Mudgee for Sunday meeting in New South Wales country region and we have the third Country Championships qualifier with a showcase meeting to boot, some good fields here on a track where all runners have their chance. Track good and rail true.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play:  1,2  -  1,2,3  -  2,3  -  1,7

Wide Play:  1,2,4,5 -  1,2,3,8  -  2,3,4,7  -  1,2,7

Next Best Bet: R1 – 7. PUPPET'S GIFT

Best Roughie: R5 – 4. JOHN

R1 – 12.55pm. Lion Maiden Showcase Plate - 1200m.

No7 PUPPET’S GIFT (NEXT BEST BET) looks to have been aimed at this race with the timing of the trial coming into the debut run at the home track, she looks to be a nice mare who is hard to beat here.

No2 CABRIERE was good enough on debut when closing off well enough, he should run well.

No5 FIRE FLIGHT has been ok enough in the short career and was good fresh when sitting on speed.

No3 DARK HAZE had to trial after running awfully last start in a good race, the form outside of that is good.

R2 – 1.35pm. Gooree Wines 10th Birthday Celebration BM65 Showcase Handicap - 1200m.

No4 ATTALEA was good when winning last start and has been in great form as of late.

No1 JOEY’S DESTINY is a smart conveyance, and has put together a good record over the short career, big weight not a worry.

No6 ART ‘N’ OLLIE resumes here, nothing seemed to go his way last time in and he is better than that.

No3 MOSS MY NAME has a very good record at the home track and was good fresh, expect improvement here.

R3 – 2.10pm. Robert Oatley Vineyards Benchmark 64 Showcase Handicap - 1600m.

No5 SACRED EDGE (BEST BET) comes out of a race which wasn’t run to suit last start and has done nothing but improve since joining the Cunningham yard, her and Hutchings are striking at 58 per-cent rides to winners. He gets a good run off the speed here and should be much too good.

No3 HANOVER SQUARE sits just behind the leaders here from the gate and should run well.

No2 COSMOLOGIST looks the likely leader here and has been in good form this time in.

No1 FREE TICKET has won well at the past two and has to step up here again with the big weight.

R4 – 2.45pm. TABCORP Holdings LTD Class 1 & Maiden Showcase Plate - 1600m.

No6 BULLETSON has been good in both starts and the step up to the maiden is suitable as he got too far back last start.

No12 SOMETHING SHOCKING should jump and run them along here. M Cahill is in brilliant form at the minute and gives her every chance.

No7 NICKLE closed off well to break the maiden last start, and will be running on again.

No5 MOUNT TAISHAN gets a good claim here and has to be given a chance.

R5 – 3.20pm. Club Mudgee Country Maiden Showcase Handicap - 1400m.

No1 SPREZZATURA gets a sticky run on the map here, but looks to have this lot covered despite having to give them all weight, do or die here.

No4 JOHN (BEST ROUGHIE) has been good in all starts and gets a chance to win here up to the 1400m.

No2 STUNNER comes out of the Sprezzatura race last start and I have to respect the formline.

No5 DESTINY IS WRITTEN comes out of a solid race last start and closed off well there, 1400m should suit.

R6 – 4.00pm. RACING NSW Benchmark 57 Showcase Handicap - 1400m.

No3 MISTRESS MACE should appreciate the step up in trip here and was good when winning last start.

No2 AMBITIOUS PRINCE comes down in grade here and should be fitter second-up.

No1 RAISE A DROP has been in great form this time in and needs to be considered.

No8 STAGGERING was a nice winner when breaking the maiden and looks well suited here.

R7 – 4.40pm. CDRA Country Championships Qualifier - 1400m.

No2 MOST EXALTED is the weight horse here given his benchmark against this field. He was a winner last start over Interlocuter (by protest) if he brings that form he wins.

No3 SCHEDULE should sit just behind the speed here and is at his best when he runs over 1400m.

No4 NOEL’S GIFT gets a great run on the map here and will be finishing off quite well here.

No7 PRINCE OF THEBES gets King Callow here and was strong when stepping to 1400m last start, he will run well again.

R8 – 5.20pm. Lawson Park Hotel Class 2 Showcase Handicap - 1200m.

No1 HIGH DIVE gets the blinkers on and a drop in weight, and sits off the pace and finishes off here.

No7 RISK AND REWARD smashed them when breaking the maiden last start and should be respected here.

No2 KING LEAR has been trialing well leading into this, wide gate of 14 a touch sticky and should run well regardless.

No6 FOXDOWN has a good record and resumes here with no trial. Ryan sits off them and charges late.
