Liked the way *SCRATCHED* PEYTON PLACE chased to just miss at Taree last start and can atone that narrow defeat in today’s opening event at Newcastle. Go on his victory two starts back when defeating Huey also at Taree. Has placed on this track when resuming from a spell and will be fit and ready to fire here today. Winning hope.

No1 PROGRESSION (BEST BET) is resuming from a month freshen-up and she looks well-placed to bounce back into the winner’s circle here today. Beaten by half a length behind Happy Mo at Wyong last start and she can atone that defeat in today’s winnable event. Drawn well and looks ready to make a statement. Sticking with her. Top pick.

Sticking with the lightly raced Waterhouse/Bott runner KOOZA that’s on a seven-day back up after placing at Kembla Grange last start. Led and was headed in the straight but showed fight to be narrowly beaten by Chocolatier and will be the one they all need to run down here today. Fit and ready to fire, will take a power of beating.

Newcastle Race 8 - 4:50PM Nationwide Super F&M Class 1 Handicap (Scaled -0.5kg) (1500 Metres)
Lightly raced Kris Lees-trained filly SUNREEL looks well-placed to make it successive victories in the final event of the program at Newcastle today. Looked impressive when breaking through for her maiden victory defeating Ted’s Dream by 1.5 lengths at Kempsey a fortnight ago. Has placed at both attempts on the track and will be the one flashing at them late. Serious chance.
1st: No9 SUNREEL: 2nd 5 Joy for Us; 3rd: No2 Kissing Game; 4th: No4 Joy Forever
Sale Race 10 - 5:00 PM Ladbrokes Protest Payout BM64 Handicap (1739 Metres)
CAPE RICHARDS (NEXT BEST BET) looked impressive on debut and can make it successive victories to start his racing career here today. Settled near the rear before unleashing a good turn of foot to win by just under a length, defatting Duke Dictador at Murtoa. Will give them a start but watch for him flashing at them late. The one to beat.
1st: No1 CAPE RICHARDS 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No4 Beach God; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No5 Charlie Road; 4th: No3 Sailors Falls
