Wednesday Racing Previews & Tips - Sandown 11th July

Darren Weir is the man for us today as he saddles up our best bet at Sandown which looks perfectly placed.

Tue, 10 Jul, 12:00 AM

Open program with plenty of chances but it does look like it could be another winning day for trainer Darren Weir, who clearly leads the premiership and broke his record for most winners on the weekend.

Sandown is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail True the entire circuit.

R5: 3,6,8,11

R6: 1,2,3,8

R7: 9,10

R8: 1,6,9,14

Sandown Race 1 - 12:15PM Ladbrokes Protest Payout Handicap (1400 METRES)

BRICKTOP was beaten by 4 lengths at Caulfield last start but will appreciate this grade and can take out the opening event of the program here today. Ran into the smart Toni Nicconi last time out but still finished a respectable third. Will strip fitter third-up and looks well placed poised to strike. Key player.

1st: No3 BRICKTOP; 2nd: No10 So You Swing; 3rd: No6 Galway; 4th: No12 Darma Sun

Ciaron Maher runner CATARACTA is drawn to get the run of the race and will strip fitter second-up here today. Fought hard only to go down right on the line at Sale on debut behind The Queens Regent and looks ready to break through. Serious player.

Sandown Race 3 - 1:25PM Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1200 METRES)

Open race with plenty of chances but sticking with GOLDEN KEY who looked unlucky at Mooney Valley last start and looks poised to atone for that narrow defeat. Drawn well and will be the one storming home late and will get the benefit of Stephanie Thornton’s 2kg claim. Big show expected.

1st: No5 GOLDEN KEY; 2nd: No7 Gold Mag; 3rd: No12 Outback Warrior; 4th: No4 The Mayor

Sandown Race 4 - 2:00PM Handicap (2100 METRES)

THUNDER CLOUD (BEST BET) is an ultra-consistent galloper out of the astute Darren Weir stable and looks hard to go past here. Was heavily backed last start and ran on strong when beaten by half a length by Brigadier at Mooney Valley last start. Go on his 1.8 length victory at Sale two starts back when proving too classy for his rivals. Serious chance.

1st: No2 THUNDER CLOUD; 2nd: No7 Tiger Tim; 3rd: No6 The Thug; 4th: No3 Hardern

Sandown Race 5 - 2:35PM Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (2100 METRES)

Sticking with ALMALITA who will lead and prove hard to beat despite the wide draw she faces here today. Has a good record on a Soft surface and will appreciate the weight claim (2kg) from Zac Spain. Looks fit and ready to fire and happy to give her one more chance in this very winnable event.

1st: No3 ALMALITA; 2nd: No11 Tiffany’s Lass; 3rd: No8 Henpecker; 4th: No6 Street Spun

Sandown Race 6 - 3:10PM Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap (1600 METRES)

PRIA ECLIPSE looked impressive when storming home late to be narrowly beaten on this track last start and is ready to gone better. Has drawn to get the run of the race from barrier one and only has to carry 54kgs. She will be the one finishing off hard. Rates well.

Sandown Race 7 - 3:50PM Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1600 METRES)

ROYAL MUSIC is looking to rack up the hat-trick after two impressive last start victories and will be in this for a long way. Drawn well and sure to be fit and ready to fire today. Stable and jockey have a great strike rate when combining and look extremely hard to beat. Danger.

1st: *SCRATCHED* No14 ROYAL MUSIC; 2nd: No9 Haripour; 3rd: No10 Krusty; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No15 Linguist

Sandown Race 8 - 4:30PM Ladbrokes Multiverse Handicap (1200 METRES)

Street Cry gelding out of the astute Godolphin stable, DEMOLITION looks well placed here to take out the final event of the program. Ran second at Mooney Valley last start behind Nordic Empire and we will look for it to atone for that defeat today. Found Nordic Empire too good also when first-up from a spell. Now third-up, should be ready to fire!

1st: *SCRATCHED* No2 DEMOLITION; 2nd: No14 Izenashark; 3rd: No6 Seven Year Reward; 4th: No9 Canelo
