Thursday Racing Tips - 10th May
We’ve done the form and come up with a trio of horses we think are knocking on the door for a win.
We have come up with three selections across three States for you today. Ranging from maiden class to far more competitive company, these horses appear set to run huge races today in their respective assignments.
Echuca is a Soft 5 with the rail out 3m from the 1000m to 400m and then true the remainder.
Pinjarra is a Good 4 with the rail out 5m the entire circuit.
Hawkesbury is a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.
Race 1 (Hawkesbury) – 12:20pm J.K Williams Contracting 3YO Maiden Handicap 1600m
AFRICAN ACADEMY (BEST BET) could be ready to break his maiden in the opening event. The Turffontein colt was tough after sitting outside Sazavee at Randwick on April 28 to only be beaten two lengths by Stryke Rock in winding up third. That was over 1400m and the extra distance appears as though it will suit him. Two starts back he found the line nicely over 1200m at Newcastle. Looks ready for the mile now and the good track suits.
Race 5 (Echuca) – 3:00pm Echuca Newsagency BM58 Handicap 2124m
BLUE JANGLES ran a great race at huge odds last start and is one to follow here. The six-year-old has to carry 61kgs over the journey but going off his last start is definitely capable of doing it. Blue Jangles was forced to make his run a little early in the Gold Heath at Caulfield and after hitting the front of the turn, was swamped over the concluding stages to finish eighth beaten 3.5 lengths by Self Sense. That form has turned out to be sensational as Self Sense then ran second to Life Less Ordinary in the Wagga Cup.
Race 7 (Pinjarra) – 6:45pm SKYRACING.TV Provincial Championship Series Heat 1200m
The interesting horse in this race is MODEL DRAGON. She is the class runner of the field having beaten city class mares Scratchy Lass and Sullivan Bay 12 months ago before competing in a couple of features and a Listed race at Morphettville. She hasn’t raced since October but warmed up for this with two trials with the latest of those a close third to Ascot 1000 Guineas winner, Awaken. Model Dragon has won twice previously first-up and gets the benefit of Brodie Kirby’s 3kg claim to carry 56kgs. Well worth an investment.
