Twilight racing heads to the beautiful Bendigo course on Wednesday evening for an eight-race card – of which there are four maidens.
There is not a lot of exposed form in the maidens but Chateau Griffo (Race 3) looks to have the form on the board and appears the best bet of those races.
With the blinkers going back on Go Down in the mypunter.com Handicap (1400m) and Brad Rawiller taking the reins she looks one of the best bets on the card.
Go Down loves Bendigo with an outstanding record of five starts for two wins and three placings and she is ideally drawn in gate two.
Sacred Sham looks a strong chance on his great win at Geelong two starts ago and he had no luck in running when finishing a close fourth as a heavily backed $1.95 favourite at Moonee Valley. Getting Damien Oliver to guide is a big plus to his chances in the Bendigo Mazda Sprint.
The false rail will be at two metres and the track is rated as a Good 4 (Monday). Fine weather should prevail.

No4 LIKE YOU LOOK with two runs over the distance is now primed. Latest ran a good third over 2227m in a maiden at Sale on February 20. Was at $18 but won’t be at those odds here with Jamie Mott to ride.
No3 HEGEMON ran on nicely to finish third over 2550m maiden at Pakenham on February 8. Was specked in the betting at $7.50 and is rock hard solid for this race with three runs over a journey. Looks a winning chance.

VALUE RUNNER: No2 COMICS
No4 CHESS STAR faces an unknown lot of first timers with not much form to access so makes it hard to calculate form here. He is from the top Sydney stable of Waterhouse and Bott and he did run a good second in a 745m trial at Randwick on January 29.
No1 AKKA’S METEOR won his trial in style over 800m at Cranbourne on February 18. The field was spread-eagled winning by 1.75 lengths with another 2 lengths back to the third horse. The wide alley in 14 is a setback.
No3 AURORA CHARM showed ability at debut to run a solid fourth over 1000m maiden at Warrnambool on February 7. Was specked in the betting at $4.60 and should take benefit from the effort. Has appeal.
No2 ANOTHER BIT showed plenty of raw speed to lead but did fade to finish fifth in a 1000m maiden at Moonee Valley on February 16. Won a trial over 800m at Cranbourne in the lead up to first-up effort. Can improve.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 ANOTHER BIT
No11 CHATEAU GRIFFO looks the best chance here on exposed form with three placings at four starts. Did trial well when she ran second in an 800m trial at Cranbourne on February 19. Should be ready first-up from a 24-week spell.
No2 SONAREE came in for support at two starts when finishing unplaced. Resumes from a six-week break following a seventh over 1000m maiden at Ballarat on January 16. Hails from the inform stable of Team Hayes.
No3 DARK NECESSITIES is having his first start for his new trainer and did show some form at Ipswich with a third over 800m maiden at his penultimate start on December 15. Well drawn in six and watch.
No9 HOW ONE KNOWS was placed second in a 1000m maiden at Ballarat last campaign. The four-year-old mare is resuming from a 20-week spell and her best run of four starts was when she was fresh over this trip.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 HOW ONE KNOWS
No5 INDRABEEL drops significantly in class on her last-start fifth over 1200m against fillies at Caulfield on January 17. Her past three starts have all been in Melbourne in a far higher grade where she has performed well without placing.

VALUE RUNNER: No10 PLAY THAT SONG
No2 BUT IT’S TRUE is from the leading stable of Darren Weir and has an impressive record of a win and a third from three starts fresh. Resuming here from a 27-week spell and comes out of city class racing to the bush.
No3 FAST TYCOON has had no luck from wide alleys when caught deep at two starts back from a spell. Has a superior alley in five and gets top rider Michael Walker replacing a 2kg claiming apprentice. Give another chance.
No6 TROJAN STORM prior form with a third and a win was top class before caught deep when running last of 11 over 1200m at Sandown on February 14. Top jockey Luke Currie again rides and would forgive his last start.
No5 STRINGER BELL is the stablemate to But It's True and gets top stable rider Brad Rawiller as his new rider after running seventh over 1200m at Colac on February 11. That was second-up from a spell and can improve.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 FAST TYCOON
No1 GO DOWN (NEXT BEST BET) looks well suited in this race and has the blinkers replacing the winkers. She loves this track with two wins, two seconds and a third at five starts. Finished on the heels of the major place-getters when running fifth over 1400m at Sandown on February 7. She is drawn perfectly in gate two and gets the strength of Brad Rawiller to ride on topweight on 61kg against her own sex.
No6 MISS ADEQUATE has been racing in splendid fashion and her last start Flemington second rates her highly.
No3 DEVILISHLY with Fred Kersley’s 2kg claim will carry 57.5kg and is well drawn in gate three.

VALUE RUNNER: No6 MISS ADEQUATE
No1 SACRED SHAM (BEST BET) was a brilliant 3.25 length winner over 1100m at Geelong two starts ago on January 28. Last start was heavily backed into a $1.95 favourite when having little luck in running to finish 1.95 lens fifth over 1000m at Moonee Valley on February 16. The four-year-old gelding will find this far easier and he gets top jockey Damien Oliver to partner from barrier five. Great chance.
No4 VALLIANO was placed in a trial at Wodonga and with Fred Kersley’s 2kg claim will carry 57.5kg first-up.
No2 SECRET PROPHET resuming from a 27-week spell and goes well fresh. Has the strength of Brad Rawiller to ride for Darren Weir.

VALUE RUNNER: No11 SHADOW FIGHTER
No15 BELLA MIA punters who took the favourite odds of $3.20 can get their money back here on her last start second over 1500m at Yarra Valley on February 10. Senior rider Beau Mertens replaces a 3kg apprentice and she only has 55kg.
No5 ALL HARD WOOD is a three-year-old who kicked off his career on a high with a fighting win over 1400m in a maiden at Sale on January 21. He gets top jockey Damien Oliver to ride and showed plenty of grit at debut.
No9 FILBERT WAY has finished either first or second at past three starts. Latest ran a strong second over 1400m at Wodonga on February 11. Apprentice Fred Kersley is the new rider and his 2kg claim reduces his weight to 56.5kg.
No3 SASSOON (BEST ROUGHIE) has not finished further back than fifth at past five starts and gets top jockey Michael Walker to steer. Latest ran a steady fifth over 1600m at Ballarat on February 16. Drops a half-kilo to 60kg and drawn in five.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 ALL HARD WOOD
