Wednesday Racing Previews & Tips - Sandown 15th August
Sandown Hillside is the venue for today’s mid-week meeting and we have found a few nice priced gallopers which will prove hard to beat.
Expecting leading trainer Darren Weir to dominate the program as he has a few handy gallopers going around here today. Top pick is lightly raced but looks well-placed and will be hard to beat.
Sandown is racing on a Soft 6 with the rail out 4m the entire circuit.
Sandown Race 1 - 12:20PM Polytrack Plate (1300 METRES)
APPROACH DISCREET was beaten when favourite at his race debut at Cranbourne and can atone for that defeat in the opening event of the program here today. Worked home well when beaten by Tavisan on debut and sure to strip fitter second-up. Looks well-placed.
1st: No10 APPROACH DISCREET 2nd: No8 Foot Foot; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No6 The Delphi; 4th: No11 Chapada
Sandown Race 2 - 12:55PM Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1300 METRES)
Lightly-raced FIER AVISTA has drawn well and can make it successive victories here today. Broke its maiden with a solid 3.2 length victory defeating Another Kerrie at Geelong a fortnight ago. Will strip fitter and looms as the one they all need to beat. Big danger.
1st: No3 FIERA VISTA 2nd: No1 Mirette; 3rd: No6 No Time Like Now; 4th: No10 Pure
Sandown Race 3 - 1:30PM Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1000 METRES)
Sticking with Darren Weir-trained WON BALL that’s resuming from a spell and looks placed to be very competitive back in this grade first-up here today. Narrowly beaten at Morphettville last start but going on his two victories prior to that defeat, he will be one of the main hopes here today. Sticking with him.
1st: No6 WON BALL 2nd: No5 Toorak Cowboy; 3rd: No3 Henning; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No4 Spirit of Aquada
Sandown Race 4 - 2:05PM Ladbrokes Multiverse Handicap (2400 METRES)
ZEDINATOR is a consistent gelding looking to make it three wins on the trot here today. Chased hard to get the victory in the final bound when defeating Seas No Limit at Caulfield last start. Trainer and jockey have a great strike rate when combing. The one to beat.
1st: No2 ZEDINATOR 2nd: No1 Darabad; 3rd: No3 Annaman; 4th: No7 San Remo
Sandown Race 5 - 2:40PM Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap (1800 METRES)
Consistent gelding THE PASSAGE has finished runner-up at his past two starts and can atone for both of those narrow defeats here today. Beaten a length by Mantastic at Caulfield last start and has drawn to get the ruin of the race here today. Will strip fitter and looks a key player in today's’ event.
1st: No9 THE PASSAGE 2nd: No5 Radical; 3rd: No11 Stealthy Lucas; 4th: No2 Annunciate
Sandown Race 6 - 3:15PM Ladbrokes Protest Payout Handicap (1300 METRES)
*SCRATCHED* STAR SILK (NEXT BEST BET) won at big odds last start and nothing suggests he can’t win again here today. Stormed home to defeat Hochadel by half a length at Sale last start and will be the one launching late at them once again. Drawn well and looks a serious player.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No8 STAR SILK 2nd: No5 Eluded; 3rd: *SCRATCHED* No3 Holy Freeze; 4th: No2 Eaton
Sandown Race 7 - 3:50PM Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1500 METRES)
Open race, sticking with the lightly-raced Mare MOSCOW RED to bounce back into the winner’s circle after finishing in the placings at her two starts since resuming from a spell. Narrowly beaten at Sale last start behind Little Bita but with luck can take out today’s event. Key player.
1st: No13 MOSCOW RED 2nd: No3 Frankly Harvey; 3rd: No1 Emoji; 4th: *SCRATCHED* No14 Palmateer
Sandown Race 8 - 4:25PM Clanbrooke Racing Handicap (1000 METRES)
*SCRATCHED* THINE IS THE POWER (BEST BET) is lightly raced and looks well-placed to make it successive victories after a dominant win on this track last start. Toyed with her rivals last start and looks to have a little upside about her. Faces a jump in class but looks well-placed and can win again.
1st: *SCRATCHED* No16 THINE IS THE POWER 2nd: No11 Weekend Escape; 3rd: No14 Sworn Evidence; 4th: No2 Open House
Sandown Race 9 - 5:00PM Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1300 METRES)
NECESSARY looked good when winning by 1.7 lengths at Bairnsdale last start and can make it back-to-back victories to close the program at Sandown here today. Proved too good when defeating Raiza Flame first-up and sure to strip fitter second-up here today. Rates well.
1st: No7 NECESSARY 2nd: *SCRATCHED* No5 Four Sisters; 3rd: No3 Lost Command; 4th: No1 Sensation Ally
