Rosehill for Hobartville Stakes day, and what a day of racing we have. The Silver Slipper is a much better race than the Blue Diamond in Melbourne, and the Hobartville Stakes is possibly the best race of the 2017/2018 racing season. It is unbelievably good. Nine races in the card as usual, rail is out 6m which leads to on pacers and we will be on good going.

QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny Play:  4  -  3  -  3,4,10,11,13  -  6,7,10

Wide Play: 1,3,4  -  3,4,8,9  -  2,3,4,7,10,11,13  -  2,3,5,6,7,10,11

BEST BET: R5 – 4. PROMPT RESPONSE

Next Best Bet: R7 – 3. KEMENTARI

Best Roughie: R2 – 11. NETTOYER

R1 – 12.45pm. TAB Highway Handicap - 1100m.

No1 SHE KNOWS resumes here with no trial, but brings a very strong profile to this. She is a highway winner in the past and has placed in two others. I like that she has had the concussion plates off the first time, as Danny Williams may well have fixed her feet up and she can only improve if that is the case.

No4 TRY A LIL HARDER was sensationally backed last start as if unbeatable and had to do it tough there and the effort told late. Back to 1100m is much more suitable here and she looks to be much better placed here map wise and she is hard to beat.

No7 ZARDORO resumes here and brings some very good form to this race from the three starts. He hasn’t had a trial coming into this, has me quite interested here and he could well have improved out of sight coming into the second prep.

No5 BONSLEY resumes here and comes out of a good highway behind Don’t Give A Damn two starts back, where he lead them up on a fast pace, he gets the blinkers on for the first time here and that signals a big amount of intent here and the trial was good.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 ZARDORO

R2 – 1.25pm. #SLIPPERSTYLE Handicap - 1500m.

No1 SHOW A STAR has been doing a brilliant job this time in, winning two of the three runs in very good fashion. He looks to be on an upward spiral, and that’s different to say as a six-year-old who has had 26 starts. He goes forward from the gate and will give them something to catch.

No3 CELLARMAN has been in brilliant form this time in and got a gun ride from Shinn to get the job done there. While the figures out of it were not great, he is drawn to get a gun run yet again and Shinn has a great record aboard him.

No11 NETTOYER (BEST ROUGHIE) should improve up in distance here and in a much easier race than she contested fresh. There were some good reports about her from the yard with how well that she looked and had come back. I expect her to run well.

No2 ALWARD gets a soft run on the map here fresh for Magorrian and may come back a better horse now that he has had the one preparation here. He has had the five of his wins at 2000m and this may well be too short, but he should finish off strong

VALUE RUNNER: No11 NETTOYER

R3 – 2.00pm. TAB Silver Slipper Stakes - 1100m.

No7 ESTIJAAB was utterly brilliant on debut when jumping and running them into the ground running some very good figures, she was then put at the top of the market at all 2yo features, she has trialled since in brilliant order and will jump and run from the gate and give them something to catch.

No1 NEUTRALITY in my view produced the second best 2yo win of the season when winning on debut at Rosehill when running them into the ground. He has had the two trials coming into this and from gate 6, Shinn will have no option to go forward and try to dominate. But with Estijaab and Sunlight there it may be tough.

No5 GONGS has been very good in winning both starts at the back end of 2017, so much so I said she was going to be hard in the Slipper, yet she comes out against a cracking field here and was held by Estijaab in the trial, not sure what to make of it.

No4 SUNLIGHT is our Golden Slipper fav, yet I do not give her a hope of winning it. The figures out of all of her wins have been nothing flash. Back her if you want to, but I can’t see her winning this. Let alone a slipper.

VALUE RUNNER: No1 NEUTRALITY

R4 – 2.35pm. Spark Of Life Handicap - 1100m.

No4 TREKKING has been trialing in good order coming into the fresh run here and didn’t have the best of luck last preparation when copping some bad rides and running into some very hot horses. He has been gelded coming into this and could well improve into that good horse he has always looked to be.

No2 I AM EXCITED resumes here and comes out of some very good horses and was just touched off in the spring by Jorda. She resumes here over the 1100m which looks to be quite suitable and she has trialled up in good order coming into this.

No1 WILD HEART has race fitness on his side which some of his opposition don’t and comes out of some very good races at the past few runs. From gate 10, Ford will roll across from the gate to try and slot in, and if he can, he is hard to beat.

No6 MARSUPIAL gets one last chance for me now that he has been gelded as he didn’t seem to be putting in at the end of his last prep. The trial coming into this has been quite good, and as I said, one last chance.

VALUE RUNNER: No2 I AM EXCITED

R5 – 3.10pm. Vinery Stud Millie Fox Stakes -1300m.

