Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 8.

Fri, 27 Apr, 8:00 AM

Some rain about in Brisbane early in the week but the track should be in the low soft range. Some top class horses making their Brisbane debut so be careful because some won't handle the track. Also stick to our policy of front runners until at least race four. For example front runners again won the majority of the first six races last week. It seems to be only when the track starts to chop up the back markers can come into their own.

QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny Play:  2,5/3,8/5/4

Wide Play:  2,3,5,13/3,7,8,12/1,3,4,5/4,5,7

BEST BET: R8 – 5. Supido

Next Best Bet:  R5 – 2. Only Wanna Sing

Best Roughie: R9 – 9. Tavistock Abbey

R1 - 11.22am. #BNERACES BenchMark 85 Handicap - 2030m.

SCRATCHED - No3 He Ekscels Winner twice early in this campaign and then good runs at Flemington and Cranbourne next two starts. On that form should nearly win this.

SCRATCHED - No2 Great Glen has been backed a couple of times this area since coming from Sydney and just behind the placegetters. This is weak so rates a chance here.

No4 Backhouse Billy Went to the lead in the middle stages and held on to win at the Sunshine Coast over 2200m last time. Has been very consistent.

No5 Queen Of Wands Has been getting better with racing and ran on well for third at the Sunshine Coast over 2200m last time. Suited back to this trip.

VALUE RUNNER: No5 Queen Of Wands

R2 - 11.57am. BECOME A BRC MEMBER Class 6 Handicap - 1050m.

No4 Bonsho Very smart and won three in a row before a spell when able to sit on the pace. No official trial and never won first-up but with a good barrier should get the run of the race here.

SCRATCHED - No7 In Good Time She is unbeaten in four start in NSW country areas where shows a lot of ability. The barrier is a nightmare from this start.

No3 Kings Of Leon Has very good Sydney form for a race like this. Hasn't started since August but has handy first-up record and has had two recent trials.

No1 Tan Tat Diamond Off the scene for a long time and resuming here. Has better form than most of these in previous campaigns. Has trialled twice for this comeback run.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 Kings Of Leon

R3 - 12.32pm. ASCOT GREEN Class 6 Plate - 1630m.

No7 Red Prince We have gone for value here because despite winning his past two starts in Toowoomba he is in much stronger company here. But he is well drawn and well weighted and is a horse on the up.

No2 Coldstone Flemington winner three runs back and last start had little luck when fifth at Bendigo in the Golden Mile. Down sharply in class but only problem is the query about first go clockwork way of racing.

No5 Happy Go Plucky Wyong winner last start and form is generally good for this. Stable never comes to Brisbane without a chance.

No3 Old Habits Has a bad habit of missing the start. Did it again at the Sunshine Coast but still scored a strong win finishing along the fence. Each-way here.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 Old Habits

R4 - 1.07pm. POWERING THE HAPPY BenchMark 75 Handicap - 1200m.

SCRATCHED - No7 Eminent Is a promising young horse who has won first-up. Resuming from an unlucky second this track in December. Looks very well placed here.

No9 Rock Spur Caught the eye when sixth in a shorter race this track last week. Interesting the top jockey has taken the ride.

No11 Muddy Rope Won two races on end at the midweeks and then didn't handle the wet track when well beaten in a similar race to this last time. Back on a dry track the key.

No4 Quick Ketch Has had his share of problems but bobs up to win every now and again. Showed he was on the right track with good fourth this track and class last time.

No2 Only Wanna Sing (NEXT BEST BET) Very promising two-year-old who didn't handle the conditions but still second here at his last start. Back to set weights here and has had a slight set back but trialled very strongly last week. The one to beat.

No1 Mishani Hustler Is another most promising horse who led all the way from an outside barrier to win this track at his last start. Sure to be on the pace here. Has won three of four starts.

SCRATCHED - No3 Orcein Still a maiden but was a good fourth this track in stakes company before a spell. Has had two trials for this winning one at Rosehill.

No8 Racecourse Road Well-bred youngster who won only start at the Sunshine Coast in most impressive style. Respect here.

R6 - 2.22pm. MAKERS MARK QTIS Three-Years-Old Plate - 1350m.

No2 Mishani Bullitt Stormed home from near last to win first-up at the Sunshine Coast. Has always had a touch of class and looks very hard to beat again.

No3 Marsupial From the powerful Godolphin stable and winner at Warwick Farm last start. Consistent in easier races in NSW.

No13 Femme Fireball In wrong part of the track when fifth at the Sunshine Coast last time but still a very good run. Promising and just has to overcome the bad barrier.

No5 Love And Rock It Forget last start when caught in the wrong part of the track at the Sunshine Coast and go on previous strong form which was two wins and a second.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 Marsupial

No7 Another Dollar Emphasised her ability when she beat older mares at Toowoomba at her fourth race start. Promising filly who has a tricky barrier but chance here.

No3 Improvise Finished very hard to win a good three year old stakes race at the Sunshine Coast over 1600m. This smaller track a worry but is handy.

No12 Play That Song Racing well in Victoria and NSW bit in easer races and a last start Newcastle winner. This far harder but does have a lovely barrier draw.

No8 La Scopa Was racing well at the northern rives meetings before last start second over 1600m in a stakes race at the Sunshine Coast. Another with a bad barrier.

No5 Supido (BEST BET) Hasn't run a place at three runs from a spell but has been just behind the placegetters in Group 1 races. Down in class here and has an ideal barrier draw. The one to beat.

No1 Impending Won the Stradbroke Hcp this track last year and hasn't run since being third in the Group 1 Darley Classic. Has trialled very well and the obvious danger.

No3 Most Important Probably the best sprinter in Queensland and does like this track where he has won four times. Trialled brilliantly recently and although not suited at the weights very hard to beat.

No4 Monsieur Gustave A most improved galloper who won four stakes races last campaign. Has won twice first-up and had a solid trail recently.

VALUE RUNNER: No 3 Most Important

No7 Zofonic Dancer Had no luck at all when third in the Toowoomba Guineas. Is a very promising horse and on the road to the Queensland Derby.

No4 Hang Tough gelding who won the Toowoomba Guineas at his last start to make it four in from his past five starts. This is his hardest race to date but promising.

SCRATCHED - No3 Sambro Has raced well in some good southern races including a second in the Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington. Two recent runs solid and third in a Warwick Farm trial last week.

SCRATCHED - No9 Tavistock Abbey (BEST ROUGHIE) Will be big odds here as recent Victorian form only fair. But is a Flemington winner and we did like his recent Deagon trial winner.

VALUE RUNNER: No9 Tavistock Abbey
