Canterbury (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Canterbury. Today’s best bet is in race 3.
Canterbury for our midweek meeting in Sydney, where we have eight races on the card, smaller fields later in the day but a nice 2yo race to kick off proceedings. The weather as of late has been brilliant and we will be on a good track with the rail out 6m.
QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)
Skinny Play: 2,4,6 - 1,6,7 - 1,5 - 1,6
Wide Play: 2,4,6,7 - 1,5,6,7 - 1,2,5 - 1,6,9
BEST BET: R3 – 2. TANGMERE
Next Best Bet: R1 – 1. PINDUS
Best Roughie: R6 – 6. JUST SHINE
R1 – 12.55pm Pluck @ Vinery Handicap - 1200m.
No1 PINDUS (NEXT BEST BET) comes out of what I think will be a good race on debut and should derive a lot of benefit out of it. From the gate (10) Glyn will get back off the speed here and look to close late, I think he is a smart conveyance.
No10 BOLD ARIAL comes out of a good race last start behind Fiesta, and gets a good run behind the speed here.
No7 REPUBLIC has been trialing well leading into the debut and should run well here.
No8 SIGNORE FOX has been trialing in good style leading into the debut run, and extended nicely when asked.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 REPUBLIC
R2 – 1.35pm. TAB Rewards Plate - 1200m.
No6 RIDIUCLE should be much fitter after the first-up run where he closed off well enough and has her chance.
No2 PRIMITIVO was scratched out of a race last week, and brings quite good form to this and gets a good run on the map.
No4 LONGMU was solid enough fresh and should take a lot of improvement from the run.
No1 MAHAL has had a lot of gear changes coming into this prep and the trial was quite good.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 PRIMITIVO
R3 – 2.15pm. #THERACES Handicap - 1550m.
No2 TANGMERE (BEST BET) got the job done for us in good style first-up and really charged through the line when McEvoy asked him. He looks to be a horse with a lot of upside and should improve a lot stepping up in distance.
No4 IMPASSE was a strong winner when stepping up in distance at start two, and should run well again.
No3 ANGEL’S BOY won a weak maiden at the provincials and looks the leader here.
No1 SO YOU WIN should be improved for the first-up run and gets a soft run on the map.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 ANGEL’S BOY
R4 – 2.50pm. TAB Handicap - 1550m.
No5 DANZIE was three wide no cover second-up and probably should have won that race, he draws a soft gate here and should be too good.
No3 WEEKEND AFFAIR has been in solid enough form as of late and will look to ambush them late.
No2 HAND FROM ABOVE is well weighted after the claim and will go back from the gate and should be suited up to 1550m.
No6 VEGA has a good enough record over the mile and should run well.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 HAND FROM ABOVE
R5 – 3.25pm. Bowermans Office Furniture Handicap - 1100m.
No2 KENNEDY drops in grade here after a good run last start, he stays at the 1100m here and should dominate the race.
No4 SPENDING TO WIN should sit just off them here and have last shot at them, he has been in good form this time in.
No6 DISSOLUTE has trialled well coming into this and gets a good run on the map.
No7 LEGADEMA was a good winner at the first start for the new trainer and should run well again.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 DISSOLUTE
R6 – 4.05pm. TAB.com.au Handicap - 1900m.
No6 JUST SHINE (BEST ROUGHIE) was good when stepping up in distance last start, the 1900m suits even more and he is hard to beat.
No1 CYRUS ROCKS has been in good form this time in and looks the likely leader again.
No7 QUEEN OF HEIGHTS backs up quickly from Friday night and has a good record at the track.
No5 MORE MOET drops well in grade here and can turn it around.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 MORE MOET
R7 – 4.45pm. Ranvet Handicap - 1250m.
No5 NATIONALITY has been quite good in winning both races this time in and the step up to 1250m is suitable.
No1 IRITHEA is well weighted after the claim for JVO coming into this and has a good record at Canterbury.
No2 SPRINTING TO WIN has been trialing up well coming into the fresh run here and has drawn well in 4.
No3 CRAFTY TYCOON has been going well enough this time in to run well.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 SPRINTING TO WIN
R8 – 5.20pm. Australian Turf Club Handicap - 1100m.
No6 MISS QUE was fantastic when she balanced up fresh and charged through the line, she looks to be a nice mare.
No1 SERENE MISS was beaten by barrier 1 last start, take out that run and she is very hard to beat here.
No9 SEXY EYES resumes here, and the two trials coming into this have been more than good enough.
No3 CONCHITA will jump and run them along here. 1200m seems a weird one for her fresh.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 CONCHITA
