Racing returns to Royal Randwick in what looks a great event on the program here today. Our top selections stormed home last start to salute and we expect a similar performance once again.
Randwick is racing on a Good with the rail True.
Tricky race to start the program, but we will stay with the unbeaten Kris Lees’ trained THE TENOR who won well on debut to take out the Rosebud Prelude for the babies here today. Led and proved too good when defeating Don't Doubt Arthur by 2 lengths at Newcastle a fortnight ago. Leading Sydney Jockey Avdulla sticks with him which is a huge bonus.
1st: No4 THE TENOR; 2nd: No1 Plague Stone; 3rd: No5 Witherspoon; 4th: No3 Monte Ditto
NICCONITA is racing in great form and she has drawn to be very competitive in today’s Highway Handicap over 1400m. Beaten narrowly by Highway Sixtysix on this track last start, she will be looking to atone that narrow defeat here today. Hard to beat.
1st: No8 NICCONITA; 2nd: No3 Cliff; 3rd: No4 Prince of Thebes; 4th: No7 Butchoy
Chris Waller trained gelding OMBUDSMAN (NEXT BEST BET) looked good when defeating Only Tiger by 1.8 lengths on this track a fortnight back and can make it successive victories here today. Might look to settle near the rear of this very small field, but has a good turn of foot and will be the one rattling home late in the straight. Big Danger.
1st: No6 OMBUDSMAN; 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No2 Mongolian Wolf; 3rd: No1 Grey Lion; 4th: No4 Braces
LA CHICA BELLA looked good when defeating Sepoy Acheva by half a length on this track last start and this mare has drawn to be a winning hope once again. Is unbeaten over the distance and once again shapes as a major player down in the weights. Looks well-placed to make it two in a row.
1st: No10 LA CHICA BELLA; 2nd: No6 Dougie; 3rd: No3 Dagny; 4th: No8 Gresham
The lightly raced Joe Pride Filly ORIA was beaten by half a length by Seahampton last start and can atone for that defeat here today. Hasn’t tasted victory since saluting at Hawkesbury back in April, but she very competitive which sees her in with a huge chance here today. Looks well-placed in a big field.
1st: No15 ORIA; 2nd: No13 Bella Success; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No10 Dancers; 4th: No9 Seaglass
SEAHAMPTON (BEST BET) flew home to get the victory on this track last start defeating Excelsior and could start the favourite based on that victory here today. Blake Shinn will settle him near the rear and hope to weave some magic finding those gaps to appear when hitting the straight. If he does, watch out, as this horse has a superb turn of foot and will be rushing at the leaders late. Big show expected
1st: No8 SEAHAMPTON; 2nd: No7 Nicci’s Gold; 3rd: No11 Sepoy Acheva; 4th: No5 Allez Bien
Drawn to get the run of the race, I THOUGHT SO will be looking to make it successive victories after proving too good for his rivals defeating Jungle Edge by 1.5 lengths on this track a month back. Has had a month break and is sure to be very competitive once again. Ticks all the boxes and looks a serious player on a track he enjoys racing over.
1st: No3 I THOUGHT SO; 2nd: No1 Boss Lane; 3rd: No2 Embley; 4th: No5 Sir Plush
BANDIPUR looked very unlucky when beaten by roughie Noble Joey by a short margin on this track last start and shapes as a serious chance in the Sprint over 1100m. Raced in some handy races last preparation, defeating the likes of I Did It Again and Kings Authority back in September. Looks well-placed and will prove hard to beat.
1st: No3 BANDIPUR; 2nd: No6 Wanna Get a What; 3rd: No7 Junglized; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No4 Single Bullet
REDOUBLE found one better when beaten by Philosophy on this track last start but looks as a serious hope in the final event of the program here today. Will be rock hard fit, ready to fire and ready to win. Stick with him.
1st: No1 REDOUBLE; 2nd: No4 Kaonic; 3rd: No3 Handfast; 4th: No2 Onslaught
