Friday Racing Tips - 11th May
Scone is the main meeting of the day and after doing the form we have three great picks for today.
It’s the Scone Cup carnival and we have some great selections for day one of the carnival. We have left it late in the program to find you three horses to follow but each one of them is set for a big race and with any luck will be figuring in the finish.
Scone is racing on a Good 4 with the rail in the true position.
Race 6 (Scone) – 3:20pm Turangga Farm Class 2 Handicap 1300m
CHALK is drawn handily and is ready to run a big race. The Wendy Roche-trained gelding has been luckless in two runs back from a spell but from barrier two is sure to be given a good run by Aaron Bullock. Forget he went around last start as he was three and four-wide the trip while on resuming he was three-deep but still had the audacity to challenge Marble in the straight before tiring to fourth. Each-way all day!
Race 7 (Scone) – 4:00pm Darley Scone Cup 1600m
We are prepared to give SEDANZER another chance here. The talented mare started favourite in the Godolphin Crown at Hawkesbury when resuming but despite a charmed run behind the leader, couldn’t quicken when asked. The Waterhouse & Bott runner has excellent second-up stats and is unbeaten in all three runs at that stage of her preparation. She is set to benefit from having just 53.5kgs on her back and the Good track definitely favours her. From barrier five she is worth backing up on.
Race 8 (Scone) – 4:40pm Pryde’s Easifeed Noel Leckie Country Cup BM 85 Handicap 1400m
MY TAGOSON is due for a change of luck. The gelding has been clashing heads with some outstanding performers outside the metro scene including Don’t Give A Damn and Victorem who he met throughout the Country Championships series. He was then sixth to Up ‘N’ Rolling at Hawkesbury last time out but made up good ground over the concluding stages after racing well back. Robert Thompson sticks and with just 54.5kgs to carry is definitely worth a ticket despite coming up with gate 11.
