LUCKY TOM Will be very big odds here but down in class, races well on the fresh side, and has a good record this track and distance. For those desperate to get out on a long priced horse.
