Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 1.

Thu, 22 Feb, 11:00 AM

Betting at Doomben has become something of a minefield because with storms and the hot weather track conditions can change rapidly during the afternoon. Due to several factors there are also a lot of scratchings a day even on good tracks. But there is still plenty of value in the meetings and that is the case again here. We have been around the mark of late so let us hope it continues today.

QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny Play:  1,3/5,8/4/8,9

Wide Play:  1 3 11 12 - 5 8 11 14 - 3 4 7 8 - 1 2 5 8 9

Next Best Bet:  R8 –  4. FORTENSKY

Best Roughie: R3 – 6. MISS SARA

R1 - 12.32pm. MIDORI QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 2040m.

No2 EPIC RANT (BEST BET) Promising three-year-old who was a strong winner this track at 1600m at his last start. Form this campaign has been good and this distance looks ideal against an average field.

No1 PINCH PASSION Well beaten at 1600m this track last start but previous form good and the 2000m should suit.

No6 THOUGHT PROCESS Lightly raced and second at the Gold Coast over 1800m at third race start. Can handle wet or dry tracks and this distance also suits.

No3 IOWA Well bred filly who has been solid without being a star in these type of races. Looks a possible knock out horse to the top pair.

R2 - 1.07pm. SOFITEL BRISANE CENTRAL Benchmark 90 Handicap - 2040m.

No2 MORENDI Back near his best last start when won an open company race over 2200m. Back in distance and up in weight but down in grade. At his best is a Cups type horse so hard to beat against these.

No4 EXOTERIC Won over 1800m first run this area at the Gold Coast and then a bit flat when beaten out of the place last time this track. Fitter now.

No6 FIRST CRUSH Getting out to the right distance now after having no luck in a 1600m race last start. Winner this track previous start at big odds.

No8 STANLEY Has shown good form in these distance races previously Good fourth over 1600m this track last start and has a few things in his favour here.

R3 - 1.42pm. LASER CLINICS TOOMBUL QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1350m.

No2 PLUMARO Promising two-year-old won her first start by 9 lengths and then slow to jump when fast finishing second at Doomben. Suited this trip just needs to jump with some zest.

No6 MISS SARA (BEST ROUGHIE) Has been placed all four starts in better company than this. Better suited this distance and has a 3kgs claim.

No8 NOOKS AND CRANNIES Has run second at only two starts. This is harder but has better form than most of these. Another suited out to 1350m.

No1 CHAMPAGNE GARDEN Good run at only start when second at Ipswich. This is harder but should be fitter and bred to handle longer trips.

No1 DREAM MASTER Won two races in good style before second this track when led most of the way. Drawn to win this.

No4 READY FOR DANGER Resuming here and has raced well fresh on occasions. Has some solid form in Sydney and should be charging home late.

No8 LIFESAVER Promising and turned in a huge run when second this track first-up. Has another bad barrier but too good to ignore.

No12 BLACK MINK Good winner last start when he had the run of the race. Has drawn the rails here and looks hard to beat.

R5 - 2.57pm. WILLIAM PATRICK CLARKE MEMORIAL QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1350m.

No1 SNITZ Smart young horse who made it three wins in a row when winner first-up this track last start. Actually drops in weight for the win and this distance looks ideal. Being set for better races than this.

No5 JOHNNY WHITESOX Strong winner first-up at Ipswich and then also strong at the finish when second this track last start. Always tries hard and looks the main danger to the top weight.

No3 HANG Won three races in a row before a spell in good fashion. This is a tough race but shows a lot of promise and can race well fresh.

No10 LOVE AND ROCK IT Has had no luck from wide barriers in most of his races but shows a lot of promise. Good winner this track two runs back and no luck at all last time.

R6 - 3.37pm. MEGAPORT MILE Class 6 Handicap - 1640m.

No1 ALL SUMMER LONG Has been racing very well in NSW country and provincial areas and won at Newcastle last start. Has his share of weight here but this type of race suits.

No3 DOUBT DEFYING Charged home to win at the Sunshine Coast over 1600m last start and has had a trial since. Always a hope these races.

No12 KUTTAMURRA AL Has really come along since moving stables to Toowoomba where he has won four races. Good effort when second at Ipswich last start gives him a chance here at odds.

No11 SHOW ‘EM Had to come from a wide barrier when second this track in a similar race last start. Has a much better barrier this time and rates highly.

R7 - 4.17pm. PRIV249 RESTAURANT AT SOFITEL BRISBANE CENTRAL Benchmark 70 Handicap - 1350m.

No8 SUGGAN BUGGAN He should have won the Magic Millions Country Cup when a close second and then flat footed when the sprint came on this track when sixth at last start. Out to 1600m suits here.

No5 LYRICIST Has been scratched a few times of late but does look one of the better chances here on overall form and last-start fourth this track when had no luck.

No11 MR BELLAGIO Runaway winner this track in easier company last start. Likes this track and has a nice barrier draw for his racing style.

No14 FLEUR D'ORAGE Will be $101 on a dry track but very good in the wet and rain is predicted for the weekend. Always a hope on wet tracks.

R8 - 4.57pm. BLOKES DAY OUT RACEDAY OPEN Handicap - 1350m.

No4 FORTENSKY (NEXT BEST BET) Came from a hopeless position after missing the start to win a strong Class 6 this track and distance last start. If he jumps with the field he should nearly win this.

No7 PLUCKY GIRL Has been most consistent in restricted class and a big winner at the Gold Coast last time. This is much harder but you can be sure she will be trying hard.

No3 FLAMBOYER Three runs from a spell in harder races have been sound. He is lengths better on a wet track and if it rains he will probably start favourite.

No8 PUNTA NORTE Can be a nightmare to follow but smart on his day. Resuming here and has two soft trials. Goes well fresh and likes wet tracks.

R9 - 5.35pm. STARLIGHT FAMILY RACEDAY No Metro Wins Handicap - 1200m.

No8 AMENZEL Like many in the field has very good provincial form of late but he looks to be a horse on the up. Has won his past three starts at the Gold Coast like a very good horse of the future.

No2 WELL SIGHTED Has been racing in top form at the provincial tracks and made it three wins in a row at Dalby last start. This tougher but must be a strong hope here.

No5 TVERSKY Impressed with wins at Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast before caught in wrong part of the track when third at the Sunshine Coast last start. This is a hard race but he looks suited.

No9 BREAK TIME Yet another who has been racing very well at the provincial tracks with wins past four starts at Ipswich and Toowoomba. Another chance in a very hard race.
