Punters are faced with a tricky nine-race card but our best bet of the day looks like he will relish the Heavy conditions. Jungle Edge, for trainer Mick Bell, absolutely laps up the wet as he showed us last start.
Looks as though we are racing on a Heavy 9 with the rail out 6m the entire.
QUADDIE PICKS ( 6-7-8-9):
2,3,4,7,9 – 1,2,6,7 – 2,3,6,10,13 – 1,3,6,7,9
DIO D’ORO looked impressive when breaking through for his maiden victory on this track a fortnight ago and can go on with it now. Settled near the rear before coming home strong to win by 2.4 lengths in a dominant display and will look to do similar here. Drawn perfectly and loves the wet. Big chance.
1st: No1 DIO D’ORO 2nd: No4 Beidi; 3rd: No7 Knight Arrow 4th: No5 Kings Trust
Ultra-consistent gelding EASY EDDIE looked impressive last start and can make it successive victories here today. Gave his rivals a galloping lesson when running away to a dominant four length victory at Randwick a fortnight ago. Has drawn well and will look to take a forward spot and lead or take a sit if they go too quick in the early stages of the races. Will be in this for a long way.
1st: No1 EASY EDDIE 2nd: No5 Island Missile; 3rd: No2 Revenire; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No3 Smartedge
ONLY TIGER is racing in great form and looks well placed to rack up the hat-trick of victories here today. Has won his past two on a Heavy track so this rain affected surface plays into his hands. Winning form is good form and he will be fighting the finish out once again. Rates well and loves the sting out of the ground.
1st: No5 ONLY TIGER 2nd: No6 Mornington; 3rd: No4 Plymouth Road; 4th: No8 Spooky Wooky
Going for MY BLUE JEANS to go back-to-back in the Highways especially since the surface is in the Heavy range. The Danny Williams runner was strong over 1500m at Rosehill last week and despite the quick back up, is worth having something on. Relished the Heavy last week and is suit once again by the wet track.
1st: No1 MY BLUE JEANS 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No2 Tim’s Principal; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No3 Magic Choir; 4th: No5 Go The Gantry
Ultra-consistent gelding SPECIAL MISSILE looks hard to go past and looks ready to bounce back into the winners circle after a few recent placings here today. Looked the winner only to be run down in the latter stages when beaten by less than a length at Rosehill a fortnight ago by Sir Bacchus. Can atone for that narrow defeat and is the clear top pick of the race. Big show expected.
1st: No4 SPECIAL MISSILE 2nd: No2 Mighty Lucky; 3rd: No1 Sons Of John; 4th: No6 Karavali
FILOMENA’S GRACE proved too nippy when leading from go to whoa at Canterbury a fortnight ago and can take the next step up in grade here today. Has drawn well so look for this mare to go straight to the front and be the one they all need to run down despite the class rise. Could be value and is a solid each way selection.
1st: No9 FILOMENA’S GRACE 2nd: No4 Star Reflection; 3rd: No3 Medaille; 4th: No2 Philosophy
JUNGLE EDGE (BEST BET) loves the wet and led throughout a fortnight ago and can reproduce a similar result in this race. Had 1.4 lengths to spare at the finish of the June Stakes last time out, beating the fast-finishing Shiraz who he meets again here. Has drawn perfectly and will take plenty of beating in this very winnable event. Perfectly placed and the one they all need to run down. Leading contender.
1st: No1 JUNGLE EDGE 2nd: No2 Shiraz; 3rd: No6 Faraway Town; 4th: No7 Crafty Cop
HIGH MIST won by the narrowest of margins last start but showed great fight and can go back-to-back here. Excels on a rain affected track so these conditions should be to his liking. Drops in weight and happy to be sticking with him here today despite the harder assignment.
1st: No3 HIGH MIST 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No10 Hypnotist; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No13 Like A Shot; 4th: No2 Francesco
Lightly raced filly BANDIPUR (NEXT BEST) has missed a placing just once from seven starts to date and is sure to be very competitive in the final event of the program here today. Resuming from a break but has had the benefits of a few trials, the latest of those on June 12 where he won. Drawn wide but could be an advantage depending on how the tracks plays.
1st: No1 BANDIPUR 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No6 Niccolance; 3rd: No3 Noble Joey; 4th: No7 Removal
