Thursday Racing Tips - 3rd May
It’s all the W’s with three tracks across NSW and Victoria dominating racing this afternoon.
It’s the last day of the outstanding carnival from Warrnambool but that isn’t the only highlight of the day as Wagga’s showcase two-day extravaganza commences this afternoon. Not to be outdone, there are some nice races to punt on from Wyong too.
Warrnambool will race on a Soft 6 with the rail out 4m from 1300m-300m and true the remainder
Wyong races on a Good 3 with the rail in the true position.
Wagga has a Good 3 with the rail in the true position.
Race 3 (Wagga)- 1:35pm NSW Racehorse Owners Assoc Maiden Showcase Handicap 1400m
XAARFOXYLADY is set to appreciate a slightly easier assignment after running good races without winning at Wyong, Kembla and Hawkesbury. Has drawn barrier two and is likely to lead just like it did last start. She did finish fourth last start at Hawkesbury but the first three across the line have all gone on to place again in subsequent starts. We also like that Corey Brown has been booked for the ride this time around.
Race 6 (Wyong) – 3:10pm HMA Geotechnical CG&E Benchmark 65 Handicap 1100m
SCRATCHED - SEDITION (BEST BET) looks a nice way to get some cash at Wyong. The talented three-year-old is dropping a fair way in class from his last start second at Warwick Farm where he was forced to sit outside the leader for most of the trip. Only the smart filly Warranty was able to overhaul him late and he was heavily supported on that occasion, so where’s there’s smoke there is fire. To date, his only career win has been on soft going and that is what he gets here.
Race 9 (Warrnambool) – 3:55pm Sungold Milk Warrnambool Cup 2350m
If you took the shorts about KIWIA (NEXT BEST) last start and are still trying to get over it, well now could your chance to get that money back. The Darren Weir runner was a tragedy beaten at Caulfield on April 21, struggling to find clear running until the race was all over. Now he is $3.20 to take out the Cup. He is a classy customer, has won on wet before and is trained by the master – what else do you want? With three runs back from a spell under his belt he should be at peak fitness and ready to win.