No4 PROMPT RESPONSE (BEST BET) has come back a better mare this time in and should be too good for them here, the mares she met last start will not be beating her, and the mares that resume don’t have the race fitness to match her late here, she gets a great run on the map behind the leaders and I can only see her improving second-up.

No1 EGG TART resumes here and I am completely forgetting her spring campaign where she had a few setbacks. This time last year she won five on end, including two Group 1s. 1300m likely to be short of her best but she will be steaming late.

No3 HEAVENS ABOVE should have won the Myer in the spring, and unfortunately that is two years in a row she should have won the race. She has trialled in ok enough style coming into this, her fresh record is average. But her Rosehill record is brilliant.

No5 DAYSEE DOOM resumes here and will be thereabouts as she always is, and has drawn a gate here which is something that she didn’t last time in. Her Rosehill record is impeccable and she should run well again.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 HEAVENS ABOVE

R6 – 3.45pm. Parramatta Advertiser Cup - 1900m.

No4 SINGING finds himself on top here in what is not the strongest race of all time. He has bolted up in his last three runs and looks to be a horse who is on his way to some of the better races this time of year. If he is ready, good luck beating him.

No3 AUVRAY warmed up late fresh over the 1600m and should be much better suited up to the 1900m here. Glyn off for another runner is a slight push towards Singing, but Bowman on, isn’t too bad of a replacement here and he will run well.

No1 SUPPLY AND DEMAND loomed up to win last start and just ran out of puff there as he had to bring the field up there. He sits just behind the speed here from barrier 1 here and gets a chance to breakthrough.

No9 CARZOFF was able to win last start and somehow break up the monotony of the Waller horses running against each other, he goes down in weight here and gets his chance to win again here.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 AUVRAY

R7 – 4.25pm. Chandon S Chic Easy Hobartville Stakes - 1400m.

No3 KEMENTARI (NEXT BEST BET) was utterly awesome when winning fresh at Warwick Farm, he trucked into the race brilliantly and blew them away in two strides running the best figures of the day there. If he has taken any improvement from that (which he looked like he would) he could well do the same again here. This race isn’t as good as over, but it well could be.

No9 D’ARGENTO is a very smart colt who has won at all three runs and done that in very good fashion, the win fresh was quite good and Bowman was “nice” to him in the run there. The trial since was quite good and he should well improve for that and be hard to beat here.

No4 PIERATA comes back after sweeping the QLD summer series, ended with an explosive win the Magic Millions Guineas. He now meets his biggest test to date here and has trialled quite well in the lead up here and has to be respected.

No8 ASSIMILATE will appreciate the bigger field and the step up in distance here. He closed off well enough behind Kementari fresh and gets a soft run here for Shinn from barrier 1 and could well charge over them late here.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 ASSIMILATE

R8 – 5.05pm. Schweppes Handicap - 1100m.

No10 FICKLE FOLLY blew them away last start running some very good figures there. The step up to 1100m here isn’t going to be a worry at all for her, and she gets a perfect run on the map just behind the speed here.

No4 MY FAVOURITE was quite good fresh behind Fickle Folly when closing off quite well, the step up to the 1100m is much more suitable here, but he may well run out of ground late. But he is a very good horse on his day.

No3 MEMES comes back well in grade here and has drawn the leaders gate in 9 here for King. I am not convinced at how she is going as the past two have been poor after a good fresh win, this will show how well she is going.

No13 PERIZADA won on natural ability alone fresh when carrying the apprentice and the big weight and running quite fast time for Canberra there. She has a very good second-up record and goes down 10kgs and gets Clark on from a good gate and will be hard to beat.

VALUE RUNNER: No13 PERIZADA

R9 – 5.45pm. Triple M Marquee Handicap - 1350m.

No7 BRATISLAVA was good when winning last start and did quite a good job there, he has had the trial since and has looked quite good in that trial. I see no reason as to why he cannot go on with it down the 2.5kgs.

No10 UP ‘N’ ROLLING resumes here and could finish over the top of them late, I think he is a fresh middle distance horse and didn’t really stay when Waller asked him last time in. The trial was quite soft and I want to see a betting move.

No11 DENPURR will win at a big price one day and I will have her in my quaddie until she either wins one or retires, she hasn’t had much luck in the past year and her Rosehill record is shocking, but she has drawn to get a soft run behind the speed here.

No6 DAGNY has had the one soft trial leading into this and was well supported in all runs last time in, which ended with a win over the 1350m. She gets a good run behind the speed here, and if the breaks come her way Avdulla will be all over them late.

VALUE RUNNER: No10 UP ‘N’ ROLLING
