The Gold Coast to host a major Saturday meeting which has several feature races. There has been plenty of rain and the track is expected to be soft. But the wind can get up and the track can dry quickly so be on your guard. These meetings often provide big upsets so look for value.

No8 THE REAL BOSS (BEST BET) Very promising horse who has won both his starts at the provincial tracks in good fashion. Has a bad barrier but a 2kgs claim and looks very hard to beat.
No11 ADORADANCER Ran well against some top class horses last campaign and looks well placed here. Scratched Wednesday to run in this.
No1 MINI MELD Handy run over 1200m when fifth this track but has a much better record this track and distance.
No4 REDEX Smart short course horse who is resuming here. Has a good first-up record.

R2 - 12.42pm. McCain Food Group Benchmark 80 Hcp - 2200m.
No1 EXOTERIC Good fighting second to the in-form Morendi at Doomben last time when didn't want to go straight to the line. Gets a claim here in this easier race.
No3 IRISH OPTIMISM Has been plodding away in these type of races where he has been placed past two starts. Another with an each-way hope.
No2 XEBEC Record speaks for itself with three wins and 12 minor placings. Led to the shadows of the post at Doomben last time.
No6 COURT'S STAR Has been a while between wins abut form has been okay and might lead these which suits him.

R3 - 1.22pm. Crackerjack Barrel Benchmark 70 Hcp - 1300m.
No8 PREFERITO Won two races at the provincial tracks before very good third at Doomben last time. Well drawn and suited here.
No4 RICH AFFAIR Has been placed past two starts at Doomben in similar races to this. Has a 3kgs claim here and a good barrier.
No9 IL RICCIO Has always shown a heap of potential and back to his best with a runaway win at the Sunshine Coast last start. The barrier is the big worry.
No10 CHAR CHAR Probably should have won last time at the Sunshine Coast when second. This harder but has the top jockey and a good barrier.

R4 - 2.02pm. Simplot Food Services Three Year Old - 1800m.
No2 FULL DIAMOND Strong winner this track and distance in maiden company last start. This is a bit harder but not much harder.
No5 LE DRAMA Racing well at the Sunshine Coast where won two starts back and then second latest effort. This should suit.
No9 PONYTALES Strong winner at Ipswich last start and that indicated she would appreciate this trip.
No1 EPIC RANT Good Doomben winner two starts back and the forced to lead when run down and second on a bog track at Ipswich. This suits a lot better as should be able to get cover.

R5 - 2.42pm. Moco Food Services Gold Coast stakes - 1800m.
No3 DREAM FINNISH Finished strongly on the crown of the track to win over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast last start. This distance is perfect at this stage of her campaign.
No1 HONEY TOAST The 2016 Toowoomba Cup winner on the comeback trail who has had two recent starts. Fitter now and out to the right distance.
No10 WAR BABY (BEST ROUGHIE) Iron horse who has had 77 starts and won her 10th race this track last Saturday over 1300m. Loves wet tracks and suited this distance. Will still be big odds.
No6 CAPETOWN HUSSEY Finished very fast when second at Doomben last time at 1600m and has won this track and distance.
VALUE RUNNER: No 10 WAR BABY
R6 - 3.22pm. Jewel Two Year old - 1200m.
No3 MISHANI HUSTLER Won his only start at Doomben and has had a freshen up for this. Smart two-year-old who looks very hard to beat.
No9 PLUMARO Stormed home to win at Doomben last start to make it two wins and a second from three starts. Has a bad barrier but no real worry with her racing style.
No1 HOPES ETERNAL Honest galloper who is probably looking or further than 1200m but has class on his side. Resuming here from a Sunshine Coast third and does go well fresh.
No10 ACCOMPLISH Survived a protest to win at Toowoomba. She has raced in good company and not been disgraced. Each-way here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 HOPES ETERNAL
R7 - 4.02pm. Three Year Old Jewel Hcp - 1200m.
No2 JOHNNY WHITESOX Promising horse who was a strong winner at Doomben last start. No luck with the barriers but still a good hope here.
No1 UMBERTO Scratched last week to run here. Has been second at his past three starts and looks one of the main chances again.
No7 SKATE TO PARIS Got a mile back but stormed home to finish second to Johnny Whitesox at Doomben last start. Should be closer in the run here.
No5 CORAL BAY Well-bred galloper who is resuming here. Has a solid record and raced well at Randwick last campaign.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SKATE TO PARIS
R8 - 4.37pm. Carbine Club Goldmarket Hcp - 1200m.
No6 MALVERN ESTATE (NEXT BEST BET) Racing well and won four on end before last-start third at Doomben when had no luck. This will be run at a strong early pace which will suit him.
No2 UPSTART PRIDE Won this race last year and back in form with an all the way win at Doomben last start. Should lead here again.
No3 MAN OF HIS WORD Stakes class horse who is resuming here. Has never won first-up but has trialled well this time.
No8 SIR STATHAM Winner in stakes company in New Zealand. Has had no luck at all in four Australian starts including latest at Doomben. Overdue for some luck.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 SIR STATHAM
R9 - 5.15pm. Perfect Italiano Class 6 Plate - 1400m.
No3 MARTINELLI Led all of the way to win at Doomben last start and again has a 3kgs claim here from a good barrier. The one to beat.
No5 KARAKABEEL Ridden back in the field but stormed home to win last start at Doomben. This type of race is ideal now.
No7 PLUCKY GIRL Honest mare who likes this track and distance. Strong winner past two starts here and never out of a place this track. Just needs some luck from the barrier.
No10 COURTZA KING Always a chance these type of races and never far from the money. Another good second at Doomben last time.
