Monday Racing Tips - 7th May
We’ve come up with three nice selections for the day spanning Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Local trainer Matthew Dunn has a nice one going around early at Murwillumbah that we think will get the cash. That will hopefully set us up for races at Ipswich and Wangaratta later in the day with the Victorian circuit the venue for our Best Bet of the afternoon.
Murwillumbah is a Soft 6 with the rail in the true position the entire circuit.
Ipswich is a Good 4 with the rail in the true position the entire circuit.
Race 2 (Murwillumbah) – 1:25pm Moo Moo Roadhouse Mooball Cup 1530m
We think EAT MY TRUST is worth a ticket in this race. He comes into this second-up and has excellent stats when racing at that stage of his preparation. The Soft 6 won’t concern the gelding either as three of his four career wins have been on similar surfaces. He drops in class for this race and his ninth first-up at Doomben wasn’t too bad behind River Racer and Mr Marbellouz as he raced towards the rear of the field throughout and made up steady ground without ever threatening. Has come up with barrier five for trainer Matty Dunn and is our on top selection today.
Race 2 (Ipswich) – 1:37pm CFMEU Mining & Energy Cup Winter Prov. Stayers (Heat) BM75 Handicap 2150m
We think DARBADAR is worth a ticket here. The Michael Lakey runner is dropping 3kgs from his last outing where he made up good ground at Ipswich over 2200m. Granted, it was in much easier company but he was a significant firmer late in the betting that day. The small field will suit here and that negates the barrier (7). One of the big positives is the appointment of Jeff Lloyd as Darbadar has had apprentices riding him his past three starts. The good track also plays in his favour as all three of his career runs have come on similar surfaces.
