Werribee and Canberra have caught our eye today and we think we have found three good things to have a crack at. The Victorian circuit has two horses we think are nice progressive types while our selection at Canberra is aiming at a hat-trick of wins.
Werribee is a Soft 7 with the rail out 7m the entire circuit.
Canberra is racing on the synthetic with the rail in the true position.
Lightly raced gelding BALANSA (BEST BET) will be looking to make it three on the trot here today and going by his recent form he looks hard to go past. Settled with the leaders before running away to an ultra-impressive 4.4 length victory at Wagga a fortnight ago. Won by 3.9 lengths at Canberra the start before so he is flying and ready to go. Drawn perfectly and shapes as the one they all need to run down. Has the form and looks well placed to rack up the hat-trick of victories. Commands serious respect.
RIVER JEWEL will strip fitter and can atone for her last start defeat at Pakenham a fortnight ago. Leading for most of the trip on that occasion, she only got tired in the final stages to finish a length from the winner. Has drawn a good gate today which should see her up near the lead and will definitely prove hard to go past, especially if she gets away with cheap mid-race sectionals. Apprentice claims 1.5kgs which is a bonus as this Snitzel Filly looks perfectly placed to return into the winner’s circle here today.
SHOTGUN ROSIE looked ultra-impressive at her debut and can make it back-to-back victories to kick start her racing career. Settled just behind the speed before looming large around the bend to run away to a dominant 1.3 length victory at Mornington a fortnight ago. Goes up in class but looks well placed to be very competitive and with jockey Jamie Mott retaining the ride, we are very confident she will run another huge race here today. Could be a filly with a bright future. Hard to go past.
