Thursday Racing Tips - 17th May
We’ve got three great selections for you today including one that is busting to win a race!
We have two outstanding bets at Kembla Grange today and both are out of champion stables being prepared by James Cummings and Team Hawkes. Cairns is the destination for our other tip of the day and it will be a scamper!
Kembla Grange is a Good 3 with the rail out 3m from the 1100m to the winning position. True the remainder.
Cairns is a Good 4 with the rail out true the entire course.
Race 3 (Cairns) – 2:25pm Thomas Dental QTIS Two and Three –Year-Old Maiden Handicap 870m
Lightly raced gelding ME AND MY DRUM is resuming from a spell but showed promise last preparation to go close to breaking through here today. Beaten by 1.2 lengths at Townsville back in December when coming home strong from a midfield position. Has drawn a tad wide but can use his good gate speed and settle with the leaders or roll forward and take the lead. Has a good record over the distance and sure to be in this for a long way. Looks well placed and will have plenty admirers here today. Top chance.
Race 6 (Kembla Grange) – 3:20pm Dean Industrial Pty Ltd Benchmark 65 Handicap 1200m
Out of the Golden Slipper winning Hawkes stable, PALLADIAN (BEST BET) has looked impressive since resuming from a spell and sure to strip fitter third-up here today. Over-raced in the early stages before settling on the rails and coming home strong to just fail to reel in the winner at Randwick (Inner) a month ago, beaten by less than a length. Has been freshened up for this and drawn to settle just behind the speed and get a good run in transit. Will need some luck in the straight but if the gaps appear watch out as he has a good turn of foot and will be coming home hard. Will appreciate this class drop and looks the one they all need to beat.
Race 2 (Kembla Grange) – 12:50pm Nimaka Pty Ltd Maiden Plate 1600m
*SCRATCHED* ERUDITION looked okay on her debut at Wyong a fortnight ago and is placed to be very competitive here today. Settled near the rear before coming home well to be beaten by 3.2 lengths last start and sure to strip fitter second-up. Out of the astute Godolphin stable with in-form Jockey Tim Clarke taking the reins so we expect a huge run by this Poet’s Voice filly. Looks to have found a very winnable race and looks ready to breakthrough. Drawn to get the run of the race.
