There are three absolute “good things” at Saturday’s Morphettville meeting so punters should jump in early to secure the best odds about Moghul Empire (Race 6), Whispering Brook (Race 7) and Lipstick Lover in the “lucky last”. Moghul Empire has emerged as one of the most exciting middle distance prospects to emerge from Adelaide in quite some time. He’s won his last two starts in commanding fashion and has the unique ability to force the pace early and finish off late. Whispering Brook added to her reputation as a brilliant young sprinter by blitzing her opposition first-up over 1200m at Moonee Valley on March 16. She has been kept nice and fresh since that effortless victory and the drop back to 1100m of Saturday’s Manihi Classic looks perfect. Lipstick Lover easily disposed of her opposition over 1600m at Sandown last start in the style of a horse destined to measure up to better company. She faces moderate opposition again on Saturday and should continue on her winning way. Here’s the tip: just take the all-up bet – Moghul Empire into Whispering Brook, all-up Lipstick Lover, and we should be laughing all the way to the bank!
Sunny conditions continue throughout the weekend, making for perfect weather at Morphettville on Saturday. The rail will be out 8-metres from the 1200m to the Winning Post which could prove to be an advantage for front-runners. The track should race as a Good4 surface.
