Ipswich (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 3.

Mon, 16 Apr, 9:58 AM

What can we say about Ipswich that we haven't already made very clear in recent weeks. As we warned Ipswich can develop a fast lane even without any rain. The rail is back in the true this week so it should play fairer. But really our best advice is to stick with the top jockeys who know the track bias after race 1.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play:  2,5,/2,12/1,7/8,12

Wide Play:  2,3,5,6/2,4,5,12/1,4,7,9/1,8,10,12

BEST BET: R3 - 1. Evolo

Next Best Bet:  R1 – 1. Unlikely Story

Best Roughie: R5 – 5. Miss Arabella

R1 - 12.33pm. City of Ipswich Maiden - 1000m.

No1 Unlikely Story (NEXT BEST BET) Had a long break after initial run when second behind a top class two-year-old in October 2016. Back from injury woes but has trialled well since and on his potential should win this.

No5 Speaking Bad First starter who has not had an official trial. The stable has a very good strike rate when it travels to Ipswich.

No8 Leopard Queen First starter who has had three trials to prepare for this. Deserves respect on latest trial effort.

*SCRATCHED* No7 CreateYour OwnLuck First starter who has not trialled in public. Is from a big betting stable so watch the market.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 Leopard Queen

R2 - 1.08pm. Weekend Racing Maiden Plate - 2150m.

No1 Kuiper Has run two good thirds in middle distance maidens at Doomben and the Gold Coast of late. This suits with a top jockey on board here.

No8 Alma Bubbles Getting close to a win with placings past two starts in similar races to this. Gets in very well at the weights after a claim.

No5 Thought Process Lightly raced and good second at Gold Coast two starts back before getting in wrong part of the track when fifth on a bog at Doomben last time.

No2 Sir Rotheway Plugger who battled away for second at the Gold Coast last start. Each-way here.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 Alma Bubbles

R3 - 1.43pm. Labour Day Racing Maiden - 1350m.

No1 Evolo (BEST BET) Promising type who trialled well before second this track at first start when appeared to be in the wrong going in the straight. This distance suits.

*SCRATCHED* No2 Our Red Jet Has run second at past two starts at Grafton and just needs some luck from tricky barrier to be in the finish.

No4 Perfect Witness Ran two fourths at only starts last year. Has trialled very well twice coming into this race.

No6 Lady Eighty Eight Never far away in these races but starting to get costly. Fourth this track after having no luck in this grade last time.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 Perfect Witness

R4 - 2.18pm. Free Family Fun Day Two Year Old Maiden Plate - 1350m.

No7 Pistolero We have gone for a first starter here over 1350m. But he as the top jockey and has trialled well including his latest effort.

No1 Champagne Garden Good second this track at only start earlier this year. We liked both his recent trials and has the rails here.

No4 Mishani Roman Hard to line up here on last start second this track when appeared to be in the "good lane". But has been consistent and this isn't overly strong.

No12 Julianne's Wish Has been placed this track and fourth in a far stronger race at Doomben recently. One of the better chances.

VALUE RUNNER: No12 Julianne's Wish

R5 - 2.53pm. Free Entry Class 3 Hcp - 1350m.

No2 Thunder Rocker Has had a few problems but strong win at Doomben last start in a far harder race makes him the one to beat here.

No5 Miss Arabella (BEST ROUGHIE) Will be better known as a stayer and first run from a spell ordinary. But has had a trial since and this type of race suits at this stage of her campaign.

No3 Il Riccio First two runs from a spell were outstanding and then nothing went right when put in a shocker at Doomben last time. Give another hope here.

No6 Skyscraper This is harder than last start Beaudesert win but can race on the pace and is pretty honest.

VALUE RUNNER: No5 Miss Arabella

R6 - 3.28pm. Legs and Eddies Day Class 3 Plate - 1000m.

No2 Ocean City Will be good odds here and resuming but has some handy races in far better company than this and has had a nice easy trial to get ready for come back.

No12 Hollydeen Racing well and won at Murwillumbah before last start Grafton second. Still down in the weights here.

No4 Truculent Travels all around the south east corner for his racing and while he doesn't win many is usually about the place. Has a good record this track.

No5 Redex Speedy and second to a tough horse last time at Dalby. Fitter now and ready to win at third run back from a spell.

VALUE RUNNER: No12 Hollydeen

R7 - 4.03pm. Channel 7 Bench Mark 65 Hcp - 1200m.

No1 Downloading He is entered in two races but expected to start here for comeback run. Well drawn with an apprentice's claim and has won twice first-up. No trial for return but smart on his day.

No7 District Has won two of three starts including latest at Dalby when overcame problems in the run. This harder but a horse on the rise.

No4 Rideonabigjetplane Very consistent before a spell and always races well this track without winning here. If he has luck can win this.

*SCRATCHED* No9 Mystic Moon Has been disappointing this time in but there have been excuses and back on a dry track here. Can improve sharply.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 District

R8 - 4.38pm. Queensland Times Benchmark 65 Hcp - 1666m.

No10 Sweet Adaline Has won only one race but second in tougher company at past three starts at Doomben. Surely she can win this.

*SCRATCHED* No12 Roman Doll Another ultra-consistent mare who just struggles to win but always worth an each-way ticket. No luck latest when fourth his track as she got into a bad part of the track.

No8 Lucky Jackson Has only won one race but shows plenty of ability. Trialled well before good first-up third and fitter now.

No1 Call The Captain Tough northern rivers galloper who has won two of past three runs there. Has a 3kgs claim which puts him in this race with a chance.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 Lucky Jackso
