Saturday Racing Previews & Tips - Flemington 7th July

Darren Weir is the man for us today as he saddles up our best bet at Flemington which looks perfectly placed.

Thu, 5 Jul, 11:00 PM

Looks to be another big day for trainer Darren Weir as he clearly leads the premiership and can add another few winners to his tally today. Our best bet won with authority last start and we can expect the same from this superstar in the making.

Flemington is racing on a Good 3 with the rail TRUE the entire circuit.

R6: 2,5,7,12

R7: 1

R8: 6,8,10

R9: 3,4,7,8,9

Flemington Race 1 - 11:50AM Rivette Series Final (1600 METRES)

MINTHA looked unlucky at Mooney Valley last start and looks well placed to take out the opening event at Flemington today. Took the lead and looked home only for her run to peak in the final hundred metres to go down by less than a length. Beaten by a nose on this track two starts back. Rates well.

1st: No4 MINTHA; 2nd: No3 Ice Girl; 3rd: No1 Casa De Lago; 4th: No2 Elle Gagne

Flemington Race 2 - 12:25PM VRC-CRV Cup Tour Trophy (2000 METRES)

The Darren Weir-trained SIXTIES GROOVE is on a seven-day back-up and can atone for its last start narrow defeat here today. Made steady ground when weaving between runners and looked the winner at one point before going down narrowly to stablemate Pacodali. Looks to have found the right race here and shapes as the one they will all need to beat. Should be too good for this lot.

1st: No5 SIXTIES GROOVE; 2nd:  No2 Bondeiger; 3rd: No3 Grand Dreamer; 4th: No9 Not To Know

Flemington Race 3 - 1:00PM Leilani Series Final (1400 METRES)

HUSSY’S GLOW (NEXT BEST BET) can go one better than last start. Beaten by a nose on this track last start when storming home down the outside and shapes as a main player in this very winnable race. Drawn to get the run of the race and can atone for its last start narrow defeat. Did win well at Morphettville two starts back. Look for her storming home late. Small field will suit.

1st: No4 HUSSY’S GLOW; 2nd: No5 Sharing; 3rd: No7 Dreams Of Paris; 4th: No1 Miss Gunpowder

Flemington Race 4 - 1:35PM Silver Bowl Series Final (1600 METRES)

MOUNT KILCOY is lightly raced and has yet to miss a place from his three starts to date. Had a few issues in the running when trying to find clear galloping room but stormed home in the final furlong to be beaten by 1.2 lengths on this track last time out. Will relish the big long straight and looks perfectly placed to return into the winner’s circle here today. Trainer and jockey have a great strike rate when combining. Key player.

1st: No4 MOUNT KILCOY; 2nd: No3 Remember the Name; 3rd: No2 Mr Money Bags; 4th: No1 Gaulois

Flemington Race 5 - 2:10PM Taj Rossi Series Final (1600 METRES)

Sticking with the lightly raced GOOD ‘N’ FAST to make it successive victories after a strong win on this track a fortnight ago. Settled wide but proved too good for his rivals when taking over in the last hundred metres to win by half a length. Was well backed last time out and is drawn well (3) to be prominent again. Serious player.

1st: No1 GOOD ‘N’ FAST; 2nd: No3 British Medium; 3rd: No5 Pedicel; 4th: No9 Made Me Shiver

Flemington Race 6 - 2:50PM Banjo Paterson Series Final (2600 METRES)

BIG HAMMER looked impressive when storming home late to be narrowly beaten at Morphettville last start and looks as a winning hope in this open event. Has drawn a tad wide so look for him to settle near the rear and be saved for one big crack at them in the long straight. Win won’t shock.

1st: No10 BIG HAMMER; 2nd: No12 Wells; 3rd: No7 Falago; 4th: No5 Choysa

Flemington Race 7 - 3:30PM A.R. Creswick Series Final (1200 METRES)

NATURE STRIP (BEST BET) gave his rivals a galloping lesson when strolling to a dominant 4.5 length victory on this track last start. A horse with some serious speed that will once again prove hard to run down. Sticking with the Weir trained gelding to prove too slick for his opponents and can go onto to bigger things in the future. Star in the making.

1st: No1 NATURE STRIP; 2nd: No6 Sun Quan; 3rd: No11 Layel; 4th: No5 I Am Someone

Flemington Race 8 - 4:10PM VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final (1600 METRES)

COOL CHAP looked to have more in the tank when finishing 2.2 lengths behind the winner on this track last start and shapes as a main contender. Did race in some handy races last preparation so the talent is there. Will need a touch of luck but can break through and could start at value. Has a great record on the track and over the distance. Good chance in an open affair

1st: No8 COOL CHAP; 2nd: No10 Magic Consol; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No11 Raw Impulse; 4th: No6 Ozi Choice

Flemington Race 9 - 4:40PM Seppelt Wines Victorian Sprint Series Final (1200 METRES)

DIVINE QUALITY is as consistent as they come and she looks perfectly placed to take out the final event. Narrowly beaten on this track last start when running on strong in just failing to reel in the leader. Drawn to get the run of the race and has the form to give this an almighty shake. Top chance.

1st: No8 DIVINE QUALITY; 2nd: No4 Camdus; 3rd: No7 Just Hifalutin; 4th: No3 Husson Eagle
